Y HABÍA un varón de Benjamín, hombre valeroso, el cual se llamaba Cis, hijo de Abiel, hijo de Seor, hijo de Bechôra, hijo de Aphia, hijo de un hombre de Benjamín.
Now there was a man of Benjamin, whose name was Kish, the son of Abiel, the son of Zeror, the son of Bechorath, the son of Aphiah, a Benjamite, a mighty man of power.

Ele tinha um filho chamado Saul, jovem e de boa aparência. Não havia outro jovem de melhor aparência entre os israelitas; era mais alto do que qualquer outro homem daquele povo.
Y tenía él un hijo que se llamaba Saúl, mancebo y hermoso, que entre los hijos de Israel no había otro más hermoso que él; del hombro arriba sobrepujaba á cualquiera del pueblo.
And he had a son, whose name was Saul, a choice young man, and a goodly: and there was not among the children of Israel a goodlier person than he: from his shoulders and upward he was higher than any of the people.

Um dia, as jumentas de Quis, pai de Saul, se perderam, e ele disse a Saul: “Leve com você um dos servos e vá procurar as jumentas”.
Y habíanse perdido las asnas de Cis, padre de Saúl; por lo que dijo Cis á Saúl su hijo: Toma ahora contigo alguno de los criados, y levántate, y ve á buscar las asnas.
And the asses of Kish Saul’s father were lost. And Kish said to Saul his son, Take now one of the servants with thee, and arise, go seek the asses.
The donkeys of Kish, Saul’s father, were lost. Kish said to Saul his son, “Now take one of the servants with you, and arise, go look for the donkeys.”
Eles andaram por toda a região das montanhas de Efraim, e pela região de Salisa, mas não as acharam; depois foram à região de Saalim, percorreram toda a terra de Benjamim e não encontraram os animais em parte alguma.
Y él pasó al monte de Ephraim, y de allí á la tierra de Salisa, y no las hallaron. Pasaron luego por la tierra de Saalim, y tampoco. Después pasaron por la tierra de Benjamín, y no las encontraron.
And he passed through mount Ephraim, and passed through the land of Shalisha, but they found them not: then they passed through the land of Shalim, and there they were not: and he passed through the land of the Benjamites, but they found them not.

Finalmente, depois de procurar na terra de Zufe, Saul disse ao servo: “Vamos voltar para casa; a estas horas meu pai já deve estar mais preocupado conosco do que com as jumentas!”
Y cuando vinieron á la tierra de Suph, Saúl dijo á su criado que tenía consigo: Ven, volvámonos; porque quizá mi padre, dejado el cuidado de las asnas, estará congojado por nosotros.
And when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come, and let us return; lest my father leave caring for the asses, and take thought for us.
When they had come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant who was with him, “Come! Let’s return, lest my father stop caring about the donkeys and be anxious for us.”
Porém o servo respondeu: “Acabo de pensar numa coisa! Nesta cidade mora um homem de Deus; todo o povo daqui tem muita consideração por ele, porque tudo quanto ele diz acontece. Vamos ver se o encontramos e talvez ele nos diga onde estão os animais que procuramos”.
Y él le respondió: He aquí ahora hay en esta ciudad un hombre de Dios, que es varón insigne: todas las cosas que él dijere, sin duda vendrán. Vamos pues allá: quizá nos enseñará nuestro camino por donde hayamos de ir.
And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go.
The servant said to him, “Behold now, there is a man of God in this city, and he is a man who is held in honor. All that he says surely happens. Now let’s go there. Perhaps he can tell us which way to go.”
“Mas não temos nada com que pagar esse homem”, respondeu Saul. “Até o nosso alimento se acabou, e não temos nenhum presente para dar ao homem de Deus. O que temos para oferecer?”
Y Saúl respondió á su criado: Vamos ahora: ¿mas qué llevaremos al varón? Porque el pan de nuestras alforjas se ha acabado, y no tenemos qué presentar al varón de Dios: ¿qué tenemos?
Then said Saul to his servant, But, behold, if we go, what shall we bring the man? for the bread is spent in our vessels, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God: what have we?
Then Saul said to his servant, “But behold, if we go, what should we bring the man? For the bread is spent in our sacks, and there is not a present to bring to the man of God. What do we have?”
“Bem”, disse o servo, “tenho aqui três gramas de prata. Pelo menos podemos oferecer esse dinheiro a ele, e ver se ele nos mostra o caminho!”
Entonces tornó el criado á responder á Saúl, diciendo: He aquí se halla en mi mano la cuarta parte de un siclo de plata: esto daré al varón de Dios, porque nos declare nuestro camino.
And the servant answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I have here at hand the fourth part of a shekel of silver: that will I give to the man of God, to tell us our way.

(Antigamente em Israel, quando alguém ia consultar Deus, dizia: “Vamos ao vidente”, porque naquela época o profeta era chamado de vidente.)

Saul concordou: “Está bem. Vamos!” E assim, foram para a cidade onde morava o homem de Deus.
Dijo entonces Saúl á su criado: Bien dices; ea pues, vamos. Y fueron á la ciudad donde estaba el varón de Dios.
Then said Saul to his servant, Well said; come, let us go. So they went unto the city where the man of God was.
Then Saul said to his servant, “Well said. Come! Let’s go.” So they went to the city where the man of God was.
Quando subiam a colina em direção à cidade, viram algumas jovens que estavam saindo para tirar água. Então perguntaram a elas: “O vidente está na cidade?”
Y cuando subían por la cuesta de la ciudad, hallaron unas mozas que salían por agua, á las cuales dijeron: ¿Está en este lugar el vidente?
And as they went up the hill to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said unto them, Is the seer here?
As they went up the ascent to the city, they found young maidens going out to draw water, and said to them, “Is the seer here?”
“Sim”, responderam as jovens; “continuem por esta estrada. Ele mora logo depois da entrada da cidade. Ele acaba de voltar de uma viagem, para tomar parte num sacrifício público no alto da montanha.
Y ellas respondiéndoles, dijeron: Sí; helo aquí delante de ti: date pues priesa, porque hoy ha venido á la ciudad en atención á que el pueblo tiene hoy sacrificio en el alto.
And they answered them, and said, He is; behold, he is before you: make haste now, for he came to day to the city; for there is a sacrifice of the people to day in the high place:
They answered them and said, “He is. Behold, he is before you. Hurry now, for he has come today into the city; for the people have a sacrifice today in the high place.
Por isso, apressem-se para encontrá-lo antes que ele suba ao altar do monte para comer. O povo não comerá enquanto o vidente não chegar e abençoar o alimento. Vão agora e vocês o encontrarão”.
Y cuando entrareis en la ciudad, le encontraréis luego, antes que suba al alto á comer; pues el pueblo no comerá hasta que él haya venido, por cuanto él haya de bendecir el sacrificio, y después comerán los convidados. Subid pues ahora, porque ahora le hallaréis.
As soon as ye be come into the city, ye shall straightway find him, before he go up to the high place to eat: for the people will not eat until he come, because he doth bless the sacrifice; and afterwards they eat that be bidden. Now therefore get you up; for about this time ye shall find him.
As soon as you have come into the city, you will immediately find him before he goes up to the high place to eat; for the people will not eat until he comes, because he blesses the sacrifice. Afterwards those who are invited eat. Now therefore go up; for at this time you will find him.”
E assim eles foram para a cidade e, quando entravam pela porta, viram Samuel que saía na direção deles e se dirigia para o lugar de culto.
Ellos entonces subieron á la ciudad; y cuando en medio de la ciudad estuvieron, he aquí Samuel que delante de ellos salía para subir al alto.
And they went up into the city: and when they were come into the city, behold, Samuel came out against them, for to go up to the high place.
They went up to the city. As they came within the city, behold, Samuel came out toward them to go up to the high place.
No dia anterior, o Senhor já havia revelado isso a Samuel:
Y un día antes que Saúl viniese, Jehová había revelado al oído de Samuel, diciendo:
Now the LORD had told Samuel in his ear a day before Saul came, saying,
Now the LORD had revealed to Samuel a day before Saul came, saying,
“Amanhã, a esta hora, vou enviar a você um homem da terra de Benjamim. Você deve derramar óleo sobre a cabeça dele, como sinal de que ele será o líder sobre Israel, o meu povo. Esse homem livrará o meu povo das mãos dos filisteus, pois tenho visto o sofrimento do meu povo e ouvido o seu clamor”.
Mañana á esta misma hora yo enviaré á ti un varón de la tierra de Benjamín, al cual ungirás por príncipe sobre mi pueblo Israel, y salvará mi pueblo de mano de los Filisteos: pues yo he mirado á mi pueblo, porque su clamor ha llegado hasta mí.
To morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.
“Tomorrow about this time I will send you a man out of the land of Benjamin, and you shall anoint him to be prince over my people Israel. He will save my people out of the hand of the Philistines; for I have looked upon my people, because their cry has come to me.”
Quando Samuel viu Saul, o Senhor disse: “Esse é o homem de quem lhe falei! Ele governará o meu povo”.
Y luego que Samuel vió á Saúl, Jehová le dijo: He aquí éste es el varón del cual te hablé; éste señoreará á mi pueblo.
And when Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said unto him, Behold the man whom I spake to thee of! this same shall reign over my people.
When Samuel saw Saul, the LORD said to him, “Behold, the man of whom I spoke to you! He will have authority over my people.”
Nesse instante, Saul se aproximou de Samuel na entrada da cidade e perguntou: “Pode me dizer, por favor, onde é a casa do vidente?”
Y llegando Saúl á Samuel en medio de la puerta, díjole: Ruégote que me enseñes dónde está la casa del vidente.
Then Saul drew near to Samuel in the gate, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, where the seer’s house is.
Then Saul approached Samuel in the gateway, and said, “Please tell me where the seer’s house is.”
“Eu sou o vidente!”, respondeu Samuel. “Suba até o lugar de culto adiante de mim e comeremos juntos. Pela manhã eu lhe direi o que você deseja saber, e indicarei o caminho a seguir.
Y Samuel respondió á Saúl, y dijo: Yo soy el vidente: sube delante de mí al alto, y comed hoy conmigo, y por la mañana te despacharé, y te descubriré todo lo que está en tu corazón.
And Samuel answered Saul, and said, I am the seer: go up before me unto the high place; for ye shall eat with me to day, and to morrow I will let thee go, and will tell thee all that is in thine heart.
Samuel answered Saul and said, “I am the seer. Go up before me to the high place, for you are to eat with me today. In the morning I will let you go and will tell you all that is in your heart.
E não se preocupe com as jumentas que se perderam há três dias, porque já foram encontradas. A quem pertencerá tudo o que é precioso em Israel, senão a você e toda a família do seu pai?”
Y de las asnas que se te perdieron hoy ha tres días, pierde cuidado de ellas, porque se han hallado. Mas ¿por quién es todo el deseo de Israel, sino por ti y por toda la casa de tu padre?
And as for thine asses that were lost three days ago, set not thy mind on them; for they are found. And on whom is all the desire of Israel? Is it not on thee, and on all thy father’s house?
As for your donkeys who were lost three days ago, don’t set your mind on them, for they have been found. For whom does all Israel desire? Is it not you and all your father’s house?”
“Mas, senhor”, respondeu Saul, “não sou eu da tribo de Benjamim, a menor das tribos de Israel, e o meu grupo de famílias é o menos importante de todos os grupos de famílias da tribo de Benjamim? Então, por que o senhor está dizendo essas coisas a meu respeito?”
Y Saúl respondió, y dijo: ¿No soy yo hijo de Benjamín, de las más pequeñas tribus de Israel? Y mi familia ¿no es la más pequeña de todas las familias de la tribu de Benjamín? ¿por qué pues me has dicho cosa semejante?
And Saul answered and said, Am not I a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? wherefore then speakest thou so to me?
Saul answered, “Am I not a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why then do you speak to me like this?”
Então Samuel levou Saul e seu empregado para a grande sala e os fez assentar à cabeceira da mesa, dando-lhes lugar de honra entre os convidados, que eram cerca de trinta homens.
Y trabando Samuel de Saúl y de su criado, metiólos en la sala, y dióles lugar á la cabecera de los convidados, que eran como unos treinta hombres.
And Samuel took Saul and his servant, and brought them into the parlour, and made them sit in the chiefest place among them that were bidden, which were about thirty persons.
Samuel took Saul and his servant and brought them into the guest room, and made them sit in the best place among those who were invited, who were about thirty persons.
Samuel ordenou ao cozinheiro-chefe: “Traga o pedaço de carne que eu pedi para colocar à parte e que era para ser preparado para o convidado de honra”.
Y dijo Samuel al cocinero: Trae acá la porción que te dí, la cual te dije que guardases aparte.
And Samuel said unto the cook, Bring the portion which I gave thee, of which I said unto thee, Set it by thee.
Samuel said to the cook, “Bring the portion which I gave you, of which I said to you, ‘Set it aside.’”
Então o cozinheiro-chefe trouxe o pedaço de carne e o colocou diante de Saul. “Aqui está o que foi reservado. Por favor, coma”, disse Samuel, “pois eu estava guardando esse pedaço para você, antes mesmo de haver convidado esses outros!” Assim Saul comeu na companhia de Samuel.
Entonces alzó el cocinero una espaldilla, con lo que estaba sobre ella, y púsola delante de Saúl. Y Samuel dijo: He aquí lo que estaba reservado: ponlo delante de ti, y come; porque de industria se guardó para ti, cuando dije: Yo he convidado al pueblo. Y Saúl comió aquel día con Samuel.
And the cook took up the shoulder, and that which was upon it, and set it before Saul. And Samuel said, Behold that which is left! set it before thee, and eat: for unto this time hath it been kept for thee since I said, I have invited the people. So Saul did eat with Samuel that day.
The cook took up the thigh, and that which was on it, and set it before Saul. Samuel said, “Behold, that which has been reserved! Set it before yourself and eat; because it has been kept for you for the appointed time, for I said, ‘I have invited the people.’” So Saul ate with Samuel that day.
Depois que desceram do monte para a cidade, Samuel levou Saul para o terraço da casa, e ali conversaram por algum tempo.
Y cuando hubieron descendido del alto á la ciudad, él habló con Saúl en el terrado.
And when they were come down from the high place into the city, Samuel communed with Saul upon the top of the house.
When they had come down from the high place into the city, he talked with Saul on the housetop.
Ao amanhecer do dia seguinte, Samuel chamou Saul no terraço e disse: “Levante-se; já está na hora de você partir! Eu o acompanharei”. Saul levantou-se, e Samuel o acompanhou até a saída da cidade.
Y al otro día madrugaron: y como al apuntar del alba, Samuel llamó á Saúl, que estaba en el terrado; y dijo: Levántate, para que te despache. Levantóse luego Saúl, y salieron fuera ambos, él y Samuel.
And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of the day, that Samuel called Saul to the top of the house, saying, Up, that I may send thee away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad.
They arose early; and about daybreak, Samuel called to Saul on the housetop, saying, “Get up, that I may send you away.” Saul arose, and they both went outside, he and Samuel, together.
Ao chegarem até a saída da cidade, Samuel disse a Saul que mandasse o seu empregado prosseguir, e então disse a Saul: “Espere mais um instante, para que eu transmita uma mensagem especial da parte de Deus”.
Y descendiendo ellos al cabo de la ciudad, dijo Samuel á Saúl: Di al mozo que vaya delante, (y adelantóse el mozo); mas espera tú un poco para que te declare palabra de Dios.
And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.
As they were going down at the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, “Tell the servant to go on ahead of us.” He went ahead, then Samuel said, “But stand still first, that I may cause you to hear God’s message.”
