2Mientras tanto, los amigos de Jeroboán hijo de Nabat, le habían enviado noticias de la muerte de Salomón. Jeroboán se encontraba en Egipto, a donde había huido para escapar del rey Salomón. Regresó, pues, rápidamente y se hizo presente en los actos de la coronación, y, junto con los jefes de las tribus del norte, dio a conocer a Roboán las demandas del pueblo:

2Y como lo oyó Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el cual estaba en Egipto, donde había huído á causa del rey Salomón, volvió de Egipto.

2And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was in Egypt, whither he had fled from the presence of Solomon the king, heard it, that Jeroboam returned out of Egypt.

2When Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was in Egypt, where he had fled from the presence of King Solomon), Jeroboam returned out of Egypt.
