Et Roboam se rendit à Sichem, car tout Israël était venu à Sichem pour le faire roi.

Y ROBOAM fué á Sichêm porque en Sichêm se había juntado todo Israel para hacerlo rey.

And Rehoboam went to Shechem: for to Shechem were all Israel come to make him king.

Et quand Jéroboam, fils de Nébat, reçut la nouvelle †de la mort de Salomon, il était en Egypte, où il s'était enfui pour échapper au roi Salomon, Jéroboam revint d'Egypte.

Y como lo oyó Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el cual estaba en Egipto, donde había huído á causa del rey Salomón, volvió de Egipto.

And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was in Egypt, whither he had fled from the presence of Solomon the king, heard it, that Jeroboam returned out of Egypt.

When Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it (for he was in Egypt, where he had fled from the presence of King Solomon), Jeroboam returned out of Egypt.

Et on l'envoya chercher, et Jéroboam vint avec tout Israël, et ils parlèrent à Roboam, en disant :

Y enviaron y llamáronle. Vino pues Jeroboam, y todo Israel, y hablaron á Roboam, diciendo:

And they sent and called him. So Jeroboam and all Israel came and spake to Rehoboam, saying,

They sent and called him; and Jeroboam and all Israel came, and they spoke to Rehoboam, saying,

Ton père nous a chargés d'un joug pesant ; maintenant allège cette dure servitude et le joug pesant que ton père a mis sur nous, et nous te servirons.

Tu padre agravó nuestro yugo: afloja tú, pues, ahora algo de la dura servidumbre, y del grave yugo con que tu padre nos apremió, y te serviremos.

Thy father made our yoke grievous: now therefore ease thou somewhat the grievous servitude of thy father, and his heavy yoke that he put upon us, and we will serve thee.

“Your father made our yoke grievous. Now therefore make the grievous service of your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, lighter, and we will serve you.”

Et il leur dit : Revenez vers moi dans trois jours. Et le peuple se retira.

Y él les dijo: Volved á mí de aquí á tres días. Y el pueblo se fué.

And he said unto them, Come again unto me after three days. And the people departed.

He said to them, “Come again to me after three days.” So the people departed.

Et le roi Roboam tint conseil avec les vieillards qui avaient été au service de Salomon, son père, pendant sa vie, et il leur dit : Quelle réponse me conseillez-vous de faire à ce peuple ?

Entonces el rey Roboam tomó consejo con los viejos, que habían estado delante de Salomón su padre cuando vivía, y díjoles: ¿Cómo aconsejáis vosotros que responda á este pueblo?

And king Rehoboam took counsel with the old men that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, What counsel give ye me to return answer to this people?

King Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, who had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying, “What counsel do you give me about how to answer these people?”

Et ils lui parlèrent en ces termes : Si tu te montres bon à l'égard de ce peuple et que tu les traites avec bienveillance, et que tu leur parles avec bonté, ils seront tes serviteurs à toujours.

Y ellos le hablaron, diciendo: Si te condujeres humanamente con este pueblo, y los agradares, y les hablares buenas palabras, ellos te servirán perpetuamente.

And they spake unto him, saying, If thou be kind to this people, and please them, and speak good words to them, they will be thy servants for ever.

They spoke to him, saying, “If you are kind to these people, please them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.”

Et il laissa de côté le conseil que les vieillards lui avaient donné et il tint conseil avec les jeunes gens qui avaient grandi avec lui †et qui le servaient.

Mas él, dejando el consejo que le dieron los viejos, tomó consejo con los mancebos que se habían criado con él, y que delante de él asistían;

But he forsook the counsel which the old men gave him, and took counsel with the young men that were brought up with him, that stood before him.

But he abandoned the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.

Et il leur dit : Que conseillez-vous que nous répondions à ce peuple qui m'a parlé en disant : Allège le joug que ton père a mis sur nous !

Y díjoles: ¿Qué aconsejáis vosotros que respondamos á este pueblo, que me ha hablado, diciendo: Alivia algo del yugo que tu padre puso sobre nosotros?

And he said unto them, What advice give ye that we may return answer to this people, which have spoken to me, saying, Ease somewhat the yoke that thy father did put upon us?

He said to them, “What counsel do you give, that we may give an answer to these people, who have spoken to me, saying, ‘Make the yoke that your father put on us lighter’?”

Et les jeunes gens qui avaient grandi avec lui, lui parlèrent en ces termes : Voici ce que tu diras au peuple qui t'a tenu ce langage : Ton père a mis sur nous un joug pesant, mais toi, allège-le. Tu leur parleras ainsi : Mon petit doigt est plus gros que le corps de mon père.

Entonces los mancebos que se habían criado con él, le hablaron, diciendo: Así dirás al pueblo que te ha hablado diciendo, Tu padre agravó nuestro yugo, mas tú descárganos: así les dirás: Lo más menudo mío es más grueso que los lomos de mi padre.

And the young men that were brought up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou answer the people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it somewhat lighter for us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s loins.

The young men who had grown up with him spoke to him, saying, “Thus you shall tell the people who spoke to you, saying, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but make it lighter on us;’ thus you shall say to them, ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s waist.

Eh bien ! mon père vous a chargés d'un joug pesant, et moi, je le rendrai encore plus pesant ; mon père vous a corrigés avec le fouet, et moi, ce sera avec le martinet.

Así que, mi padre os cargó de grave yugo, y yo añadiré á vuestro yugo: mi padre os castigó con azotes, y yo con escorpiones.

For whereas my father put a heavy yoke upon you, I will put more to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

Now whereas my father burdened you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.’”

Et Jéroboam et tout le peuple se présentèrent à Roboam le troisième jour, suivant ce que leur avait dit le roi : Revenez vers moi dans trois jours.

Vino pues Jeroboam con todo el pueblo á Roboam al tercer día: según el rey les había mandado diciendo: Volved á mí de aquí á tres días.

So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day, as the king bade, saying, Come again to me on the third day.

So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king asked, saying, “Come to me again the third day.”

Et le roi leur répondit durement ; et le roi Roboam laissa là le conseil des vieillards.

Y respondióles el rey ásperamente; pues dejó el rey Roboam el consejo de los viejos,

And the king answered them roughly; and king Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the old men,

The king answered them roughly; and King Rehoboam abandoned the counsel of the old men,

Et il leur parla d'après le conseil des jeunes gens, en disant : Mon père a mis sur vous un joug pesant, et moi, je le rendrai encore plus pesant ; mon père vous a corrigés avec le fouet, et moi, ce sera avec le martinet.

Y hablóles conforme al consejo de los mancebos, diciendo: Mi padre agravó vuestro yugo, y yo añadiré á vuestro yugo: mi padre os castigó con azotes, y yo con escorpiones.

And answered them after the advice of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add thereto: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.

and spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, “My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it. My father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.”

Et le roi n'avait pas écouté le peuple, parce que c'était une dispensation de Dieu, afin que l'Eternel accomplit la parole qu'il avait adressée par le ministère d'Ahija, de Silo, à Jéroboam, fils de Nébat.

Y no escuchó el rey al pueblo; porque la causa era de Dios, para cumplir Jehová su palabra que había hablado, por Ahías Silonita, á Jeroboam hijo de Nabat.

So the king hearkened not unto the people: for the cause was of God, that the LORD might perform his word, which he spake by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

So the king didn’t listen to the people; for it was brought about by God, that the LORD might establish his word, which he spoke by Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.

Et tout Israël vit que le roi ne les écoutait point, et le peuple répondit au roi en disant : Quelle part avons-nous avec David ? Nous n'avons point d'héritage avec le fils d'Isaï ! Chacun à vos tentes, Israël ! Maintenant, pourvois à ta maison, David ! Et tout Israël s'en alla, chacun chez soi.

Y viendo todo Israel que el rey no les había oído, respondió el pueblo al rey, diciendo: ¿Qué parte tenemos nosotros con David, ni herencia en el hijo de Isaí? ¡Israel, cada uno á sus estancias! ¡David, mira ahora por tu casa! Así se fué todo Israel á sus estancias.

And when all Israel saw that the king would not hearken unto them, the people answered the king, saying, What portion have we in David? and we have none inheritance in the son of Jesse: every man to your tents, O Israel: and now, David, see to thine own house. So all Israel went to their tents.

When all Israel saw that the king didn’t listen to them, the people answered the king, saying, “What portion do we have in David? We don’t have an inheritance in the son of Jesse! Every man to your tents, Israel! Now see to your own house, David.” So all Israel departed to their tents.

Et quant aux fils d'Israël qui demeuraient dans les villes de Juda, Roboam régna sur eux.

Mas reinó Roboam sobre los hijos de Israel que habitaban en las ciudades de Judá.

But as for the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

But as for the children of Israel who lived in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.

Et le roi Roboam envoya Adoram, qui était préposé aux corvées ; et les fils d'Israël l'assommèrent à coups de pierre, et il mourut ; et le roi Roboam se hâta de monter sur un char, pour s'enfuir à Jérusalem.

Envió luego el rey Roboam á Adoram, que tenía cargo de los tributos; pero le apedrearon los hijos de Israel, y murió. Entonces se esforzó el rey Roboam, y subiendo en un carro huyó á Jerusalem.

Then king Rehoboam sent Hadoram that was over the tribute; and the children of Israel stoned him with stones, that he died. But king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

Then King Rehoboam sent Hadoram, who was over the men subject to forced labor; and the children of Israel stoned him to death with stones. King Rehoboam hurried to get himself up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.

Et Israël a été révolté contre la maison de David jusqu'à ce jour.

Así se apartó Israel de la casa de David hasta hoy.

And Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.

So Israel rebelled against David’s house to this day.
