Fortalecido Roboam, y asegurado en el reino, abandonó la ley del Señor, e hizo lo mismo todo Israel a su ejemplo.
Y COMO Roboam hubo confirmado el reino, dejó la ley de Jehová, y con él todo Israel.
And it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom, and had strengthened himself, he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.

Por tanto, el año quinto del reinado de Roboam (por haber pecado los israelitas contra el Señor), vino Sesac, rey de Egipto, contra Jerusalén ,
Y en el quinto año del rey Roboam subió Sisac rey de Egipto contra Jerusalem, (por cuanto se habían rebelado contra Jehová,)

Then came Shemaiah the prophet to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me, and therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.

A lo que respondieron consternados, así el rey como los príncipes de Israel: Justo es el Señor.
Y los príncipes de Israel y el rey se humillaron, y dijeron: Justo es Jehová.

En lugar de los cuales mandó el rey hacer otros de bronce, entregándolos a los capitanes de los guardias que guardaban el atrio o las puertas de palacio;
Y en lugar de ellos hizo el rey Roboam paveses de metal, y entrególos en manos de los jefes de la guardia, los cuales custodiaban la entrada de la casa del rey.

Mas, en fin, por haberse humillado, calmó la ira del Señor contra ellos, y no fueron enteramente destruidos; a causa de que aún se hallaron buenas obras en Judá.

Con esto se alentó Roboam, y continuó reinando en Jerusalén . Cuarenta y un años tenía cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó diecisiete años en Jerusalén , ciudad escogida por el Señor entre todas las tribus de Israel, para establecer en ella el culto de su Nombre. Se llamaba su madre Naama, y era amonita.
Fortificado pues Roboam, reinó en Jerusalem: y era Roboam de cuarenta y un años cuando comenzó á reinar, y diecisiete años reinó en Jerusalem, ciudad que escogió Jehová de todas las tribus de Israel, para poner en ella su nombre. Y el nombre de su madre fué Naama Ammonita.

Roboam obró el mal; y no dirigió su corazón en busca del Señor.
E hizo lo malo, porque no apercibió su corazón para buscar á Jehová.

Al fin pasó Roboam a descansar con sus padres, y lo enterraron en la ciudad de David; sucediéndole en el reino su hijo Abía.
