C’est pourquoi, n’y tenant plus, nous avons trouvé bon d’être laissés seuls à Athènes,

POR lo cual, no pudiendo esperar más, acordamos quedarnos solos en Atenas,

Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;

Therefore when we couldn’t stand it any longer, we thought it good to be left behind at Athens alone,

et nous avons envoyé Timothée, notre frère et compagnon d’œuvre sous Dieu dans l’évangile du Christ, pour vous affermir et vous encourager touchant votre foi,

Y enviamos á Timoteo, nuestro hermano, y ministro de Dios, y colaborador nuestro en el evangelio de Cristo, á confirmaros y exhortaros en vuestra fe,

And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:

and sent Timothy, our brother and God’s servant in the Good News of Christ, to establish you and to comfort you concerning your faith,

afin que nul ne soit ébranlé dans ces tribulations ; car vous savez vous-mêmes que nous sommes destinés à cela.

Para que nadie se conmueva por estas tribulaciones; porque vosotros sabéis que nosotros somos puestos para esto.

That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.

that no one would be moved by these afflictions. For you know that we are appointed to this task.

Car aussi, quand nous étions auprès de vous, nous vous avons dit d’avance que nous aurions à subir des tribulations, comme cela est aussi arrivé, et comme vous le savez.

Que aun estando con vosotros, os predecíamos que habíamos de pasar tribulaciones, como ha acontecido y sabéis.

For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

For most certainly, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we are to suffer affliction, even as it happened, and you know.

C’est pourquoi moi aussi, n’y tenant plus, j’ai envoyé afin de connaître †ce qui en était de votre foi, de peur que le tentateur ne vous ait tentés, et que notre travail ne soit rendu vain.

Por lo cual, también yo, no esperando más, he enviado á reconocer vuestra fe, no sea que os haya tentado el tentador, y que nuestro trabajo haya sido en vano.

For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

For this cause I also, when I couldn’t stand it any longer, sent that I might know your faith, for fear that by any means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor would have been in vain.

Mais Timothée venant d’arriver de chez vous auprès de nous, et nous ayant apporté les bonnes nouvelles de votre foi et de votre amour, et †nous ayant dit que vous gardez toujours un bon souvenir de nous, désirant ardemment de nous voir, comme nous aussi nous désirons vous voir ;

Empero volviendo de vosotros á nosotros Timoteo, y haciéndonos saber vuestra fe y caridad, y que siempre tenéis buena memoria de nosotros, deseando vernos, como también nosotros á vosotros,

But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:

But Timothy has just now come to us from you, and brought us glad news of your faith and love, and that you have good memories of us always, longing to see us, even as we also long to see you.

– c’est pourquoi, frères, nous avons été consolés à votre sujet par votre foi, dans toute notre nécessité et dans notre tribulation ;

En ello, hermanos, recibimos consolación de vosotros en toda nuestra necesidad y aflicción por causa de vuestra fe:

Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:

For this cause, brothers, we were comforted over you in all our distress and affliction through your faith.

car maintenant nous vivons, si vous tenez fermes dans le Seigneur.

Porque ahora vivimos, si vosotros estáis firmes en el Señor.

For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.

Car comment pourrions-nous rendre à Dieu assez d’actions de grâces pour vous, pour toute la joie avec laquelle nous nous réjouissons à cause de vous devant notre Dieu,

Por lo cual, ¿qué hacimiento de gracias podremos dar á Dios por vosotros, por todo el gozo con que nos gozamos á causa de vosotros delante de nuestro Dios,

For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;

For what thanksgiving can we give again to God for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice for your sakes before our God,

priant nuit et jour très instamment, pour que nous voyions votre visage et que nous suppléions à ce qui manque à votre foi !

Orando de noche y de día con grande instancia, que veamos vuestro rostro, y que cumplamos lo que falta á vuestra fe?

Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

Or que notre Dieu et Père lui-même, et notre seigneur Jésus, nous fraie le chemin auprès de vous ;

Mas el mismo Dios y Padre nuestro, y el Señor nuestro Jesucristo, encamine nuestro viaje á vosotros.

Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.

et quant à vous, que le Seigneur vous fasse abonder et surabonder en amour les uns envers les autres et envers tous, comme nous aussi envers vous,

Y á vosotros multiplique el Señor, y haga abundar el amor entre vosotros, y para con todos, como es también de nosotros para con vosotros;

And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

May the Lord make you to increase and abound in love toward one another and toward all men, even as we also do toward you,

pour affermir vos cœurs sans reproche en sainteté devant notre Dieu et Père en la venue de notre seigneur Jésus avec tous ses saints.

Para que sean confirmados vuestros corazones en santidad, irreprensibles delante de Dios y nuestro Padre, para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo con todos sus santos.

To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
