Pasó, en fin, Josafat a descansar con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David; sucediéndole en el reino su hijo Jo-ram;

Y DURMIÓ Josaphat con sus padres, y sepultáronlo con sus padres en la ciudad de David. Y reinó en su lugar Joram su hijo.

Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.

cuyos hermanos, hijos de Josafat, fueron Azarías, y Jahiel, y Zacarías, y Micael y Safatías; todos hijos de Josafat, rey de Judá.

Este tuvo hermanos, hijos de Josaphat, á Azarías, Jehiel, Zachârías, Azarías, Michâel, y Sephatías. Todos estos fueron hijos de Josaphat rey de Israel.

And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.

Y les dio su padre muchas sumas de oro y de plata, y preciosidades, y ciudades muy bien pertrechadas en Judá; pero el reino se lo entregó a Joram, por ser el primogénito.

Y su padre les había dado muchos dones de oro y de plata, y cosas preciosas, y ciudades fuertes en Judá; mas había dado el reino á Joram, porque él era el primogénito.

And their father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the firstborn.

Tomó, pues, Joram posesión del reino de su padre; y asegurado en su trono, pasó a cuchillo a todos sus hermanos, y a algunos de los principales de Israel.

Fué pues elevado Joram al reino de su padre; y luego que se hizo fuerte, mató á cuchillo á todos sus hermanos, y asimismo algunos de los príncipes de Israel.

Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.

Treinta y dos años tenía Joram cuando comenzó a reinar; y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén .

Y siguió los pasos de los reyes de Israel, como lo había hecho la casa de Acab; pues tenía por mujer a una hija de éste, y así hizo lo malo en la presencia del Señor.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.

Mas el Señor no quiso destruir la casa de David, a causa del pacto hecho con él, y por haberle prometido que le dejaría a él y a sus hijos una lámpara en todo tiempo.

Mas Jehová no quiso destruir la casa de David, á causa de la alianza que con David había hecho, y porque le había dicho que le daría lámpara á él y á sus hijos perpetuamente.

Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.

Por aquellos días se rebeló la Idumea, sacudiendo el yugo de Judá, y se creó rey propio.

En los días de éste se rebeló la Idumea, para no estar bajo el poder de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre sí.

In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.

Y pasando a ella Joram con sus capitanes y con toda la caballería que consigo tenía, salió de noche y derrotó a los idumeos y a todos los capitanes de su caballería, que lo habían cercado.

Entonces pasó Joram con sus príncipes, y consigo todos sus carros; y levantóse de noche, é hirió á los Idumeos que le habían cercado, y á todos los comandantes de sus carros.

Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots.

Con todo eso la Idumea se mantuvo rebelde, sustrayéndose del dominio de Judá, como está hoy día. También en este tiempo se separó la ciudad de Lobna, negándole la obediencia; y por haber Joram abandonado así al Señor Dios de sus padres;

Con todo eso Edom quedó rebelado, sin estar bajo la mano de Judá hasta hoy. También se rebeló en el mismo tiempo Libna para no estar bajo su mano; por cuanto él había dejado á Jehová el Dios de sus padres.

So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.

So Edom has been in revolt from under the hand of Judah to this day. Then Libnah revolted at the same time from under his hand, because he had forsaken the LORD, the God of his fathers.

además de que erigió adoratorios en los lugares altos de las ciudades de Judá, e hizo idolatrar a los habitantes de Jerusalén , y prevaricar a Judá.

Demás de esto hizo altos en los montes de Judá, é hizo que los moradores de Jerusalem fornicasen, y á ello impelió á Judá.

Entonces le entregaron una carta del profeta Elías, en la cual estaba escrito: Esto dice el Señor Dios de tu padre David: Ya que tú no has seguido las pisadas de Josafat, tu padre, ni las pisadas de Asá, rey de Judá,

Y viniéronle letras del profeta Elías, que decían: Jehová, el Dios de David tu padre, ha dicho así: Por cuanto no has andado en los caminos de Josaphat tu padre, ni en los caminos de Asa, rey de Judá,

And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

A letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, “the LORD, the God of David your father, says, ‘Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

sino que has andado por el camino de los reyes de Israel, y has hecho idolatrar a Judá, y a los habitantes de Jerusalén , imitando la impiedad de la casa de Acab, además de haber muerto a tus hermanos, estirpe de tu padre, harto mejores que tú;

Antes has andado en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y has hecho que fornicase Judá, y los moradores de Jerusalem, como fornicó la casa de Achâb; y además has muerto á tus hermanos, á la familia de tu padre, los cuales eran mejores que tú:

But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father’s house, which were better than thyself:

but have walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and have made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to play the prostitute like Ahab’s house did, and also have slain your brothers of your father’s house, who were better than yourself,

he aquí que te castigará el Señor con un terrible azote a ti y a tu pueblo, y a tus hijos y mujeres, y a todas tus cosas.

He aquí Jehová herirá tu pueblo de una grande plaga, y á tus hijos y á tus mujeres, y á toda tu hacienda;

Behold, with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:

behold, the LORD will strike your people with a great plague, including your children, your wives, and all your possessions;

Tú en particular enfermarás de una dolencia de vientre tan maligna, que irás echando las entrañas poco a poco un día tras otro.

Y á ti con muchas enfermedades, con enfermedad de tus entrañas, hasta que las entrañas se te salgan á causa de la enfermedad de cada día.

And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.

and you will have great sickness with a disease of your bowels, until your bowels fall out by reason of the sickness, day by day.’”

Suscitó, pues, el Señor contra Joram el espíritu de los filisteos y de los árabes, confinantes con los etíopes.

Entonces despertó Jehová contra Joram el espíritu de los Filisteos, y de los Arabes que estaban junto á los Etiopes;

Moreover the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:

Y entraron en la tierra de Judá, y la devastaron, y saquearon cuanto había en el palacio del rey, llevándose además sus hijos y mujeres, sin que le quedase otro hijo que Joacaz, el cual era el menor de todos.

Y subieron contra Judá, é invadieron la tierra, y tomaron toda la hacienda que hallaron en la casa del rey, y á sus hijos, y á sus mujeres; que no le quedó hijo, sino Joachâz el menor de sus hijos.

And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king’s house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.

Y además de esto, lo hirió el Señor con una enfermedad incurable de vientre.

De esta suerte, sucediéndose unos a otros los días y estaciones, se pasaron años; hasta que consumido lentamente de la podredumbre, tanto que arrojaba sus mismas entrañas, acabó al tiempo de pensar y de vivir. Muerto que fue de una tan horrible enfermedad, el pueblo no le celebró exequias, quemándole perfumes como a sus antecesores, según costumbre.

Y aconteció que, pasando un día tras otro, al fin, al cabo de dos años, las entrañas se le salieron con la enfermedad, muriendo así de enfermedad muy penosa. Y no le hizo quema su pueblo, como las había hecho á sus padres.

And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.

Treinta y dos años tenía cuando comenzó a reinar, y ocho años reinó en Jerusalén . Su proceder no fue recto. Lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David; mas no en el sepulcro de los reyes.

Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
