Y DURMIÓ Abías con sus padres, y fué sepultado en la ciudad de David. Y reinó en su lugar su hijo Asa, en cuyos días tuvo sosiego el país por diez años.

(H14-1) Asa fece ciò ch’è buono e retto agli occhi dell’Eterno, del suo Dio.
E hizo Asa lo bueno y lo recto en los ojos de Jehová su Dios.

(H14-2) Tolse via gli altari degli dèi stranieri, e gli alti luoghi; spezzò le statue, abbatté gl’idoli d’Astarte;
Porque quitó los altares del culto ajeno, y los altos; quebró las imágenes, y taló los bosques;
For he took away the altars of the strange gods, and the high places, and brake down the images, and cut down the groves:

(H14-3) e ordinò a Giuda di cercare l’Eterno, l’Iddio de’ suoi padri, e di mettere ad effetto la sua legge ed i suoi comandamenti.
Y mandó á Judá que buscasen á Jehová el Dios de sus padres, y pusiesen por obra la ley y sus mandamientos.
And commanded Judah to seek the LORD God of their fathers, and to do the law and the commandment.

(H14-4) Tolse anche via da tutte le città di Giuda gli alti luoghi e le colonne solari; e, sotto di lui, il regno ebbe requie.
Quitó asimismo de todas las ciudades de Judá los altos y las imágenes, y estuvo el reino quieto delante de él.

(H14-5) Egli costruì delle città fortificate in Giuda, giacché il paese era tranquillo, e in quegli anni non v’era alcuna guerra contro di lui, perché l’Eterno gli avea data requie.
Y edificó ciudades fuertes en Judá, por cuanto había paz en la tierra, y no había guerra contra él en aquellos tiempos; porque Jehová le había dado reposo.
And he built fenced cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest.

(H14-6) Egli diceva a quei di Giuda: “Costruiamo queste città, e circondiamole di mura, di torri, di porte e di sbarre; il paese è ancora a nostra disposizione, perché abbiamo cercato l’Eterno, il nostro Dio; noi l’abbiamo cercato, ed egli ci ha dato riposo d’ogni intorno”. Essi dunque si misero a costruire, e prosperarono.
Dijo por tanto á Judá: Edifiquemos estas ciudades, y cerquémoslas de muros con torres, puertas, y barras, ya que la tierra es nuestra: porque hemos buscado á Jehová nuestro Dios, hémosle buscado, y él nos ha dado reposo de todas partes. Edificaron pues, y fueron prosperados.
Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

(H14-7) Asa aveva un esercito di trecentomila uomini di Giuda che portavano scudo e lancia, e di duecento ottantamila di Beniamino che portavano scudo e tiravan d’arco, tutti uomini forti e valorosi.
Tuvo también Asa ejército que traía escudos y lanzas: de Judá trescientos mil, y de Benjamín doscientos y ochenta mil que traían escudos y flechaban arcos; todos hombres diestros.
And Asa had an army of men that bare targets and spears, out of Judah three hundred thousand; and out of Benjamin, that bare shields and drew bows, two hundred and fourscore thousand: all these were mighty men of valour.

(H14-8) Zerah, l’Etiopo, uscì contro di loro con un esercito d’un milione d’uomini e trecento carri, e si avanzò fino a Maresha.
Y salió contra ellos Zera Etiope con un ejército de mil millares, y trescientos carros; y vino hasta Maresa.
And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots; and came unto Mareshah.

(H14-9) Asa gli mosse contro, e si disposero in ordine di battaglia nella valle di Tsefatha presso Maresha.
Entonces salió Asa contra él, y ordenaron la batalla en el valle de Sephata junto á Maresa.

(H14-10) Allora Asa invocò l’Eterno, il suo Dio, disse: “O Eterno, per te non v’è differenza tra il dar soccorso a chi è in gran numero, e il darlo a chi è senza forza; soccorrici, o Eterno, o nostro Dio! poiché su te noi ci appoggiamo, e nel tuo nome siam venuti contro questa moltitudine. Tu sei l’Eterno, il nostro Dio; non la vinca l’uomo a petto di te!”
Y clamó Asa á Jehová su Dios, y dijo: Jehová, no tienes tú más con el grande que con el que ninguna fuerza tiene, para dar ayuda. Ayúdanos, oh Jehová Dios nuestro, porque en ti nos apoyamos, y en tu nombre venimos contra este ejército. Oh Jehová, tú eres nuestro Dios: no prevalezca contra ti el hombre.
And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.
Asa cried to the LORD his God, and said, “LORD, there is no one besides you to help, between the mighty and him who has no strength. Help us, LORD our God; for we rely on you, and in your name we have come against this multitude. LORD, you are our God. Don’t let man prevail against you.”
(H14-11) E l’Eterno sconfisse gli Etiopi davanti ad Asa e davanti a Giuda, e gli Etiopi si diedero alla fuga.

(H14-12) Ed Asa e la gente ch’era con lui li inseguirono fino a Gherar; e degli Etiopi ne caddero tanti, che non ne rimase più uno di vivo; poiché furono rotti davanti all’Eterno e davanti al suo esercito. E Asa ed i suoi portaron via un immenso bottino;
Y Asa, y el pueblo que con él estaba, lo siguió hasta Gerar: y cayeron los Etiopes hasta no quedar en ellos aliento; porque fueron deshechos delante de Jehová y de su ejército. Y les tomaron muy grande despojo.
And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them unto Gerar: and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves; for they were destroyed before the LORD, and before his host; and they carried away very much spoil.
Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Gerar. So many of the Ethiopians fell that they could not recover themselves, for they were destroyed before the LORD and before his army. Judah’s army carried away very much booty.
(H14-13) e batteron tutte le città nei dintorni di Gherar, perché lo spavento dell’Eterno s’era impadronito d’esse; e quelli saccheggiarono tutte le città; perché v’era molto bottino;
Batieron también todas las ciudades alrededor de Gerar, porque el terror de Jehová fué sobre ellos: y saquearon todas las ciudades, porque había en ellas gran despojo.
And they smote all the cities round about Gerar; for the fear of the LORD came upon them: and they spoiled all the cities; for there was exceeding much spoil in them.

(H14-14) fecero pure man bassa sui chiusi delle mandre, e menaron via gran numero di pecore e di cammelli. Poi tornarono a Gerusalemme.
Asimismo dieron sobre las cabañas de los ganados, y trajeron muchas ovejas y camellos, y volviéronse á Jerusalem.
