1Et Josaphat eut beaucoup de richesses et de gloire ; et il s’allia par mariage avec Achab.
2Et au bout de quelques années, il descendit vers Achab à Samarie ; et Achab tua pour lui et pour le peuple qui était avec lui du menu et du gros bétail en abondance, et il le persuada de monter contre Ramoth de Galaad.
3Et Achab, roi d’Israël, dit à Josaphat, roi de Juda : Viendras-tu avec moi à Ramoth de Galaad ? Et il lui dit : Moi, je suis comme toi, et mon peuple comme ton peuple ; et [je serai] avec toi dans la guerre.
4Et Josaphat dit au roi d’Israël : Enquiers-toi aujourd’hui, je te prie, de la parole de l’Éternel.
5Et le roi d’Israël rassembla les prophètes, 400 hommes, et leur dit : Irons-nous à la guerre contre Ramoth de Galaad, ou m’en abstiendrai-je ? Et ils dirent : Monte ; et Dieu la livrera en la main du roi.
6Et Josaphat dit : N’y a-t-il pas ici encore un prophète de l’Éternel, pour que nous nous enquérions auprès de lui ?
7Et le roi d’Israël dit à Josaphat : Il y a encore un homme, pour consulter l’Éternel par lui ; mais je le hais, car il ne prophétise pas du bien à mon égard, mais toujours du mal ; c’est Michée, fils de Jimla. Et Josaphat dit : Que le roi ne parle pas ainsi !
8Et le roi d’Israël appela un eunuque, et dit : Fais promptement venir Michée, fils de Jimla.
9Et le roi d’Israël et Josaphat, roi de Juda, étaient assis chacun sur son trône, revêtus de leurs robes ; ils étaient assis sur une place ouverte à l’entrée de la porte de Samarie ; et tous les prophètes prophétisaient devant eux.
10Et Sédécias, fils de Kenaana, se fit des cornes de fer, et dit : Ainsi dit l’Éternel : Avec celles-ci tu heurteras les Syriens jusqu’à les exterminer.
11Et tous les prophètes prophétisaient de même, disant : Monte à Ramoth de Galaad, et prospère ; et l’Éternel la livrera en la main du roi.
12Et le messager qui était allé pour appeler Michée lui parla, disant : Voici, les paroles des prophètes, d’une seule bouche, [annoncent] du bien au roi ; que ta parole donc soit, je te prie, comme celle de l’un d’eux, et annonce du bien.
13Mais Michée dit : L’Éternel est vivant, que ce que mon Dieu dira, je l’annoncerai.
14Et il vint vers le roi. Et le roi lui dit : Michée, irons-nous à la guerre à Ramoth de Galaad, ou m’en abstiendrai-je ? Et il dit : Montez et prospérez ; et ils seront livrés entre vos mains.
15Et le roi lui dit : Combien de fois t’adjurerai-je de ne me dire que la vérité au nom de l’Éternel ?
16Et [Michée] dit : J’ai vu tout Israël dispersé sur les montagnes comme un troupeau qui n’a pas de berger ; et l’Éternel a dit : Ceux-ci n’ont pas de seigneur ; qu’ils s’en retournent en paix chacun à sa maison.
17Et le roi d’Israël dit à Josaphat : Ne t’ai-je pas dit qu’il ne prophétise pas du bien à mon égard, mais du mal ?
18Et [Michée] dit : C’est pourquoi, écoutez la parole de l’Éternel. J’ai vu l’Éternel assis sur son trône, et toute l’armée des cieux se tenant à sa droite et à sa gauche ;
19et l’Éternel dit : Qui persuadera Achab, roi d’Israël, afin qu’il monte et qu’il tombe à Ramoth de Galaad ? Et on parla, celui-ci disant ainsi, et celui-là disant ainsi.
20Et un esprit sortit, et se tint devant l’Éternel, et dit : Moi, je le persuaderai. Et l’Éternel lui dit : Comment ?
21Et il dit : Je sortirai, et je serai un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tous ses prophètes. Et [l’Éternel] dit : Tu le persuaderas, et aussi tu réussiras : sors, et fais ainsi.
22Et maintenant, voici, l’Éternel a mis un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tes prophètes que voilà, et l’Éternel a prononcé du mal à ton sujet.
23Et Sédécias, fils de Kenaana, s’approcha et frappa Michée sur la joue, et dit : Par quel chemin a passé l’Esprit de l’Éternel, d’avec moi, pour te parler ?
24Et Michée dit : Voici, tu le verras ce jour-là, quand tu iras de chambre en chambre pour te cacher.
25Et le roi d’Israël dit : Prenez Michée, et emmenez-le à Amon, chef de la ville, et à Joas, fils du roi ;
26et vous direz : Ainsi dit le roi : Mettez cet [homme] en prison, et donnez-lui à manger le pain d’affliction et l’eau d’affliction, jusqu’à ce que je revienne en paix.
27Et Michée dit : Si jamais tu reviens en paix, l’Éternel n’a point parlé par moi. Et il dit : Peuples, entendez-le tous !
28Et le roi d’Israël monta, et Josaphat, roi de Juda, à Ramoth de Galaad.
29Et le roi d’Israël dit à Josaphat : Je me déguiserai, et j’irai à la bataille ; mais toi, revêts-toi de tes robes. Et le roi d’Israël se déguisa, et ils allèrent à la bataille.
30Et le roi de Syrie commanda aux chefs de ses chars, disant : Ne combattez ni contre petit, ni contre grand, mais contre le roi d’Israël seul.
31Et il arriva que, quand les chefs des chars virent Josaphat, ils dirent : C’est le roi d’Israël. Et ils l’entourèrent pour combattre contre lui. Et Josaphat cria, et l’Éternel le secourut ; et Dieu les porta [à s’éloigner] de lui.
32Et il arriva que, lorsque les chefs des chars virent que ce n’était pas le roi d’Israël, ils s’en revinrent de sa poursuite.
33Et un homme tira de l’arc à l’aventure et frappa le roi d’Israël entre les pièces d’attache et la cuirasse ; et [Achab] dit au conducteur du char : Tourne ta main, et mène-moi hors de l’armée, car je suis blessé.
34Et la bataille se renforça ce jour-là, et le roi d’Israël se soutint sur [son] char, vis-à-vis des Syriens, jusqu’au soir ; et il mourut vers le temps où le soleil se couchait.

1TENÍA pues Josaphat riquezas y gloria en abundancia, y trabó parentesco con Achâb.
2Y después de algunos años descendió á Achâb á Samaria; por lo que mató Achâb muchas ovejas y bueyes para él, y para la gente que con él venía: y persuadióle que fuese con él á Ramoth de Galaad.
3Y dijo Achâb rey de Israel á Josaphat rey de Judá: ¿Quieres venir conmigo á Ramoth de Galaad? Y él respondió: Como yo, así también tú; y como tu pueblo, así también mi pueblo: iremos contigo á la guerra.
4Además dijo Josaphat al rey de Israel: Ruégote que consultes hoy la palabra de Jehová.
5Entonces el rey de Israel juntó cuatrocientos profetas, y díjoles: ¿Iremos á la guerra contra Ramoth de Galaad, ó estaréme yo quieto? Y ellos dijeron: Sube, que Dios los entregará en mano del rey.
6Mas Josaphat dijo: ¿Hay aún aquí algún profeta de Jehová, para que por él preguntemos?
7Y el rey de Israel respondió á Josaphat: Aun hay aquí un hombre por el cual podemos preguntar á Jehová: mas yo le aborrezco, porque nunca me profetiza cosa buena, sino siempre mal. Este es Michêas, hijo de Imla. Y respondió Josaphat: No hable así el rey.
8Entonces el rey de Israel llamó un eunuco, y díjole: Haz venir luego á Michêas hijo de Imla.
9Y el rey de Israel y Josaphat rey de Judá, estaban sentados cada uno en su trono, vestidos de sus ropas; y estaban sentados en la era á la entrada de la puerta de Samaria, y todos los profetas profetizaban delante de ellos.
10Y Sedechîas hijo de Chênaana se había hecho cuernos de hierro, y decía: Así ha dicho Jehová: Con estos acornearás á los Siros hasta destruirlos del todo.
11De esta manera profetizaban también todos los profetas, diciendo: Sube á Ramoth de Galaad, y sé prosperado; porque Jehová la entregará en mano del rey.
12Y el mensajero que había ido á llamar á Michêas, le habló, diciendo: He aquí las palabras de los profetas á una boca anuncian al rey bienes; yo pues te ruego que tu palabra sea como la de uno de ellos, que hables bien.
13Y dijo Michêas: Vive Jehová, que lo que mi Dios me dijere, eso hablaré. Y vino al rey.
14Y el rey le dijo: Michêas, ¿iremos á pelear contra Ramoth de Galaad, ó estaréme yo quieto? Y él respondió: Subid, que seréis prosperados, que serán entregados en vuestras manos.
15Y el rey le dijo: ¿Hasta cuántas veces te conjuraré por el nombre de Jehová que no me hables sino la verdad?
16Entonces él dijo: He visto á todo Israel derramado por los montes como ovejas sin pastor: y dijo Jehová: Estos no tienen señor; vuélvase cada uno en paz á su casa.
17Y el rey de Israel dijo á Josaphat: ¿No te había yo dicho que no me profetizaría bien, sino mal?
18Entonces él dijo: Oid pues palabra de Jehová: Yo he visto á Jehová sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba á su mano derecha y á su izquierda.
19Y Jehová dijo: ¿Quién inducirá á Achâb rey de Israel, para que suba y caiga en Ramoth de Galaad? Y uno decía así, y otro decía de otra manera.
20Mas salió un espíritu, que se puso delante de Jehová, y dijo: Yo le induciré. Y Jehová le dijo: ¿De qué modo?
21Y él dijo: Saldré y seré espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos sus profetas. Y Jehová dijo: Incita, y también prevalece: sal, y hazlo así.
22Y he aquí ahora ha puesto Jehová espíritu de mentira en la boca de estos tus profetas; mas Jehová ha decretado el mal acerca de ti.
23Entonces Sedechîas hijo de Chênaana se llegó á él, é hirió á Michêas en la mejilla, y dijo: ¿Por qué camino se apartó de mí el espíritu de Jehová para hablarte á ti?
24Y Michêas respondió: He aquí tú lo verás aquel día, cuando te entrarás de cámara en cámara para esconderte.
25Entonces el rey de Israel dijo: Tomad á Michêas, y volvedlo á Amón gobernador de la ciudad, y á Joas hijo del rey.
26Y diréis: El rey ha dicho así: Poned á éste en la cárcel, y sustentadle con pan de aflicción y agua de angustia, hasta que yo vuelva en paz.
27Y Michêas dijo: Si tú volvieres en paz, Jehová no ha hablado por mí. Dijo además: Oidlo, pueblos todos.
28Subió pues el rey de Israel, y Josaphat rey de Judá, á Ramoth de Galaad.
29Y dijo el rey de Israel á Josaphat: Yo me disfrazaré para entrar en la batalla: mas tú vístete tus vestidos. Y disfrazóse el rey de Israel, y entró en la batalla.
30Había el rey de Siria mandado á los capitanes de los carros que tenía consigo, diciendo: No peleéis con chico ni con grande, sino sólo con el rey de Israel.
31Y como los capitanes de los carros vieron á Josaphat, dijeron: Este es el rey de Israel. Y cercáronlo para pelear; mas Josaphat clamó, y ayudólo Jehová, y apartólos Dios de él:
32Pues viendo los capitanes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel, desistieron de acosarle.
33Mas disparando uno el arco á la ventura, hirió al rey de Israel entre las junturas y el coselete. El entonces dijo al carretero: Vuelve tu mano, y sácame del campo, porque estoy mal herido.
34Y arreció la batalla aquel día, por lo que estuvo el rey de Israel en pie en el carro enfrente de los Siros hasta la tarde; mas murió á puestas del sol.
King James Version
1Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab.
2And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramoth-gilead.
3And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war.
4And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day.
5Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the king’s hand.
6But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him?
7And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesied good unto me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
8And the king of Israel called for one of his officers, and said, Fetch quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.
9And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah sat either of them on his throne, clothed in their robes, and they sat in a void place at the entering in of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
10And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made him horns of iron, and said, Thus saith the LORD, With these thou shalt push Syria until they be consumed.
11And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper: for the LORD shall deliver it into the hand of the king.
12And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.
13And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, even what my God saith, that will I speak.
14And when he was come to the king, the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And he said, Go ye up, and prosper, and they shall be delivered into your hand.
15And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD?
16Then he said, I did see all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.
17And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would not prophesy good unto me, but evil?
18Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.
19And the LORD said, Who shall entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one spake saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.
20Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will entice him. And the LORD said unto him, Wherewith?
21And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the Lord said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do even so.
22Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.
23Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah upon the cheek, and said, Which way went the Spirit of the LORD from me to speak unto thee?
24And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.
25Then the king of Israel said, Take ye Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;
26And say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.
27And Micaiah said, If thou certainly return in peace, then hath not the LORD spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, all ye people.
28So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.
29And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will go to the battle; but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went to the battle.
30Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that were with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, save only with the king of Israel.
31And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.
32For it came to pass, that, when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back again from pursuing him.
33And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: therefore he said to his chariot man, Turn thine hand, that thou mayest carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.
34And the battle increased that day: howbeit the king of Israel stayed himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the even: and about the time of the sun going down he died.

1Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and he allied himself with Ahab.
2After some years, he went down to Ahab to Samaria. Ahab killed sheep and cattle for him in abundance, and for the people who were with him, and moved him to go up with him to Ramoth Gilead.
3Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me to Ramoth Gilead?” He answered him, “I am as you are, and my people as your people. We will be with you in the war.”
4Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for the LORD’s word.”
5Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” They said, “Go up, for God will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
6But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we may inquire of him?”
7The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla.” Jehoshaphat said, “Don’t let the king say so.”
8Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, “Get Micaiah the son of Imla quickly.”
9Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah each sat on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
10Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made himself horns of iron and said, “The LORD says, ‘With these you shall push the Syrians, until they are consumed.’”
11All the prophets prophesied so, saying, “Go up to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper; for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
12The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. Let your word therefore, please be like one of theirs, and speak good.”
13Micaiah said, “As the LORD lives, I will say what my God says.”
14When he had come to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” He said, “Go up, and prosper. They shall be delivered into your hand.”
15The king said to him, “How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the LORD’s name?”
16He said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. The LORD said, ‘These have no master. Let them each return to his house in peace.’”
17The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Didn’t I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”
18Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the LORD’s word: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.
19The LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ One spoke saying in this way, and another saying in that way.
20A spirit came out, stood before the LORD, and said, ‘I will entice him.’ “The LORD said to him, ‘How?’
21“He said, ‘I will go, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ “He said, ‘You will entice him, and will prevail also. Go and do so.’
22“Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets; and the LORD has spoken evil concerning you.”
23Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the LORD’s Spirit go from me to speak to you?”
24Micaiah said, “Behold, you shall see on that day, when you go into an inner room to hide yourself.”
25The king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;
26and say, ‘The king says, “Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.”’”
27Micaiah said, “If you return at all in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me.” He said, “Listen, you people, all of you!”
28So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.
29The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but you put on your robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into the battle.
30Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, “Don’t fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.”
31When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “It is the king of Israel!” Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.
32When the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.
33A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of the chariot, “Turn around and carry me out of the battle, for I am severely wounded.”
34The battle increased that day. However, the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening; and at about sunset, he died.
