Daher, als wir es nicht länger aushalten konnten, entschlossen wir uns, in Athen allein zurückzubleiben,

POR lo cual, no pudiendo esperar más, acordamos quedarnos solos en Atenas,

Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left at Athens alone;

Therefore when we couldn’t stand it any longer, we thought it good to be left behind at Athens alone,

und sandten Timotheus ab, unsern Bruder und Gottes Diener bei der (Verkündigung der) Heilsbotschaft von Christus: er sollte euch stärken und euch Zuspruch für euren Glauben bringen,

Y enviamos á Timoteo, nuestro hermano, y ministro de Dios, y colaborador nuestro en el evangelio de Cristo, á confirmaros y exhortaros en vuestra fe,

And sent Timotheus, our brother, and minister of God, and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort you concerning your faith:

and sent Timothy, our brother and God’s servant in the Good News of Christ, to establish you and to comfort you concerning your faith,

damit niemand in den gegenwärtigen Bedrängnissen wankend würde; ihr wißt ja selbst: dazu (zur standhaften Ertragung der Drangsale) sind wir bestimmt.

Para que nadie se conmueva por estas tribulaciones; porque vosotros sabéis que nosotros somos puestos para esto.

That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto.

that no one would be moved by these afflictions. For you know that we are appointed to this task.

Denn schon damals, als wir noch bei euch waren, haben wir euch vorausgesagt, daß wir Drangsale würden erleiden müssen; und so ist es denn auch gekommen, ihr wißt es ja.

Que aun estando con vosotros, os predecíamos que habíamos de pasar tribulaciones, como ha acontecido y sabéis.

For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; even as it came to pass, and ye know.

For most certainly, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we are to suffer affliction, even as it happened, and you know.

Deshalb habe ich auch, als ich es nicht länger aushalten konnte, (einen Boten) an euch abgeschickt, um Kunde über euren Glaubensstand zu erhalten, ob nicht etwa der Versucher euch in Versuchung geführt habe und unsere Arbeit damit vergeblich werden sollte.

Por lo cual, también yo, no esperando más, he enviado á reconocer vuestra fe, no sea que os haya tentado el tentador, y que nuestro trabajo haya sido en vano.

For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

For this cause I also, when I couldn’t stand it any longer, sent that I might know your faith, for fear that by any means the tempter had tempted you, and our labor would have been in vain.

Jetzt aber, nachdem Timotheus von euch zu uns zurückgekehrt ist und uns gute Botschaft von eurem Glauben und eurer Liebe gebracht und (uns berichtet hat,) daß ihr uns allezeit ein gutes Andenken bewahrt und euch nach einem Wiedersehen mit uns ebenso sehnet, wie auch wir uns nach euch sehnen,

Empero volviendo de vosotros á nosotros Timoteo, y haciéndonos saber vuestra fe y caridad, y que siempre tenéis buena memoria de nosotros, deseando vernos, como también nosotros á vosotros,

But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and brought us good tidings of your faith and charity, and that ye have good remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:

But Timothy has just now come to us from you, and brought us glad news of your faith and love, and that you have good memories of us always, longing to see us, even as we also long to see you.

so sind wir dadurch, was euch, liebe Brüder, betrifft, trotz aller unserer äußeren Not und Bedrängnis durch eure glaubenstreue wieder guten Mutes geworden;

En ello, hermanos, recibimos consolación de vosotros en toda nuestra necesidad y aflicción por causa de vuestra fe:

Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our affliction and distress by your faith:

For this cause, brothers, we were comforted over you in all our distress and affliction through your faith.

denn jetzt haben wir wieder vollen Lebensmut, wenn ihr feststeht im Herrn.

Porque ahora vivimos, si vosotros estáis firmes en el Señor.

For now we live, if ye stand fast in the Lord.

Ja, wie könnten wir wohl Gott im Hinblick auf euch genug Dank als Gegengabe für all die Freude darbringen, mit der wir um euretwillen vor unserm Gott erfüllt sind?

Por lo cual, ¿qué hacimiento de gracias podremos dar á Dios por vosotros, por todo el gozo con que nos gozamos á causa de vosotros delante de nuestro Dios,

For what thanks can we render to God again for you, for all the joy wherewith we joy for your sakes before our God;

For what thanksgiving can we give again to God for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice for your sakes before our God,

Bei Tag und bei Nacht bitten wir ihn deshalb aufs inständigste darum, er wolle uns vergönnen, euch von Angesicht zu Angesicht wiederzusehen und den Mängeln abzuhelfen, die eurem Glauben noch anhaften.

Orando de noche y de día con grande instancia, que veamos vuestro rostro, y que cumplamos lo que falta á vuestra fe?

Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

Ja, er selbst, unser Gott und Vater, und unser Herr Jesus wolle uns den Weg zu euch bahnen!

Mas el mismo Dios y Padre nuestro, y el Señor nuestro Jesucristo, encamine nuestro viaje á vosotros.

Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.

Euch aber lasse der Herr in der Liebe zueinander und zu allen Menschen wachsen und reich werden, wie auch wir euch gegenüber (von Liebe durchdrungen sind)!

Y á vosotros multiplique el Señor, y haga abundar el amor entre vosotros, y para con todos, como es también de nosotros para con vosotros;

And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

Ja, er mache eure Herzen fest, damit sie vor unserm Gott und Vater tadellos in Heiligkeit seien, wenn unser Herr Jesus mit allen seinen Heiligen kommt!

Para que sean confirmados vuestros corazones en santidad, irreprensibles delante de Dios y nuestro Padre, para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo con todos sus santos.

To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
