Zutreffend ist das Wort: »Wer nach dem Vorsteheramt strebt, begehrt eine köstliche Wirksamkeit.«

PALABRA fiel: Si alguno apetece obispado, buena obra desea.

This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

This is a faithful saying: someone who seeks to be an overseer desires a good work.

So muß denn der Vorsteher unbescholten sein, eines Weibes Mann, nüchtern, besonnen, ehrbar, gastfrei, ein tüchtiger Lehrer,

Conviene, pues, que el obispo sea irreprensible, marido de una mujer, solícito, templado, compuesto, hospedador, apto para enseñar;

A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, good at teaching;

kein Trinker und kein Händelsucher, sondern freundlich, frei von Streitsucht und Geldgier,

No amador del vino, no heridor, no codicioso de torpes ganancias, sino moderado, no litigioso, ajeno de avaricia;

Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

not a drinker, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous;

ein Mann, der seinem eigenen Hause gut vorsteht, indem er seine Kinder in Zucht hält mit aller Würde;

Que gobierne bien su casa, que tenga sus hijos en sujeción con toda honestidad;

One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence;

denn wenn jemand seinem eigenen Hause nicht vorzustehen weiß, wie sollte der für eine Gemeinde Gottes sorgen können?

(Porque el que no sabe gobernar su casa, ¿cómo cuidará de la iglesia de Dios?)

(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

(for how could someone who doesn’t know how to rule his own house take care of God’s assembly?)

Er darf auch kein Neubekehrter sein, sonst könnte er leicht in Hochmut geraten und der Beurteilung des Verleumders anheimfallen.

No un neófito, porque inflándose no caiga en juicio del diablo.

Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Er muß sich aber auch bei denen, die draußen sind, eines guten Rufes erfreuen, damit er nicht in üble Nachrede gerät und in die Schlinge des Verleumders.

También conviene que tenga buen testimonio de los extraños, porque no caiga en afrenta y en lazo del diablo.

Männer, die das Geheimnis des Glaubens in einem reinen Gewissen bewahren.

Aber auch sie sollen zunächst einer Prüfung unterzogen werden und erst dann den Dienst ausüben, wenn sie unbescholten (erfunden) sind.

Ebenso müssen auch ihre Frauen ehrbar sein, nicht klatschsüchtig, nüchtern, zuverlässig in allen Beziehungen.

Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

denn die, welche den Dienst als Gehilfen gut versehen haben, erwerben sich dadurch eine wertvolle Vertrauensstellung und das Recht, im Vertrauen auf Christus Jesus mit voller Zuversicht aufzutreten.

Porque los que bien ministraren, ganan para sí buen grado, y mucha confianza en la fe que es en Cristo Jesús.

For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

For those who have served well gain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Dies schreibe ich dir in der Hoffnung, recht bald zu dir kommen zu können;

sollte sich mein Kommen jedoch verzögern, so sollst du dir klar darüber sein, wie man sich im Hause Gottes zu verhalten hat, das da ist die Gemeinde des lebendigen Gottes, die Säule und Grundfeste der Wahrheit.

Y si no fuere tan presto, para que sepas cómo te conviene conversar en la casa de Dios, que es la iglesia del Dios vivo, columna y apoyo de la verdad.

But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

Und etwas unbestreitbar Großes ist das Geheimnis der Gottseligkeit: »Er, der geoffenbart ist im Fleisch, als gerecht erwiesen im Geist, erschienen den Sendboten, verkündigt unter den Völkern, gläubig angenommen in der Welt, emporgehoben in die Herrlichkeit.«

Y sin contradicción, grande es el misterio de la piedad: Dios ha sido manifestado en carne; ha sido justificado con el Espíritu; ha sido visto de los ángeles; ha sido predicado á los Gentiles; ha sido creído en el mundo; ha sido recibido en gloria.

And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Without controversy, the mystery of godliness is great: God was revealed in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and received up in glory.
