Au reste, frères, nous vous en prions et supplions par le Seigneur Jésus ; vous avez appris de nous comment il faut se conduire pour plaire à Dieu, (et ainsi vous le faites) ; marchez donc de progrès en progrès.

RESTA pues, hermanos, que os roguemos y exhortemos en el Señor Jesús, que de la manera que fuisteis enseñados de nosotros de cómo os conviene andar, y agradar á Dios, así vayáis creciendo.

Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

Finally then, brothers, we beg and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, that you abound more and more.

Vous connaissez en effet les préceptes que nous vous avons donnés de la part du Seigneur Jésus.

Porque ya sabéis qué mandamientos os dimos por el Señor Jesús.

For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.

Car ce que Dieu veut, c'est votre sanctification : c'est que vous évitiez l'impudicité,

Porque la voluntad de Dios es vuestra santificación: que os apartéis de fornicación;

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality,

et que chacun de vous sache garder son corps dans la sainteté et l'honnêteté,

Que cada uno de vosotros sepa tener su vaso en santificación y honor;

That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor,

sans l'abandonner aux emportements de la passion, comme font les païens qui ne connaissent pas Dieu ;

No con afecto de concupiscencia, como los Gentiles que no conocen á Dios:

Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God,

c'est que personne en cette matière n'use de violence ou de fraude à l'égard de son frère, parce que le Seigneur fait justice de tous ces désordres, comme nous vous l'avons déjà dit et attesté.

Que ninguno oprima, ni engañe en nada á su hermano: porque el Señor es vengador de todo esto, como ya os hemos dicho y protestado.

That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.

Car Dieu ne nous a pas appelés à l'impureté, mais à la sainteté.

Porque no nos ha llamado Dios á inmundicia, sino á santificación.

For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.

Celui donc qui méprise ces préceptes, ce n'est pas un homme qu'il méprise, mais Dieu, qui a aussi donné son Esprit-Saint pour habiter en vous.

Así que, el que menosprecia, no menosprecia á hombre, sino á Dios, el cual también nos dió su Espíritu Santo.

He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

Therefore he who rejects this doesn’t reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you.

Pour ce qui est de la charité fraternelle, il n'est pas besoin de vous en écrire ; car vous-mêmes avez appris de Dieu à vous aimer les uns les autres ;

Mas acerca de la caridad fraterna no habéis menester que os escriba: porque vosotros mismos habéis aprendido de Dios que os améis los unos á los otros;

But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another,

aussi bien le pratiquez-vous envers tous les frères par toute la Macédoine. Mais nous vous exhortons, frères, à le pratiquer toujours mieux.

Y también lo hacéis así con todos los hermanos que están por toda Macedonia. Empero os rogamos, hermanos, que abundéis más;

And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;

for indeed you do it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, that you abound more and more;

Appliquez-vous à vivre en repos, à vous occuper de vos propres affaires et à travailler de vos mains, comme nous vous l'avons recommandé,

Y que procuréis tener quietud, y hacer vuestros negocios, y obréis de vuestras manos de la manera que os hemos mandado;

And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

and that you make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we instructed you,

de telle sorte que vous teniez une conduite honnête aux yeux de ceux du dehors, sans avoir besoin de personne.

A fin de que andéis honestamente para con los extraños, y no necesitéis de nada.

That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.

that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.

Mais nous ne voulons pas, frères, que vous soyez dans l'ignorance au sujet de ceux qui se sont endormis, afin que vous ne vous affligiez pas, comme les autres hommes qui n'ont pas d'espérance.

Tampoco, hermanos, queremos que ignoréis acerca de los que duermen, que no os entristezcáis como los otros que no tienen esperanza.

But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope.

Car si nous croyons que Jésus est mort et qu'il est ressuscité, croyons aussi que Dieu amènera avec Jésus ceux qui se sont endormis en lui.

Porque si creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó, así también traerá Dios con él á los que durmieron en Jesús.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.

Voici, en effet, ce que nous vous déclarons d'après la parole du Seigneur : Nous, les vivants, laissés pour l'avènement du Seigneur, nous ne devancerons pas ceux qui se sont endormis.

Por lo cual, os decimos esto en palabra del Señor: que nosotros que vivimos, que habremos quedado hasta la venida del Señor, no seremos delanteros á los que durmieron.

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep.

Car, au signal donné, à la voix de l'archange, au son de la trompette divine, le Seigneur lui-même descendra du ciel, et ceux qui sont morts dans le Christ ressusciteront d'abord.

Porque el mismo Señor con aclamación, con voz de arcángel, y con trompeta de Dios, descenderá del cielo; y los muertos en Cristo resucitarán primero:

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,

Puis nous, qui vivons, qui sommes restés, nous serons emportés avec eux sur les nuées à la rencontre du Seigneur dans les airs, et ainsi nous serons pour toujours avec le Seigneur.

Luego nosotros, los que vivimos, los que quedamos, juntamente con ellos seremos arrebatados en las nubes á recibir al Señor en el aire, y así estaremos siempre con el Señor.

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.

Consolez-vous donc les uns les autres par ces paroles.

Por tanto, consolaos los unos á los otros en estas palabras.
