1Les digo unas cuantas cosas más: Hermanos y hermanas, les rogamos y los exhortamos en el Señor Jesús para que se comporten de una manera que agrade a Dios, tal como les enseñamos. Desde luego que ya lo hacen, ¡pero sigan haciéndolo cada vez más!
2Recuerden las instrucciones que les di en nombre del Señor Jesús.
3Lo que Dios quiere es que vivan vidas santas. Así que aléjense de la inmoralidad sexual
4para que cada uno tenga dominio propio de una manera santa y respetuosa,
5y no anden satisfaciendo los deseos de la lujuria como hacen los paganos que no tienen conocimiento de Dios.
6No engañen ni se aprovechen de otros cristianos en estos asuntos, porque el Señor es el que ejerce juicio en todas estas cosas, como ya se los hemos explicado claramente, y como ya les advertimos.
7Porque Dios no nos llamó a vivir vidas impuras, sino vidas santas.
8Así que todo el que rechaza esta enseñanza, no está rechazando lo que dice un ser humano, sino que está rechazando a Dios, quien es el que da su Espíritu Santo.
9Ciertamente no necesitamos escribirles y decirles que amen a los hermanos creyentes, porque Dios ya les enseña a amarse los unos a los otros,
10y de hecho ustedes demuestran este amor a todos los creyentes que están en toda Macedonia. Aun así, queremos animarlos, hermanos y hermanas, a que amen cada vez más.
11Procuren vivir una vida tranquila, preocupándose de sus propios asuntos, haciendo cada uno su propio trabajo, como ya les hemos enseñado,
12para que su forma de vivir sea respetada por los que no son cristianos, y así ustedes no dependan de que otros les provean lo que necesitan.
13No queremos que se confundan en cuanto a lo que sucede cuando las personas mueren, hermanos y hermanas, para que no se entristezcan como aquellos que no tienen ninguna esperanza.
14Puesto que estamos convencidos de que Jesús murió y se levantó de nuevo, también estamos seguros de que Dios traerá con Jesús a aquellos que han muerto confiando en él.
15Lo que les estamos diciendo viene del Señor: los que de nosotros estemos vivos aquí todavía cuando el Señor venga, ciertamente no precederemos a los que han muerto ya.
16Pues el Señor mismo descenderá con grito de mando, con el clamor del arcángel, y con el sonido de la trompeta de Dios; y los que han muerto en Cristo resucitarán primero.
17Entonces los que de nosotros estemos todavía vivos aquí seremos llevados con ellos en las nubes, y nos encontraremos con el Señor en el aire. ¡Y entonces estaremos para siempre con el Señor!
18Así que anímense los unos a los otros con estas palabras.

1RESTA pues, hermanos, que os roguemos y exhortemos en el Señor Jesús, que de la manera que fuisteis enseñados de nosotros de cómo os conviene andar, y agradar á Dios, así vayáis creciendo.
2Porque ya sabéis qué mandamientos os dimos por el Señor Jesús.
3Porque la voluntad de Dios es vuestra santificación: que os apartéis de fornicación;
4Que cada uno de vosotros sepa tener su vaso en santificación y honor;
5No con afecto de concupiscencia, como los Gentiles que no conocen á Dios:
6Que ninguno oprima, ni engañe en nada á su hermano: porque el Señor es vengador de todo esto, como ya os hemos dicho y protestado.
7Porque no nos ha llamado Dios á inmundicia, sino á santificación.
8Así que, el que menosprecia, no menosprecia á hombre, sino á Dios, el cual también nos dió su Espíritu Santo.
9Mas acerca de la caridad fraterna no habéis menester que os escriba: porque vosotros mismos habéis aprendido de Dios que os améis los unos á los otros;
10Y también lo hacéis así con todos los hermanos que están por toda Macedonia. Empero os rogamos, hermanos, que abundéis más;
11Y que procuréis tener quietud, y hacer vuestros negocios, y obréis de vuestras manos de la manera que os hemos mandado;
12A fin de que andéis honestamente para con los extraños, y no necesitéis de nada.
13Tampoco, hermanos, queremos que ignoréis acerca de los que duermen, que no os entristezcáis como los otros que no tienen esperanza.
14Porque si creemos que Jesús murió y resucitó, así también traerá Dios con él á los que durmieron en Jesús.
15Por lo cual, os decimos esto en palabra del Señor: que nosotros que vivimos, que habremos quedado hasta la venida del Señor, no seremos delanteros á los que durmieron.
16Porque el mismo Señor con aclamación, con voz de arcángel, y con trompeta de Dios, descenderá del cielo; y los muertos en Cristo resucitarán primero:
17Luego nosotros, los que vivimos, los que quedamos, juntamente con ellos seremos arrebatados en las nubes á recibir al Señor en el aire, y así estaremos siempre con el Señor.
18Por tanto, consolaos los unos á los otros en estas palabras.

1Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.
2For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.
3For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:
4That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;
5Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
6That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.
7For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
8He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
9But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
10And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;
11And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
12That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
13But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1Finally then, brothers, we beg and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God, that you abound more and more.
2For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
3For this is the will of God: your sanctification, that you abstain from sexual immorality,
4that each one of you know how to control his own body in sanctification and honor,
5not in the passion of lust, even as the Gentiles who don’t know God,
6that no one should take advantage of and wrong a brother or sister in this matter; because the Lord is an avenger in all these things, as also we forewarned you and testified.
7For God called us not for uncleanness, but in sanctification.
8Therefore he who rejects this doesn’t reject man, but God, who has also given his Holy Spirit to you.
9But concerning brotherly love, you have no need that one write to you. For you yourselves are taught by God to love one another,
10for indeed you do it toward all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, that you abound more and more;
11and that you make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we instructed you,
12that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.
13But we don’t want you to be ignorant, brothers, concerning those who have fallen asleep, so that you don’t grieve like the rest, who have no hope.
14For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.
15For this we tell you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will in no way precede those who have fallen asleep.
16For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with God’s trumpet. The dead in Christ will rise first,
17then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. So we will be with the Lord forever.
18Therefore comfort one another with these words.
