1Or quanto ai tempi ed ai momenti, fratelli, non avete bisogno che vi se ne scriva;
2perché voi stessi sapete molto bene che il giorno del Signore verrà come viene un ladro nella notte.
3Quando diranno: Pace e sicurezza, allora di subito una improvvisa ruina verrà loro addosso, come le doglie alla donna incinta; e non scamperanno affatto.
4Ma voi, fratelli, non siete nelle tenebre, sì che quel giorno abbia a cogliervi a guisa di ladro;
5poiché voi tutti siete figliuoli di luce e figliuoli del giorno; noi non siamo della notte né delle tenebre;
6non dormiamo dunque come gli altri, ma vegliamo e siamo sobri.
7Poiché quelli che dormono, dormono di notte; e quelli che s’inebriano, s’inebriano di notte;
8ma noi, che siamo del giorno, siamo sobri, avendo rivestito la corazza della fede e dell’amore, e preso per elmo la speranza della salvezza.
9Poiché Iddio non ci ha destinati ad ira, ma ad ottener salvezza per mezzo del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo,
10il quale è morto per noi affinché, sia che vegliamo sia che dormiamo, viviamo insieme con lui.
11Perciò, consolatevi gli uni gli altri, ed edificatevi l’un l’altro, come d’altronde già fate.
12Or, fratelli, vi preghiamo di avere in considerazione coloro che faticano fra voi, che vi son preposti nel Signore e vi ammoniscono,
13e di tenerli in grande stima ed amarli a motivo dell’opera loro. Vivete in pace fra voi.
14V’esortiamo, fratelli, ad ammonire i disordinati, a confortare gli scoraggiati, a sostenere i deboli, ad esser longanimi verso tutti.
15Guardate che nessuno renda ad alcuno male per male; anzi procacciate sempre il bene gli uni degli altri, e quello di tutti.
16Siate sempre allegri;
17non cessate mai di pregare;
18in ogni cosa rendete grazie, poiché tale è la volontà di Dio in Cristo Gesù verso di voi.
19Non spegnete lo Spirito;
20non disprezzate le profezie;
21ma esaminate ogni cosa e ritenete il bene;
22astenetevi da ogni specie di male.
23Or l’Iddio della pace vi santifichi Egli stesso completamente; e l’intero essere vostro, lo spirito, l’anima ed il corpo, sia conservato irreprensibile, per la venuta del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo.
24Fedele è Colui che vi chiama, ed Egli farà anche questo.
25Fratelli, pregate per noi.
26Salutate tutti i fratelli con un santo bacio.
27Io vi scongiuro per il Signore a far sì che questa epistola sia letta a tutti i fratelli.
28La grazia del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo sia con voi.

1EMPERO acerca de los tiempos y de los momentos, no tenéis, hermanos, necesidad de que yo os escriba:
2Porque vosotros sabéis bien, que el día del Señor vendrá así como ladrón de noche,
3Que cuando dirán, Paz y seguridad, entonces vendrá sobre ellos destrucción de repente, como los dolores á la mujer preñada; y no escaparán.
4Mas vosotros, hermanos, no estáis en tinieblas, para que aquel día os sobrecoja como ladrón;
5Porque todos vosotros sois hijos de luz, é hijos del día; no somos de la noche, ni de las tinieblas.
6Por tanto, no durmamos como los demás; antes velemos y seamos sobrios.
7Porque los que duermen, de noche duermen; y los que están borrachos, de noche están borrachos.
8Mas nosotros, que somos del día, estemos sobrios, vestidos de cota de fe y de caridad, y la esperanza de salud por yelmo.
9Porque no nos ha puesto Dios para ira, sino para alcanzar salud por nuestro Señor Jesucristo;
10El cual murió por nosotros, para que ó que velemos, ó que durmamos, vivamos juntamente con él.
11Por lo cual, consolaos los unos á los otros, y edificaos los unos á los otros, así como lo hacéis.
12Y os rogamos, hermanos, que reconozcáis á los que trabajan entre vosotros, y os presiden en el Señor, y os amonestan:
13Y que los tengáis en mucha estima por amor de su obra. Tened paz los unos con los otros.
14También os rogamos, hermanos, que amonestéis á los que andan desordenadamente, que consoléis á los de poco ánimo, que soportéis á los flacos, que seáis sufridos para con todos.
15Mirad que ninguno dé á otro mal por mal; antes seguid lo bueno siempre los unos para con los otros, y para con todos.
16Estad siempre gozosos.
17Orad sin cesar.
18Dad gracias en todo; porque esta es la voluntad de Dios para con vosotros en Cristo Jesús.
19No apaguéis el Espíritu.
20No menospreciéis las profecías.
21Examinadlo todo; retened lo bueno.
22Apartaos de toda especie de mal.
23Y el Dios de paz os santifique en todo; para que vuestro espíritu y alma y cuerpo sea guardado entero sin reprensión para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
24Fiel es el que os ha llamado; el cual también lo hará.
25Hermanos, orad por nosotros.
26Saludad á todos los hermanos en ósculo santo.
27Conjúroos por el Señor, que esta carta sea leída á todos los santos hermanos.
28La gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea con vosotros. Amén. La primera epístola á los Tesalonicenses fué escrita de Atenas.

1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
12And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
16Rejoice evermore.
17Pray without ceasing.
18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19Quench not the Spirit.
20Despise not prophesyings.
21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

1But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.

3For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they will in no way escape.
4But you, brothers, aren’t in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief.
5You are all children of light and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness,
6so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.
