1Ora, quant'è a' tempi, ed alle stagioni, fratelli, voi non avete bisogno che ve ne sia scritto.
2Poichè voi stessi sapete molto bene che il giorno del Signore verrà come un ladro di notte.
3Perciocchè, quando diranno: Pace e sicurtà, allora di subito sopraggiungerà loro perdizione, come i dolori del parto alla donna gravida; e non iscamperanno punto.
4Ma voi, fratelli, non siete in tenebre, sì che quel giorno vi colga, a guisa di ladro.
5Voi tutti siete figliuoli di luce, e figliuoli di giorno; noi non siam della notte, nè delle tenebre.
6Perciò, non dormiamo, come gli altri; ma vegliamo, e siamo sobri.
7Perciocchè coloro che dormono dormono di notte, e coloro che s'inebbriano s'inebbriano di notte.
8Ma noi, essendo figliuoli del giorno, siamo sobri, vestiti dell'usbergo della fede, e della carità; e per elmo, della speranza della salute.
9Poichè Iddio non ci ha posti ad ira, ma ad acquisto di salute, per lo Signor nostro Gesù Cristo;
10il quale è morto per noi, acciocchè, o che vegliamo, o che dormiamo, viviamo insieme con lui.
11Perciò, consolatevi gli uni gli altri, ed edificate l'un l'altro, come ancora fate.
12ORA, fratelli, non vi preghiamo di riconoscer coloro che fra voi faticano, e che vi son preposti nel Signore, e che vi ammoniscono;
13e d'averli in somma stima in carità, per l'opera loro. Vivete in pace fra voi.
14Ora, fratelli, noi vi esortiamo che ammoniate i disordinati, confortiate i pusillanimi, sostentiate i deboli, siate pazienti inverso tutti.
15Guardate che niuno renda male per male ad alcuno; anzi procacciate sempre il bene, così gli uni inverso gli altri, come inverso tutti.
16Siate sempre allegri.
17Non restate mai d'orare.
18In ogni cosa rendete grazie, perciocchè tale è la volontà di Dio in Cristo Gesù inverso voi.
19Non ispegnete lo Spirito.
20Non isprezzate le profezie.
21Provate ogni cosa, ritenete il bene.
22Astenetevi da ogni apparenza di male.
23Or l'Iddio della pace vi santifichi egli stesso tutti intieri; e sia conservato intiero il vostro spirito, e l'anima, e il corpo, senza biasimo, all'avvenimento del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo.
24Fedeleè colui che vi chiama, il quale ancora lo farà.
25Fratelli, pregate per noi.
26Salutate tutti i fratelli con un santo bacio.
27Io vi scongiuro per lo Signore, che questa epistola sia letta a tutti i santi fratelli.
28La grazia del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo sia con voi. Amen.

1EMPERO acerca de los tiempos y de los momentos, no tenéis, hermanos, necesidad de que yo os escriba:
2Porque vosotros sabéis bien, que el día del Señor vendrá así como ladrón de noche,
3Que cuando dirán, Paz y seguridad, entonces vendrá sobre ellos destrucción de repente, como los dolores á la mujer preñada; y no escaparán.
4Mas vosotros, hermanos, no estáis en tinieblas, para que aquel día os sobrecoja como ladrón;
5Porque todos vosotros sois hijos de luz, é hijos del día; no somos de la noche, ni de las tinieblas.
6Por tanto, no durmamos como los demás; antes velemos y seamos sobrios.
7Porque los que duermen, de noche duermen; y los que están borrachos, de noche están borrachos.
8Mas nosotros, que somos del día, estemos sobrios, vestidos de cota de fe y de caridad, y la esperanza de salud por yelmo.
9Porque no nos ha puesto Dios para ira, sino para alcanzar salud por nuestro Señor Jesucristo;
10El cual murió por nosotros, para que ó que velemos, ó que durmamos, vivamos juntamente con él.
11Por lo cual, consolaos los unos á los otros, y edificaos los unos á los otros, así como lo hacéis.
12Y os rogamos, hermanos, que reconozcáis á los que trabajan entre vosotros, y os presiden en el Señor, y os amonestan:
13Y que los tengáis en mucha estima por amor de su obra. Tened paz los unos con los otros.
14También os rogamos, hermanos, que amonestéis á los que andan desordenadamente, que consoléis á los de poco ánimo, que soportéis á los flacos, que seáis sufridos para con todos.
15Mirad que ninguno dé á otro mal por mal; antes seguid lo bueno siempre los unos para con los otros, y para con todos.
16Estad siempre gozosos.
17Orad sin cesar.
18Dad gracias en todo; porque esta es la voluntad de Dios para con vosotros en Cristo Jesús.
19No apaguéis el Espíritu.
20No menospreciéis las profecías.
21Examinadlo todo; retened lo bueno.
22Apartaos de toda especie de mal.
23Y el Dios de paz os santifique en todo; para que vuestro espíritu y alma y cuerpo sea guardado entero sin reprensión para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
24Fiel es el que os ha llamado; el cual también lo hará.
25Hermanos, orad por nosotros.
26Saludad á todos los hermanos en ósculo santo.
27Conjúroos por el Señor, que esta carta sea leída á todos los santos hermanos.
28La gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea con vosotros. Amén. La primera epístola á los Tesalonicenses fué escrita de Atenas.

1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
12And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.

18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19Quench not the Spirit.
20Despise not prophesyings.
21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

1But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.

3For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they will in no way escape.

5You are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness,
6so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.
