So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?

Und er ward getrost und bauete alle Mauern, wo sie luckicht waren, und machte Turme drauf; und bauete draußen noch eine andere Mauer und befestigte Millo an der Stadt Davids; und machte viel Waffen und Schilde.

Mit ihm ist ein fleischlicher Arm; mit uns aber ist der HERR, unser Gott, daß er uns helfe und fuhre unsern Streit. Und das Volk verlieü sich auf die Worte Hiskias, des Konigs Judas.

Ist er nicht der Hiskia, der seine Hohen und Altare weggetan hat und gesagt zu Juda und Jerusalem: Vor einem Altar sollt ihr anbeten und drauf rauchern?

Wer ist unter alien Gottern dieser Heiden, die meine Vater verbannet haben, der sein Volk habe mogen erretten von meiner Hand, daß euer Gott euch sollte mogen erretten aus meiner Hand?
¿Qué dios hubo de todos los dioses de aquellas gentes que destruyeron mis padres, que pudiese salvar su pueblo de mis manos? ¿Por qué podrá vuestro Dios libraros de mi mano?

So lafit euch nun Hiskia nicht aufsetzen und laßt euch solches nicht bereden und glaubet ihm nicht. Denn so kein Gott aller Heiden und Konigreiche hat sein Volk mogen von meiner und meiner Vater Hand erretten, so werden auch euch eure Gotter nicht erretten von meiner Hand.

Dazu redeten seine Knechte noch mehr wider den HERRN, den Gott, und wider seinen Knecht Hiskia.

He wrote also letters to rail on the LORD God of Israel, and to speak against him, saying, As the gods of the nations of other lands have not delivered their people out of mine hand, so shall not the God of Hezekiah deliver his people out of mine hand.

Und sie riefen mit lauter Stimme auf judisch zum Volk zu Jerusalem, das auf der Mauer war, sie furchtsam zu machen und zu erschrecken, dafi sie die Stadt gewonnen;
