Paul, apôtre de Jésus Christ, selon le commandement de Dieu notre Sauveur et du christ Jésus notre espérance,

à Timothée, †mon véritable enfant dans la foi : Grâce, miséricorde, paix, de la part de Dieu le Père et du christ Jésus notre Seigneur !

A Timoteo, verdadero hijo en la fe: Gracia, misericordia y paz de Dios nuestro Padre, y de Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor.

Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.

Comme je t’ai prié de rester à Éphèse lorsque j’allais en Macédoine, afin que tu ordonnes à certaines personnes de ne pas enseigner des doctrines étrangères,

Como te rogué que te quedases en Efeso, cuando partí para Macedonia, para que requirieses á algunos que no enseñen diversa doctrina,

As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine,

As I urged you when I was going into Macedonia, stay at Ephesus that you might command certain men not to teach a different doctrine,

et de ne pas s’attacher aux fables et aux généalogies interminables, qui produisent des disputes plutôt que l’administration de Dieu, qui est par la foi…

Ni presten atención á fábulas y genealogías sin término, que antes engendran cuestiones que la edificación de Dios que es por fe; así te encargo ahora.

Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do.

and not to pay attention to myths and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than God’s stewardship, which is in faith.

Or la fin de l’ordonnance, c’est l’amour qui procède d’un cœur pur et d’une bonne conscience et d’une foi sincère,

Pues el fin del mandamiento es la caridad nacida de corazón limpio, y de buena conciencia, y de fe no fingida:

Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

But the goal of this command is love from a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith,

desquels quelques-uns s’étant écartés, se sont détournés à un vain babil,

De lo cual distrayéndose algunos, se apartaron á vanas pláticas;

From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

from which things some, having missed the mark, have turned away to vain talking,

voulant être docteurs de la loi, n’entendant ni ce qu’ils disent, ni ce sur quoi ils insistent.

Queriendo ser doctores de la ley, sin entender ni lo que hablan, ni lo que afirman.

Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.

Mais nous savons que la loi est bonne, si quelqu’un en use légitimement,

Sabemos empero que la ley es buena, si alguno usa de ella legítimamente;

But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;

sachant ceci, que †la loi n’est pas pour le juste, mais pour les iniques et les insubordonnés, pour les impies et les pécheurs, pour les gens sans piété et les profanes, pour les batteurs de père et les batteurs de mère, pour les homicides,

Conociendo esto, que la ley no es puesta para el justo, sino para los injustos y para los desobedientes, para los impíos y pecadores, para los malos y profanos, para los parricidas y matricidas, para los homicidas,

Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

pour les fornicateurs, pour ceux qui abusent d’eux-mêmes avec des hommes, pour les voleurs d’hommes, les menteurs, les parjures, et s’il y a quelque autre chose qui soit opposée à la saine doctrine,

Para los fornicarios, para los sodomitas, para los ladrones de hombres, para los mentirosos y perjuros, y si hay alguna otra cosa contraria á la sana doctrina;

For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

for the sexually immoral, for homosexuals, for slave-traders, for liars, for perjurers, and for any other thing contrary to the sound doctrine,

suivant l’évangile de la gloire du Dieu bienheureux, qui m’a été confié.

Según el evangelio de la gloria del Dios bendito, el cual á mí me ha sido encargado.

According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

Et je rends grâces au christ Jésus, notre Seigneur, qui m’a fortifié, de ce qu’il m’a estimé fidèle, m’ayant établi dans le service,

moi qui auparavant étais un blasphémateur, et un persécuteur, et un outrageux ; mais miséricorde m’a été faite, parce que j’ai agi dans l’ignorance, dans l’incrédulité ;

Habiendo sido antes blasfemo y perseguidor é injuriador: mas fuí recibido á misericordia, porque lo hice con ignorancia en incredulidad.

Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

et la grâce de notre Seigneur a surabondé avec la foi et l’amour qui est dans le christ Jésus.

Mas la gracia de nuestro Señor fué más abundante con la fe y amor que es en Cristo Jesús.

And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Cette parole est certaine et digne de toute acceptation, que le christ Jésus est venu dans le monde pour sauver les pécheurs, dont moi je suis le premier.

Palabra fiel y digna de ser recibida de todos: que Cristo Jesús vino al mundo para salvar á los pecadores, de los cuales yo soy el primero.

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

Mais miséricorde m’a été faite, à cause de ceci, †savoir afin qu’en moi, le premier, Jésus Christ montre toute sa patience, afin que je sois un exemple de ceux qui viendront à croire en lui pour la vie éternelle.

Mas por esto fuí recibido á misericordia, para que Jesucristo mostrase en mí el primero toda su clemencia, para ejemplo de los que habían de creer en él para vida eterna.

Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

Je te confie cette ordonnance, †mon enfant Timothée, selon les prophéties qui ont été précédemment faites à ton sujet, afin que par elles tu combattes le bon combat,

Este mandamiento, hijo Timoteo, te encargo, para que, conforme á las profecías pasadas de ti, milites por ellas buena milicia;

This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;

gardant la foi et une bonne conscience, que quelques-uns ayant rejetée, ils ont fait naufrage quant à la foi ;

Manteniendo la fe y buena conciencia, la cual echando de sí algunos, hicieron naufragio en la fe:

Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck:

du nombre desquels sont Hyménée et Alexandre, que j’ai livrés à Satan, afin qu’ils apprennent à ne pas blasphémer.

De los cuales son Himeneo y Alejandro, los cuales entregué á Satanás, para que aprendan á no blasfemar.

Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
