Entonces Amasías reunió a todo Judá y los ordenó a sus familias, incluso a todo Judá y Benjamín, bajo capitanes de miles y capitanes de cientos: y él tenía a los de veinte años o más, y vinieron a trescientos mil de los mejores combatientes, entrenados para la guerra y en el uso de la lanza y escudos.

Entonces Amasías dijo al hombre de Dios: ¿Pero qué hacer con respecto a los cien talentos que he dado para la banda armada de Israel? Y el hombre de Dios en respuesta dijo: Dios puede darte mucho más que esto.

Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand?
Therefore the LORD’s anger burned against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet who said to him, “Why have you sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of your hand?”

Y hablándole el profeta estas cosas, él le respondió: ¿Hante puesto á ti por consejero del rey? Déjate de eso: ¿por qué quieres que te maten? Y al cesar, el profeta dijo luego: Yo sé que Dios ha acordado destruirte, porque has hecho esto, y no obedeciste á mi consejo.
And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Art thou made of the king’s counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.
As he talked with him, the king said to him, “Have we made you one of the king’s counselors? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” Then the prophet stopped, and said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”

You say to yourself that you have struck Edom; and your heart lifts you up to boast. Now stay at home. Why should you meddle with trouble, that you should fall, even you and Judah with you?’”
Pero Amasías no le prestó atención; y este era el propósito de Dios, para que él pudiera entregarlos a las manos de Joás, porque habían perseguido a los dioses de Edom.
