1 Samuel 4

La parole de Samuel s'adressait à tout Israël. Les Israélites marchèrent en guerre contre les Philistins et établirent leur camp près d'Eben-Haézer; celui des Philistins était à Aphek.

Y SAMUEL habló á todo Israel. Por aquel tiempo salió Israel á encontrar en batalla á los Filisteos, y asentó campo junto á Eben-ezer, y los Filisteos asentaron el suyo en Aphec.

And the word of Samuel came to all Israel. Now Israel went out against the Philistines to battle, and pitched beside Eben-ezer: and the Philistines pitched in Aphek.

Les Philistins s'alignèrent en face d'Israël, la bataille devint générale, les Israélites furent défaits par les Philistins et laissèrent sur le champ de bataille environ quatre mille morts.

Y los Filisteos presentaron la batalla á Israel; y trabándose el combate, Israel fué vencido delante de los Filisteos, los cuales hirieron en la batalla por el campo como cuatro mil hombres.

And the Philistines put themselves in array against Israel: and when they joined battle, Israel was smitten before the Philistines: and they slew of the army in the field about four thousand men.

Le peuple étant rentré au camp, les anciens d'Israël se dirent: "D'où vient que l'Eternel nous a laissé battre aujourd'hui par les Philistins? Faisons venir ici, de Silo, l'arche d'alliance de l'Eternel, afin qu'elle soit au milieu de nous et nous assiste contre nos ennemis."

Y vuelto que hubo el pueblo al campamento, los ancianos de Israel dijeron: ¿Por qué nos ha herido hoy Jehová delante de los Filisteos? Traigamos á nosotros de Silo el arca del pacto de Jehová, para que viniendo entre nosotros nos salve de la mano de nuestros enemigos.

And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the LORD smitten us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may save us out of the hand of our enemies.

Le peuple envoya donc à Silo, pour en ramener l'arche d'alliance de l'Eternel-Cebaot, qui trône sur les chérubins; là, près de l'arche d'alliance du Seigneur, étaient les deux fils d'Héli, Hophni et Phinéas.

Y envió el pueblo á Silo, y trajeron de allá el arca del pacto de Jehová de los ejércitos, que estaba asentado entre los querubines; y los dos hijos de Eli, Ophni y Phinees, estaban allí con el arca del pacto de Dios.

So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.

Lorsque l'arche de l'alliance divine arriva au camp, tout Israël poussa une si grande clameur que le pays en trembla.

Les Philistins, entendant ces cris de joie, demandèrent: "Que signifie cette bruyante clameur dans le camp des Hébreux?" Et ils apprirent que l'arche de l'Eternel était arrivée dans le camp.

Y cuando los Filisteos oyeron la voz de júbilo, dijeron: ¿Qué voz de gran júbilo es esta en el campo de los Hebreos? Y supieron que el arca de Jehová había venido al campo.

And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, What meaneth the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of the LORD was come into the camp.

Et les Philistins eurent peur, parce qu'ils disaient: "Dieu est venu dans le camp", et ils ajoutaient: "Malheur à nous! Jamais auparavant pareille chose n'était arrivée.

Y los Filisteos tuvieron miedo, porque decían: Ha venido Dios al campo. Y dijeron: ¡Ay de nosotros! pues antes de ahora no fué así.

And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God is come into the camp. And they said, Woe unto us! for there hath not been such a thing heretofore.

Malheur à nous! Qui nous sauvera de la main de ces redoutables dieux? Oui, ce sont ces mêmes dieux qui frappèrent les Egyptiens de tant de plaies dans le désert.

¡Ay de nosotros! ¿Quién nos librará de las manos de estos dioses fuertes? Estos son los dioses que hirieron á Egipto con toda plaga en el desierto.

Woe unto us! who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty Gods? these are the Gods that smote the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wilderness.

Armez-vous de courage, soyez hommes, ô Philistins! Si vous ne voulez subir le joug des Hébreux comme ils ont subi le vôtre; soyez hommes et luttez!"

Esforzaos, oh Filisteos, y sed hombres, porque no sirváis á los Hebreos, como ellos os han servido á vosotros: sed hombres, y pelead.

Be strong, and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight.

Et les Philistins attaquèrent, et les Israélites furent battus et s'enfuirent dans leurs tentes: ce fut une défaite considérable, trente mille hommes de pied périrent en Israël.

Pelearon pues los Filisteos, é Israel fué vencido, y huyeron cada cual á sus tiendas; y fué hecha muy grande mortandad, pues cayeron de Israel treinta mil hombres de á pie.

And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.

De plus, l'arche du Seigneur fut prise, et les deux fils d'Héli, Hophni et Phinéas, périrent aussi.

And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.

Un Benjamite s'échappa du champ de bataille et arriva à Silo ce même jour, ayant ses vêtements déchirés et la tête couverte de poussière.

Y corriendo de la batalla un hombre de Benjamín, vino aquel día á Silo, rotos sus vestidos y tierra sobre su cabeza:

And there ran a man of Benjamin out of the army, and came to Shiloh the same day with his clothes rent, and with earth upon his head.

Comme il arrivait, Héli était assis sur son siège, au bord du chemin, dans une attente pleine d'anxiété, à cause de l'arche du Seigneur; l'homme vint répandre la nouvelle dans la ville, qui éclata tout entière en lamentations.

Y cuando llegó, he aquí Eli que estaba sentado en una silla atalayando junto al camino; porque su corazón estaba temblando por causa del arca de Dios. Llegado pues aquel hombre á la ciudad, y dadas las nuevas, toda la ciudad gritó.

And when he came, lo, Eli sat upon a seat by the wayside watching: for his heart trembled for the ark of God. And when the man came into the city, and told it, all the city cried out.

En entendant ces cris, Héli demanda: "Qu'est-ce que cette clameur de la foule?" Et l'homme s'empressa d'approcher et de l'apprendre à Héli.

Y como Eli oyó el estruendo de la gritería, dijo: ¿Qué estruendo de alboroto es éste? Y aquel hombre vino apriesa, y dió las nuevas á Eli.

And when Eli heard the noise of the crying, he said, What meaneth the noise of this tumult? And the man came in hastily, and told Eli.

Celui-ci avait alors quatre-vingt-dix-huit ans; ses yeux étaient immobiles, il ne pouvait plus voir.

Era ya Eli de edad de noventa y ocho años, y sus ojos se habían entenebrecido, de modo que no podía ver.

Now Eli was ninety and eight years old; and his eyes were dim, that he could not see.

"C'est moi, dit l'homme à Héli, qui viens du champ de bataille, je m'en suis échappé aujourd'hui. Quelle a donc été l'issue, mon fils?" demanda Héli.

Dijo pues aquel hombre á Eli: Yo vengo de la batalla, yo he escapado hoy del combate. Y él dijo: ¿Qué ha acontecido, hijo mío?

And the man said unto Eli, I am he that came out of the army, and I fled to day out of the army. And he said, What is there done, my son?

The man said to Eli, “I am he who came out of the army, and I fled today out of the army.” He said, “How did the matter go, my son?”

Le messager répondit: "Israël a pris la fuite devant les Philistins, et le peuple a essuyé de grandes pertes; de plus, tes deux fils Hophni et Phinéas sont morts, et l'arche du Seigneur est prise."

Y el mensajero respondió, y dijo: Israel huyó delante de los Filisteos, y también fué hecha gran mortandad en el pueblo; y también tus dos hijos, Ophni y Phinees, son muertos, y el arca de Dios fué tomada.

And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken.

He who brought the news answered, “Israel has fled before the Philistines, and there has been also a great slaughter among the people. Your two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and God’s ark has been captured.”

En l'entendant mentionner l'arche du Seigneur, Héli tomba de son siège à la renverse, du côté de la porte, se brisa la nuque et mourut, car cet homme était vieux et appesanti par l'âge. Il avait gouverné Israël quarante années.

Y aconteció que como él hizo mención del arca de Dios, Eli cayó hacia atrás de la silla al lado de la puerta, y quebrósele la cerviz, y murió: porque era hombre viejo y pesado. Y había juzgado á Israel cuarenta años.

And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.

Sa bru, la femme de Phinéas, était alors dans un état de grossesse avancée. En apprenant ces nouvelles, que l'arche du Seigneur était prise, que son beau-père et son époux étaient morts, elle s'affaissa et enfanta, brusquement saisie par les douleurs.

Y su nuera, la mujer de Phinees, que estaba preñada, cercana al parto, oyendo el rumor que el arca de Dios era tomada, y muertos su suegro y su marido, encorvóse y parió; porque sus dolores se habían ya derramado por ella.

And his daughter in law, Phinehas’ wife, was with child, near to be delivered: and when she heard the tidings that the ark of God was taken, and that her father in law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her pains came upon her.

La voyant près de mourir, les femmes qui l'assistaient lui dirent: "Ne crains rien, c'est un garçon que tu as mis au monde." Mais, indifférente à leurs paroles, elle ne répondit point.

Y al tiempo que se moría, decíanle las que estaban junto á ella: No tengas temor, porque has parido un hijo. Mas ella no respondió, ni paró mientes.

And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast born a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it.

Et elle nomma l'enfant I-Cabod, en disant "C'en est fait de la gloire d'Israël!" à cause de la capture de l'arche divine, de la mort de son beau-père et de son époux.

Y llamó al niño Ichâbod, diciendo: ¡Traspasada es la gloria de Israel! por el arca de Dios que fué tomada, y porque era muerto su suegro, y su marido.

And she named the child I-chabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband.

She named the child Ichabod, saying, “The glory has departed from Israel!” because God’s ark was taken, and because of her father-in-law and her husband.

"Oui, dit-elle, plus de gloire pour Israël, maintenant que l'arche divine est prise!"

Dijo pues: Traspasada es la gloria de Israel: porque el arca de Dios fué tomada.

And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.

She said, “The glory has departed from Israel; for God’s ark has been taken.”
