Amazias tinha vinte e cinco anos quando começou a reinar. Reinou por vinte e nove anos em Jerusalém. O nome de sua mãe era Jeoadã, de Jerusalém.

DE VEINTICINCO años era Amasías cuando comenzó á reinar, y veintinueve años reinó en Jerusalem: el nombre de su madre fué Joaddan, de Jerusalem.

Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

Ele fez o que era reto aos olhos de Yahweh, mas não com um coração completamente devotado.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.

Aconteceu que, assim que seu governo ficou bem estabelecido, ele matou os servos que haviam assassinado seu pai, o rei.

Y luego que fué confirmado en el reino, mató á sus siervos que habían muerto al rey su padre;

Now it came to pass, when the kingdom was established to him, that he slew his servants that had killed the king his father.

Porém ele não matou os filhos dos assassinos, mas agiu de acordo com o que está escrito na Lei, no Livro de Moisés, assim como Yahweh ordenou: "Os pais não devem morrer pelos filhos, nem os filhos pelos pais. Em vez disso, cada pessoa deverá morrer pelo seu próprio pecado".

But he slew not their children, but did as it is written in the law in the book of Moses, where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers, but every man shall die for his own sin.

But he didn’t put their children to death, but did according to that which is written in the law in the book of Moses, as the LORD commanded, saying, “The fathers shall not die for the children, neither shall the children die for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.”

Além do mais, Amazias reuniu Judá e registrou-o conforme os seus clãs familiares, sob os comandantes de mil e comandantes de cem, todos de Judá e Benjamim. Ele contou os que tinham de vinte anos para cima e encontrou trezentos mil homens aptos para irem à guerra e manejar lança e escudo.

Juntó luego Amasías á Judá, y con arreglo á las familias púsoles tribunos y centuriones por todo Judá y Benjamín; y tomólos por lista de veinte años arriba, y fueron hallados en ellos trescientos mil escogidos para salir á la guerra, que tenían lanza y escudo.

Moreover Amaziah gathered Judah together, and made them captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, according to the houses of their fathers, throughout all Judah and Benjamin: and he numbered them from twenty years old and above, and found them three hundred thousand choice men, able to go forth to war, that could handle spear and shield.

Também contratou cem mil guerreiros de Israel por cem talentos de prata.

Y de Israel tomó á sueldo cien mil hombres valientes, por cien talentos de plata.

He hired also an hundred thousand mighty men of valour out of Israel for an hundred talents of silver.

Mas um homem de Deus veio a ele, dizendo: "Rei, não deixes o exército de Israel ir contigo, pois Yahweh não está com Israel, isto é, com nenhum dos filhos de Efraim.

Mas un varón de Dios vino á él, diciéndole: Rey, no vaya contigo el ejército de Israel; porque Jehová no es con Israel, ni con todos los hijos de Ephraim.

But there came a man of God to him, saying, O king, let not the army of Israel go with thee; for the LORD is not with Israel, to wit, with all the children of Ephraim.

A man of God came to him, saying, “O king, don’t let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel, with all the children of Ephraim.

Mas, mesmo que tu vás e sejas forte e corajoso na batalha, Deus te fará cair diante do inimigo, pois Deus tem poder para ajudar e poder para derrubar".

Pero si tú vas, si lo haces, y te esfuerzas para pelear, Dios te hará caer delante de los enemigos; porque en Dios está la fortaleza, ó para ayudar, ó para derribar.

But if thou wilt go, do it, be strong for the battle: God shall make thee fall before the enemy: for God hath power to help, and to cast down.

But if you will go, take action, and be strong for the battle. God will overthrow you before the enemy; for God has power to help, and to overthrow.”

Disse Amazias ao homem de Deus: "Mas o que faremos acerca dos cem talentos que eu havia entregue ao exército de Israel?". O homem de Deus respondeu: "Yahweh pode te dar muito mais do que isso".

Y Amasías dijo al varón de Dios: ¿Qué pues se hará de cien talentos que he dado al ejército de Israel? Y el varón de Dios respondió: De Jehová es darte mucho más que esto.

And Amaziah said to the man of God, But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel? And the man of God answered, The LORD is able to give thee much more than this.

Amaziah said to the man of God, “But what shall we do for the hundred talents which I have given to the army of Israel?” The man of God answered, “The LORD is able to give you much more than this.”

Então, Amazias separou o exército que tinha vindo de Efraim até ele e mandou-os para casa. Então, acendeu-se neles grande ira contra Judá e voltaram com grande fúria para sua terra.

Entonces Amasías apartó el escuadrón de la gente que había venido á él de Ephraim, para que se fuesen á sus casas: y ellos se enojaron grandemente contra Judá, y volviéronse á sus casas encolerizados.

Then Amaziah separated them, to wit, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger.

Amazias criou coragem e conduziu seu povo para ir ao Vale do Sal; lá ele derrotou dez mil homens de Seir.

Esforzándose entonces Amasías, sacó su pueblo, y vino al valle de la Sal: é hirió de los hijos de Seir diez mil.

And Amaziah strengthened himself, and led forth his people, and went to the valley of salt, and smote of the children of Seir ten thousand.

Amaziah took courage, and led his people out and went to the Valley of Salt, and struck ten thousand of the children of Seir.

O exército de Judá capturou vivos outros dez mil. Eles os levaram à beira do abismo e os jogaram de lá, para que todos fossem quebrados aos pedaços.

Y los hijos de Judá tomaron vivos otros diez mil, los cuales llevaron á la cumbre de un peñasco, y de allí los despeñaron, y todos se hicieron pedazos.

And other ten thousand left alive did the children of Judah carry away captive, and brought them unto the top of the rock, and cast them down from the top of the rock, that they all were broken in pieces.

Mas os homens do exército que Amazias tinha mandado de volta, para que não fossem com ele para a batalha, atacaram as cidades de Judá, desde Samaria até Bete-Horom. Eles feriram três mil pessoas e levaram muitos despojos.

Empero los del escuadrón que Amasías había despedido, porque no fuesen con él á la guerra, derramáronse sobre las ciudades de Judá, desde Samaria hasta Beth-oron, é hirieron de ellos tres mil, y tomaron un grande despojo.

But the soldiers of the army which Amaziah sent back, that they should not go with him to battle, fell upon the cities of Judah, from Samaria even unto Beth-horon, and smote three thousand of them, and took much spoil.

E aconteceu que, depois que Amazias voltou da matança dos edomitas, trouxe consigo os deuses do povo de Seir e os colocou como seus próprios deuses. Curvou-se diante deles e queimou-lhes.

Regresando luego Amasías de la matanza de los Idumeos, trajo también consigo los dioses de los hijos de Seir, y púsoselos para sí por dioses, y encorvóse delante de ellos, y quemóles perfumes.

Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them.

Então, a ira de Yahweh veio contra Amazias. Enviou-lhe um profeta que disse: "Por que buscaste os deuses que não salvaram nem mesmo o seu próprio povo de tuas mãos?".

Encendióse por tanto el furor de Jehová contra Amasías, y envió á él un profeta, que le dijo: ¿Por qué has buscado los dioses de gente, que no libraron á su pueblo de tus manos?

Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand?

Therefore the LORD’s anger burned against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet who said to him, “Why have you sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of your hand?”

E aconteceu que, enquanto o profeta estava falando para ele, o rei lhe disse: "Nós te constituímos conselheiro do rei? Para! Por que tu deverias morrer?". Então o profeta parou e disse: "Sei que Deus decidiu te destruir, porque fizeste isso e não ouviste o meu conselho".

Y hablándole el profeta estas cosas, él le respondió: ¿Hante puesto á ti por consejero del rey? Déjate de eso: ¿por qué quieres que te maten? Y al cesar, el profeta dijo luego: Yo sé que Dios ha acordado destruirte, porque has hecho esto, y no obedeciste á mi consejo.

And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the king said unto him, Art thou made of the king’s counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel.

As he talked with him, the king said to him, “Have we made you one of the king’s counselors? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” Then the prophet stopped, and said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”

Então Amazias, rei de Judá, consultou seus conselheiros e mandou mensageiros a Jeoás, filho de Jeoacaz, filho de Jeú, rei de Israel, dizendo: "Encontremos um ao outro, face a face, em batalha".

Y Amasías rey de Judá, habido su consejo, envió á decir á Joas, hijo de Joachâz hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel: Ven, y veámonos cara á cara.

Then Amaziah king of Judah took advice, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us see one another in the face.

Then Amaziah king of Judah consulted his advisers, and sent to Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come! Let’s look one another in the face.”

Mas Jeoás, rei de Israel, enviou mensageiros de volta a Amazias, rei de Judá, dizendo: "O espinheiro que estava no Líbano mandou mensagem ao cedro no Líbano, dizendo: 'Dá tua filha a meu filho como esposa', mas uma fera selvagem no Líbano passou e pisoteou o espinheiro.

Entonces Joas rey de Israel envió á decir á Amasías rey de Judá: El cardo que estaba en el Líbano, envió al cedro que estaba en el Líbano, diciendo: Da tu hija á mi hijo por mujer. Y he aquí que las bestias fieras que estaban en el Líbano, pasaron, y hollaron el cardo.

And Joash king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.

Tu tens dito: 'Vede, eu destruí Edom', e teu coração te elevou para teres orgulho de tua vitória. Mas fica em casa, por que deverias causar problemas a ti mesmo e caírem juntos tanto tu quanto Judá?".

Tú dices: He aquí he herido á Edom; y tu corazón se enaltece para gloriarte: ahora estáte en tu casa; ¿para qué te entrometes en mal, para caer tú y Judá contigo?

Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten the Edomites; and thine heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

You say to yourself that you have struck Edom; and your heart lifts you up to boast. Now stay at home. Why should you meddle with trouble, that you should fall, even you and Judah with you?’”

Mas Amazias não deu ouvidos, pois isso vinha de Deus, assim Ele entregaria o povo de Judá nas mãos dos seus inimigos, pois procuraram conselhos entre os deuses de Edom.

Mas Amasías no quiso oir; porque estaba de Dios, que los quería entregar en manos de sus enemigos, por cuanto habían buscado los dioses de Edom.

But Amaziah would not hear; for it came of God, that he might deliver them into the hand of their enemies, because they sought after the gods of Edom.

Então, Jeoás, rei de Israel, atacou; ele e Amazias, rei de Judá, encontraram-se frente a frente, em Bete-Semes, que pertence a Judá.

Subió pues Joas rey de Israel, y viéronse cara á cara él y Amasías rey de Judá, en Beth-semes, la cual es de Judá.

So Joash the king of Israel went up; and they saw one another in the face, both he and Amaziah king of Judah, at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.

Judá foi destruído diante de Israel, e todos os homens fugiram para casa.

Pero cayó Judá delante de Israel, y huyó cada uno á su estancia.

And Judah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fled every man to his tent.

Jeoás, rei de Israel, capturou Amazias, filho de Joás, neto de Jeoacaz, rei de Judá, em Bete-Semes. Ele o trouxe a Jerusalém e derrubou os muros de Jerusalém, desde o portão de Efraim até o portão da esquina, quatrocentos côvados de distância.

Y Joas rey de Israel prendió en Beth-semes á Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joas hijo de Joachâz, y llevólo á Jerusalem: y derribó el muro de Jerusalem desde la puerta de Ephraim hasta la puerta del ángulo, cuatrocientos codos.

And Joash the king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Jehoahaz, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

Ele tomou todo o ouro e prata, todos os objetos que foram encontrados na casa de Deus com Obede-Edom e as coisas valiosas da casa do rei, também fez reféns e voltou para Samaria.

And he took all the gold and the silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obed-edom, and the treasures of the king’s house, the hostages also, and returned to Samaria.

Sobre os outros acontecimentos de Amazias, dos primeiros aos últimos, eis que não foram escritos no livro dos reis de Judá e Israel?

Assim, desde o tempo em que Amazias deixou de seguir Yahweh, começaram a conspirar contra ele em Jerusalém. Ele fugiu para Laquis, mas enviaram homens atrás dele em Laquis e lá o mataram.

Desde aquel tiempo que Amasías se apartó de Jehová, maquinaron contra él conjuración en Jerusalem; y habiendo él huído á Lachîs, enviaron tras él á Lachîs, y allá lo mataron;

Trouxeram-no de volta em cavalos e o enterraram junto com seus ancestrais na cidade de Judá.
