porque vosotros sabéis muy bien que como el ladrón de noche, así vendrá el día del Señor.
EMPERO acerca de los tiempos y de los momentos, no tenéis, hermanos, necesidad de que yo os escriba:
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.
Pues cuando los impíos estarán diciendo que hay paz y seguridad, entonces los sobrecogerá de repente la ruina, como el dolor de parto a la que está encinta, sin que puedan evitarla.
Porque vosotros sabéis bien, que el día del Señor vendrá así como ladrón de noche,
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.
Mas vosotros, hermanos, no vivís en las tinieblas del pecado, para que os sorprenda como ladrón aquel día;
Que cuando dirán, Paz y seguridad, entonces vendrá sobre ellos destrucción de repente, como los dolores á la mujer preñada; y no escaparán.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman. Then they will in no way escape.
puesto que todos vosotros sois hijos de la luz e hijos del día; no lo somos de la noche ni de las tinieblas.
Mas vosotros, hermanos, no estáis en tinieblas, para que aquel día os sobrecoja como ladrón;
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
But you, brothers, aren’t in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief.
No durmamos, pues, como los demás, antes bien estemos en vela, y vivamos con templanza.
Porque todos vosotros sois hijos de luz, é hijos del día; no somos de la noche, ni de las tinieblas.
Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Pues los que duermen, duermen de noche, y los que se embriagan, de noche se embriagan.
Por tanto, no durmamos como los demás; antes velemos y seamos sobrios.
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

Nosotros que somos hijos del día, o de la luz de la fe, vivamos en sobriedad, vestidos de cota de fe y de caridad, y teniendo por casco la esperanza de la salud eterna;
Porque los que duermen, de noche duermen; y los que están borrachos, de noche están borrachos.
For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
For those who sleep, sleep in the night; and those who are drunk are drunk in the night.
porque no nos ha puesto Dios para blanco de venganza, sino para hacernos adquirir la salud por nuestro Señor Jesucristo,
Mas nosotros, que somos del día, estemos sobrios, vestidos de cota de fe y de caridad, y la esperanza de salud por yelmo.
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

el cual murió por nosotros, a fin de que ora velando, ora durmiendo, vivamos con él.
Porque no nos ha puesto Dios para ira, sino para alcanzar salud por nuestro Señor Jesucristo;

Por lo cual consolaos mutuamente, y edificaos los unos a los otros, como ya lo hacéis.
El cual murió por nosotros, para que ó que velemos, ó que durmamos, vivamos juntamente con él.

Asimismo, hermanos, os rogamos que tengáis especial consideración a los que trabajan entre vosotros, y os gobiernan en el Señor, y os instruyen,

Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

dándoles las mayores muestras de caridad por sus desvelos; conservad la paz con ellos.
Y os rogamos, hermanos, que reconozcáis á los que trabajan entre vosotros, y os presiden en el Señor, y os amonestan:
And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
But we beg you, brothers, to know those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you,
Os rogamos también, hermanos, que corrijáis a los inquietos, que consoléis a los pusilánimes, que soportéis a los flacos, que seáis pacientes con todos.
Y que los tengáis en mucha estima por amor de su obra. Tened paz los unos con los otros.
And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

Procurad que ninguno vuelva a otro mal por mal; sino tratad de hacer siempre bien unos a otros, y a todo el mundo.
También os rogamos, hermanos, que amonestéis á los que andan desordenadamente, que consoléis á los de poco ánimo, que soportéis á los flacos, que seáis sufridos para con todos.
Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
We exhort you, brothers: Admonish the disorderly; encourage the faint-hearted; support the weak; be patient toward all.
Vivid siempre alegres.
Mirad que ninguno dé á otro mal por mal; antes seguid lo bueno siempre los unos para con los otros, y para con todos.
See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good for one another and for all.
Orad sin intermisión.
Estad siempre gozosos.
Rejoice evermore.
Always rejoice.
Dad gracias por todo al Señor; porque esto es lo que quiere Dios que hagáis todos en nombre de Jesucristo.

Pray without ceasing.
Pray without ceasing.
No apaguéis el Espíritu de Dios.
Dad gracias en todo; porque esta es la voluntad de Dios para con vosotros en Cristo Jesús.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

No despreciéis las profecías, apreciadlas.
No apaguéis el Espíritu.

Examinad, sí, todas las cosas, y ateneos a lo bueno y conforme a la buena nueva.
No menospreciéis las profecías.
Despise not prophesyings.
Don’t despise prophecies.
Apartaos aun de toda apariencia de mal.
Examinadlo todo; retened lo bueno.
Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Test all things, and hold firmly that which is good.
Y el Dios de la paz os haga santos en todo, a fin de que vuestro espíritu entero, con alma y cuerpo se conserven sin culpa para cuando venga nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
Apartaos de toda especie de mal.
Abstain from all appearance of evil.
Abstain from every form of evil.
Fiel es el que os llamó, y así lo hará como lo ha ofrecido.
Y el Dios de paz os santifique en todo; para que vuestro espíritu y alma y cuerpo sea guardado entero sin reprensión para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
May the God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Fiel es el que os ha llamado; el cual también lo hará.
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
