Estuvo, pues, el arca del Señor en el país de los filisteos por espacio de siete meses.
Y ESTUVO el arca de Jehová en la tierra de los Filisteos siete meses.

Y convocando los filisteos a los sacerdotes y adivinos, les dijeron: ¿Qué haremos del arca del Señor? Instruidnos en qué forma debamos remitirla a su lugar. A lo que les respondieron:
Entonces los Filisteos, llamando los sacerdotes y adivinos, preguntaron: ¿Qué haremos del arca de Jehová? Declaradnos cómo la hemos de tornar á enviar á su lugar.
And the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying, What shall we do to the ark of the LORD? tell us wherewith we shall send it to his place.

Si remitís el arca del Dios de Israel, no habéis de remitirla vacía; sino pagadle con algún presente lo que debéis por el pecado, y entonces sanaréis; y conoceréis por qué la mano de Dios no cesa de castigaros.
Y ellos dijeron: Si enviáis el arca del Dios de Israel, no la enviéis vacía; mas le pagaréis la expiación: y entonces seréis sanos, y conoceréis por qué no se apartó de vosotros su mano.
And they said, If ye send away the ark of the God of Israel, send it not empty; but in any wise return him a trespass offering: then ye shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.
They said, “If you send away the ark of the God of Israel, don’t send it empty; but by all means return a trespass offering to him. Then you will be healed, and it will be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.”
Dijeron ellos: ¿Qué es lo que debemos pagarle en expiación por el pecado? A lo que les contestaron:
Y ellos dijeron: ¿Y qué será la expiación que le pagaremos? Y ellos respondieron: Conforme al número de los príncipes de los Filisteos, cinco hemorroides de oro, y cinco ratones de oro, porque la misma plaga que todos tienen, tienen también vuestros príncipes.
Then said they, What shall be the trespass offering which we shall return to him? They answered, Five golden emerods, and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines: for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.
Then they said, “What should the trespass offering be which we shall return to him?” They said, “Five golden tumors and five golden mice, for the number of the lords of the Philistines; for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.
Haréis de oro cinco figuras de hemorroides, y otras tantas figuras de ratones, también de oro, conforme al número de las provincias de los filisteos; pues todos vosotros y vuestros sátrapas, habéis padecido una misma plaga. Por tanto haréis unas figuras de hemorroides y otras de los ratones que han talado la tierra, y daréis gloria al Dios de Israel; a ver si con esto levanta su mano de vosotros y de vuestros dioses y de vuestro país.
Haréis pues las formas de vuestras hemorroides, y las formas de vuestros ratones que destruyen la tierra, y daréis gloria al Dios de Israel: quizá aliviará su mano de sobre vosotros, y de sobre vuestros dioses, y de sobre vuestra tierra.
Wherefore ye shall make images of your emerods, and images of your mice that mar the land; and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel: peradventure he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.
Therefore you shall make images of your tumors and images of your mice that mar the land; and you shall give glory to the God of Israel. Perhaps he will release his hand from you, from your gods, and from your land.
¿Por qué endurecéis vuestros corazones, como endurecieron el suyo Egipto y el faraón? ¿No es así que después de haber sido castigado con varias plagas, entonces soltó a los israelitas, para que se fuesen?
Mas ¿por qué endurecéis vuestro corazón, como los Egipcios y Faraón endurecieron su corazón? Después que los hubo así tratado, ¿no los dejaron que se fuesen, y se fueron?
Wherefore then do ye harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? when he had wrought wonderfully among them, did they not let the people go, and they departed?

Ahora, pues, manos a la obra, haced un carro nuevo y uncid al carro dos vacas recién paridas, que no hayan traído yugo; y encerrad en la boyera sus ternerillos.
Haced pues ahora un carro nuevo, y tomad luego dos vacas que críen, á las cuales no haya sido puesto yugo, y uncid las vacas al carro, y haced tornar de detrás de ellas sus becerros á casa.
Now therefore make a new cart, and take two milch kine, on which there hath come no yoke, and tie the kine to the cart, and bring their calves home from them:
“Now therefore take and prepare yourselves a new cart and two milk cows on which there has come no yoke; and tie the cows to the cart, and bring their calves home from them;
Tomaréis después el arca del Señor y la pondréis en el carro, colocando a su lado en un cofrecito las figuras de oro que le consagrasteis por el pecado; y dejadla ir.
Tomaréis luego el arca de Jehová, y la pondréis sobre el carro; y poned en una caja al lado de ella las alhajas de oro que le pagáis en expiación: y la dejaréis que se vaya.
And take the ark of the LORD, and lay it upon the cart; and put the jewels of gold, which ye return him for a trespass offering, in a coffer by the side thereof; and send it away, that it may go.

Y estaréis en observación; y si viereis que toma el camino que va a su país, hacia Betsamés, sabed que el Dios de Israel es quien nos ha causado tan grande mal; pero si no, no ha sido él; y sabremos que no es su mano la que nos ha azotado, sino que ha sido un efecto casual.
Y mirad: si sube por el camino de su término á Beth-semes, él nos ha hecho este mal tan grande; y si no, seremos ciertos que su mano no nos hirió, nos ha sido accidente.
And see, if it goeth up by the way of his own coast to Beth-shemesh, then he hath done us this great evil: but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that smote us; it was a chance that happened to us.
Behold, if it goes up by the way of its own border to Beth Shemesh, then he has done us this great evil; but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that struck us. It was a chance that happened to us.”
Lo hicieron, pues, así, puntualmente, y tomando dos vacas que daban de mamar a sus becerrillos, las uncieron al carro, y encerraron los ternerillos en el establo.
Y aquellos hombres lo hicieron así; pues tomando dos vacas que criaban, unciéronlas al carro, y encerraron en casa sus becerros.
And the men did so; and took two milch kine, and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home:

Y pusieron sobre el carro el arca de Dios, y el cofrecito que contenía los ratones de oro y las figuras de las hemorroides.

And they laid the ark of the LORD upon the cart, and the coffer with the mice of gold and the images of their emerods.
They put the LORD’s ark on the cart, and the box with the golden mice and the images of their tumors.
Mas las vacas habiendo comenzado a marchar se dirigieron, vía recta, por el camino que va a Betsamés; y seguían como de acuerdo el mismo camino, tirando adelante y mugiendo sin desviarse a la diestra ni a la siniestra. Los sátrapas de los filisteos fueron siguiendo detrás en observación hasta llegar al territorio de Betsamés.
Y las vacas se encaminaron por el camino de Beth-semes, é iban por un mismo camino andando y bramando, sin apartarse ni á diestra ni á siniestra: y los príncipes de los Filisteos fueron tras ellas hasta el término de Beth-semes.
And the kine took the straight way to the way of Beth-shemesh, and went along the highway, lowing as they went, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left; and the lords of the Philistines went after them unto the border of Beth-shemesh.

Estaban los betsamitas segando el trigo en un valle, y alzando los ojos vieron el arca , cuya vista los llenó de gozo.
Y los de Beth-semes segaban el trigo en el valle; y alzando sus ojos vieron el arca, y holgáronse cuando la vieron.
And they of Beth-shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley: and they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it.

El carro llegó al campo del betsamita Josué, y se paró en él. Había allí una gran piedra, y haciendo pedazos la madera del carro, pusieron encima las vacas y las ofrecieron en holocausto al Señor.

And the cart came into the field of Joshua, a Beth-shemite, and stood there, where there was a great stone: and they clave the wood of the cart, and offered the kine a burnt offering unto the LORD.

Mas los levitas bajaron el arca de Dios, y el cofrecito que estaba a su lado, donde venían vasos de oro, y la colocaron sobre aquella gran piedra. Entonces los betsamitas ofrecieron holocaustos delante del arca , e inmolaron en aquel día víctimas al Señor;

And the Levites took down the ark of the LORD, and the coffer that was with it, wherein the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone: and the men of Beth-shemesh offered burnt offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day unto the LORD.

lo cual vieron los cinco sátrapas de los filisteos, y el mismo día se volvieron a Accarón.

Y éstas son las ciudades que ofrecieron las hemorroides hechas de oro, que los filisteos tributaron al Señor para expiar el pecado: Azoto, Gaza, Ascalón, Get, Accarón, una cada ciudad.
Estas pues son las hemorroides de oro que pagaron los Filisteos á Jehová en expiación: por Asdod una, por Gaza una, por Ascalón una, por Gath una, por Ecrón una;
And these are the golden emerods which the Philistines returned for a trespass offering unto the LORD; for Ashdod one, for Gaza one, for Askelon one, for Gath one, for Ekron one;

Y los ratones de oro que ofrecieron, fueron tantos cuantas eran las poblaciones de los filisteos en las cinco provincias, comenzando desde las ciudades muradas, hasta las aldeas que no tienen muros; todo el país hasta la piedra grande llamada después Abel, sobre la cual habían colocado el arca del Señor, piedra que hasta hoy día está en la heredad de Josué betsamita.
Y ratones de oro conforme al número de todas las ciudades de los Filisteos pertenecientes á los cinco príncipes, desde las ciudades fuertes hasta las aldeas sin muro; y hasta la gran piedra sobre la cual pusieron el arca de Jehová, piedra que está en el campo de Josué Beth-semita hasta hoy.
And the golden mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both of fenced cities, and of country villages, even unto the great stone of Abel, whereon they set down the ark of the LORD: which stone remaineth unto this day in the field of Joshua, the Beth-shemite.

Mas el Señor castigó a los moradores de Betsamés, y ciudades vecinas, porque se pusieron a mirar con curiosidad el interior del arca del Señor contra lo mandado; y mató setenta hombres de los ancianos del pueblo, y cincuenta mil del vulgo. Y prorrumpieron todos en llanto, al ver que el Señor había herido al pueblo con tan gran mortandad.
Entonces hirió Dios á los de Beth-semes, porque habían mirado en el arca de Jehová; hirió en el pueblo cincuenta mil y setenta hombres. Y el pueblo puso luto, porque Jehová le había herido de tan gran plaga.
And he smote the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.
He struck of the men of Beth Shemesh, because they had looked into the LORD’s ark, he struck fifty thousand seventy of the men. Then the people mourned, because the LORD had struck the people with a great slaughter.
Por lo que dijeron los ciudadanos de Betsamés: ¿Quién podrá estar en la presencia de este Señor, de este Dios tan santo? ¿y a qué lugar podrá trasladarse?
Y dijeron los de Beth-semes: ¿Quién podrá estar delante de Jehová el Dios santo? ¿y á quién subirá desde nosotros?
And the men of Beth-shemesh said, Who is able to stand before this holy LORD God? and to whom shall he go up from us?

Enviaron, pues, mensajeros, a los habitantes de Cariatiarim, diciendo: Los filisteos han restituido el arca del Señor: Bajad, y lleváosla otra vez.
Y enviaron mensajeros á los de Chîriath-jearim, diciendo: Los Filisteos han vuelto el arca de Jehová: descended pues, y llevadla á vosotros.
And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kirjath-jearim, saying, The Philistines have brought again the ark of the LORD; come ye down, and fetch it up to you.
