Aconteceu que, depois disso, o povo de Moabe, de Amom e com eles alguns meunitas, vieram contra Josafá para guerrear.

PASADAS estas cosas, aconteció que los hijos de Moab y de Ammón, y con ellos otros de los Ammonitas, vinieron contra Josaphat á la guerra.

It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

Então, alguém veio a Josafá, dizendo: "Uma grande multidão está vindo contra ti de além do mar Morto, de Harã. Vê, eles estão em Hazazom-Tamar", que é En-Gedi.

Y acudieron, y dieron aviso á Josaphat, diciendo: Contra ti viene una grande multitud de la otra parte de la mar, y de la Siria; y he aquí ellos están en Hasasón-tamar, que es Engedi.

Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazon-tamar, which is En-gedi.

Josafá começou a temer, pôs-se a buscar Yahweh e proclamou um jejum em toda Judá.

Judá se reuniu para buscar Yahweh; eles vieram de todas as cidades de Judá.

Josafá permaneceu na congregação de Judá e Jerusalém, na casa de Yahweh, de frente ao novo pátio,

And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court,

And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?

and he said, “LORD, the God of our fathers, aren’t you God in heaven? Aren’t you ruler over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in your hand, so that no one is able to withstand you.

Deus nosso, não lançaste fora os habitantes desta terra diante do povo de Israel, e os deste para sempre aos descendentes de Abraão?

Dios nuestro, ¿no echaste tú los moradores de aquesta tierra delante de tu pueblo Israel, y la diste á la simiente de Abraham tu amigo para siempre?

Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?

Habitaram nela e edificaram lá um santuário para o Teu Nome, dizendo:

Y ellos han habitado en ella, y te han edificado en ella santuario á tu nombre, diciendo:

And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying,

'Se um desastre vier a nós — a espada do Teu julgamento, ou praga, ou fome —, nós nos apresentaremos diante desta Casa, diante de Ti, pois o Teu Nome está nesta Casa, e clamaremos em nossa angústia, e Tu nos ouvirás e nos livrarás'..

Si mal viniere sobre nosotros, ó espada de castigo, ó pestilencia, ó hambre, presentarnos hemos delante de esta casa, y delante de ti, (porque tu nombre está en esta casa,) y de nuestras tribulaciones clamaremos á ti, y tú nos oirás y salvarás.

If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.

‘If evil comes on us—the sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this house, and before you (for your name is in this house), and cry to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.’

Ora, aqui está o povo de Amom, Moabe e monte Seir, os quais não deixaste que Israel os invadisse, quando saíram da terra do Egito; ao invés disso, Israel se afastou deles e não os destruiu.

Vê como eles nos retribuem: estão vindo para expulsar-nos da terra que nos destes por herança.

Behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.

Nosso Deus, não os julgarás? Pois não possuímos poder contra o grande exército que está vindo contra nós. Não sabemos o que fazer, mas nossos olhos estão voltados para Ti".

O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.

Todo povo estava em pé diante de Yahweh, com os seus pequeninos, esposas e crianças.

Então, no meio da congregação, o Espírito de Yahweh veio sobre Jaaziel, filho de Zacarias, filho de Benaia, filho de Matanias, o levita, um dos filhos de Asafe.

Y estaba allí Jahaziel hijo de Zachârías, hijo de Benaías, hijo de Jeiel, hijo de Mathanías, Levita de los hijos de Asaph, sobre el cual vino el espíritu de Jehová en medio de la reunión;

Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;

E Jaaziel lhes disse: "Escutai, todo Judá e todos vós, habitantes de Jerusalém, e o rei Josafá! Isto é o que Yahweh vos diz: 'Não temais, nem vos assusteis por causa desse grande exército; pois a batalha não vos pertence, mas a Deus.

Y dijo: Oid, Judá todo, y vosotros moradores de Jerusalem, y tú, rey Josaphat. Jehová os dice así: No temáis ni os amedrentéis delante de esta tan grande multitud; porque no es vuestra la guerra, sino de Dios.

And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

and he said, “Listen, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat. The LORD says to you, ‘Don’t be afraid, and don’t be dismayed because of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.

Descereis amanhã contra eles. Vede, estão subindo pelo caminho da passagem de Ziz! Vós os encontreis na extremidade do vale, em frente ao deserto de Jeruel.

Mañana descenderéis contra ellos: he aquí que ellos subirán por la cuesta de Sis, y los hallaréis junto al arroyo, antes del desierto de Jeruel.

To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.

Não tereis de lutar nesta batalha. Ficai em vossas posições! Ficai parados, e vede Yahweh vos resgatar — a Judá e a Jerusalém. Não temais nem fiqueis desencorajados. Ide contra eles amanhã, pois Yahweh está convosco'".

No habrá para qué vosotros peleéis en este caso: paraos, estad quedos, y ved la salud de Jehová con vosotros. Oh Judá y Jerusalem, no temáis ni desmayéis; salid mañana contra ellos, que Jehová será con vosotros.

Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

Josafá prostrou sua cabeça e sua face ao chão. Todo Judá e os habitantes de Jerusalém se ajoelharam diante de Yahweh para O adorar.

Entonces Josaphat se inclinó rostro por tierra, y asimismo todo Judá y los moradores de Jerusalem se postraron delante de Jehová, y adoraron á Jehová.

And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD.

Os levitas, dos descendentes dos coatitas e coraítas, se levantaram e adoraram a Yahweh, o Deus de Israel, em alta voz.

And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.

Logo de manhã, eles se levantaram e saíram para o deserto de Tecoa. Quando saíam, Josafá levantou-se e disse: "Escutai-me, Judá e vós, habitantes de Jerusalém! Confiai em Yahweh, vosso Deus, e sereis amparados; confiai em Seus profetas e sereis bem sucedidos."

And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.

Quando ele consultou o povo, designou aqueles que iriam cantar para Yahweh e dar-Lhe graças por Sua santidade e glória, quando saíram à frente do exército, e disse-lhes: "Dai graças a Yahweh, pois Sua fiel aliança dura para sempre".

Y habido consejo con el pueblo, puso á algunos que cantasen á Jehová, y alabasen en la hermosura de la santidad, mientras que salía la gente armada, y dijesen: Glorificad á Jehová, porque su misericordia es para siempre.

And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever.

Y como comenzaron con clamor y con alabanza, puso Jehová contra los hijos de Ammón, de Moab, y del monte de Seir, las emboscadas de ellos mismos que venían contra Judá, y matáronse los unos á los otros:

And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.

pois o povo de Amom e o povo de Moabe se levantaram para lutar contra os habitantes de monte Seir, para que fossem completamente destruídos e mortos. Quando terminaram com os habitantes do monte Seir, todos ajudaram a se destruirem uns aos outros.

Pues los hijos de Ammón y Moab se levantaron contra los del monte de Seir, para matarlos y destruirlos; y como hubieron acabado á los del monte de Seir, cada cual ayudó á la destrucción de su compañero.

Quando Josafá e seu povo vieram saquear os despojos, encontraram entre eles grande abundância de riquezas, roupas e joias preciosas, que tomaram para si, mais do que poderiam carregar. Levou três dias para eles carregarem os despojos, porque eram muitos.

Viniendo entonces Josaphat y su pueblo á despojarlos, hallaron en ellos muchas riquezas entre los cadáveres, así vestidos como preciosos enseres, los cuales tomaron para sí, tantos, que no los podían llevar: tres días duró el despojo, porque era mucho.

And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.

No quarto dia, eles se ajuntaram em uma assembleia no vale de Beraca. Ali adoraram a Yahweh; por isso o nome daquele lugar é vale de Beraca, até os dias de hoje.

Então eles retornaram, todos os homens de Judá e Jerusalém, com Josafá à frente, para ir novamente a Jerusalém com alegria, pois Yahweh lhes fez regozijar sobre seus inimigos.

O temor de Deus veio sobre todos os reinos das nações quando ouviram que Yahweh havia lutado contra os inimigos de Israel.

Então, o reino de Josafá se aquietou pois seu Deus lhe deu paz com todos ao seu redor.

Ele andou nos caminhos de Asa, seu pai; não se desviou deles. Fez o que era bom aos olhos de Yahweh;

Y anduvo en el camino de Asa su padre, sin apartarse de él, haciendo lo recto en los ojos de Jehová.

And he walked in the way of Asa his father, and departed not from it, doing that which was right in the sight of the LORD.

porém, os santuários não foram removidos, nem o povo voltou seus corações ao Deus de seus antepassados.

Então Eliézer, filho de Dodavá, de Maressa, profetizou contra Josafá, dizendo-lhe: "Porque te aliastes com Acazias, Yahweh destruiu todos os teus projetos". Os navios foram despedaçados de forma que não foi possível navegar.
