Paul, apôtre de Jésus-Christ, selon le commandement de Dieu notre Sauveur et de Jésus-Christ notre espérance,

à Timothée, mon légitime enfant en la foi : Grâce, miséricorde, paix, de la part de Dieu le Père et de Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur !

A Timoteo, verdadero hijo en la fe: Gracia, misericordia y paz de Dios nuestro Padre, y de Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor.

Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

Comme je t'exhortai, lorsque je partis pour la Macédoine, à demeurer à Ephèse, afin que tu recommandasses à certaines personnes de n'enseigner point une autre doctrine,

Como te rogué que te quedases en Efeso, cuando partí para Macedonia, para que requirieses á algunos que no enseñen diversa doctrina,

As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

As I urged you when I was going into Macedonia, stay at Ephesus that you might command certain men not to teach a different doctrine,

et de ne point s'attacher à des fables et à des généalogies interminables, qui produisent des disputes plutôt qu'elles n'avancent la dispensation de Dieu, qui est dans la foi...

Ni presten atención á fábulas y genealogías sin término, que antes engendran cuestiones que la edificación de Dios que es por fe; así te encargo ahora.

Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

and not to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than God’s stewardship, which is in faith.

Or le but de la recommandation, c'est une charité qui procède d'un cœur pur et d'une bonne conscience et d'une foi sincère ;

Pues el fin del mandamiento es la caridad nacida de corazón limpio, y de buena conciencia, y de fe no fingida:

Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

But the goal of this command is love from a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith,

dont quelques-uns s'étant détournés, se sont égarés dans de vains raisonnements ;

De lo cual distrayéndose algunos, se apartaron á vanas pláticas;

From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

from which things some, having missed the mark, have turned away to vain talking,

prétendant être docteurs de la loi, et ne sachant ni ce qu'ils disent ni ce qu'ils affirment.

Queriendo ser doctores de la ley, sin entender ni lo que hablan, ni lo que afirman.

Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say nor about what they strongly affirm.

Or, nous savons que la loi est bonne, pourvu qu'on en use légitimement,

Sabemos empero que la ley es buena, si alguno usa de ella legítimamente;

But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;

sachant ceci, que ce n'est pas pour le juste que la loi est établie, mais pour les iniques et les rebelles, les impies et les pécheurs, les immoraux et les profanes, les meurtriers de père et de mère, les homicides ;

Conociendo esto, que la ley no es puesta para el justo, sino para los injustos y para los desobedientes, para los impíos y pecadores, para los malos y profanos, para los parricidas y matricidas, para los homicidas,

Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

les fornicateurs, les abominables, les voleurs d'hommes, les menteurs, les parjures, et tout ce qui est contraire à la saine doctrine,

Para los fornicarios, para los sodomitas, para los ladrones de hombres, para los mentirosos y perjuros, y si hay alguna otra cosa contraria á la sana doctrina;

For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine,

selon l'Evangile de la gloire du Dieu bienheureux, qui m'a été confié.

Según el evangelio de la gloria del Dios bendito, el cual á mí me ha sido encargado.

According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

Je rends grâces à Celui qui m'a fortifié, Jésus-Christ notre Seigneur, de ce qu'il m'a estimé fidèle, en m'établissant dans le ministère,

moi qui étais auparavant un blasphémateur et un persécuteur et un homme violent ; mais j'ai obtenu miséricorde parce que j'ai agi par ignorance, dans l'incrédulité ;

Habiendo sido antes blasfemo y perseguidor é injuriador: mas fuí recibido á misericordia, porque lo hice con ignorancia en incredulidad.

Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

mais la grâce de notre Seigneur a surabondé, avec la foi et la charité qui est en Jésus-Christ.

Mas la gracia de nuestro Señor fué más abundante con la fe y amor que es en Cristo Jesús.

And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Cette parole est certaine, et digne de toute acceptation, que Jésus-Christ est venu dans le monde pour sauver les pécheurs, dont je suis le premier.

Palabra fiel y digna de ser recibida de todos: que Cristo Jesús vino al mundo para salvar á los pecadores, de los cuales yo soy el primero.

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Mais à cause de ceci j'ai obtenu miséricorde, afin que Jésus-Christ fît voir, en moi le premier, toute sa longanimité, pour que je servisse d'exemple à ceux qui croiront en lui pour la vie éternelle.

Mas por esto fuí recibido á misericordia, para que Jesucristo mostrase en mí el primero toda su clemencia, para ejemplo de los que habían de creer en él para vida eterna.

Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

La recommandation que je t'adresse, Timothée, mon enfant, c'est que, conformément aux prophéties qui ont été faites autrefois de toi, tu combattes par elles le bon combat,

Este mandamiento, hijo Timoteo, te encargo, para que, conforme á las profecías pasadas de ti, milites por ellas buena milicia;

This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;

I commit this instruction to you, my child Timothy, according to the prophecies which were given to you before, that by them you may wage the good warfare,

conservant la foi, et une bonne conscience, laquelle quelques-uns ayant rejetée, ils ont fait naufrage quant à la foi,

Manteniendo la fe y buena conciencia, la cual echando de sí algunos, hicieron naufragio en la fe:

Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

du nombre desquels sont Hyménée et Alexandre, que j'ai livrés à Satan, afin qu'ils apprennent à ne pas blasphémer.

De los cuales son Himeneo y Alejandro, los cuales entregué á Satanás, para que aprendan á no blasfemar.

Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
