1Manasés tenía doce años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó cincuenta y cinco años en Jerusalén.
2Pero él hizo lo malo a los ojos de Yahvé, siguiendo las horribles costumbres de las naciones que Yahvé había expulsado del territorio de los israelitas.
3Volvió a reconstruir los santuarios paganos que su padre Ezequías había destruido. Levantó altares para adorar a los baales, hizo imágenes de la diosa Asera, y adoró a todos los astros del cielo y les rindió culto.
4Incluso construyó altares paganos dentro del templo de Yahvé, el mismo lugar del que Yahvé había dicho: “Mi nombre estará en Jerusalén para siempre”.
5En los dos patios del templo de Yahvé, Manasés construyó altares para adorar a los astros del cielo.
6Hasta sacrificó a sus propios hijos quemándolos en el fuego en el valle de Ben Hinom. Practicó la magia, la adivinación y la brujería, y consultó a médiums y espiritistas. Hizo tantas cosas malas a los ojos de Yahvé, que provocó su enojo.
7Además, mandó hacer una imagen tallada de un ídolo y la puso dentro del templo de Dios, el mismo lugar del que Dios les había dicho a David y a su hijo Salomón: “En este templo y en Jerusalén, la ciudad que he elegido de entre todas las tribus de Israel, pondré mi nombre para siempre.
8Y nunca más volveré a expulsar a los israelitas de la tierra que les di a sus antepasados, siempre y cuando obedezcan todo lo que les he mandado, es decir, toda la ley, las normas y los decretos que les di por medio de Moisés”.
9Pero Manasés desvió a la gente de Judá y de Jerusalén, y los hizo cometer peores pecados que las naciones paganas que Yahvé había destruido para darles la tierra a los israelitas.
10Yahvé les habló a Manasés y a su pueblo, pero ellos no le hicieron caso.
11Por eso, Yahvé hizo que el ejército del rey de Asiria los atacara. Los comandantes asirios capturaron a Manasés, le pusieron garfios, lo amarraron con cadenas de bronce y se lo llevaron prisionero a Babilonia.
12Estando allí, en medio de su gran sufrimiento, Manasés le rogó a Yahvé su Dios y se humilló profundamente ante el Dios de sus antepasados.
13Y cuando oró, Dios se conmovió, escuchó su súplica y lo hizo regresar a Jerusalén para que volviera a reinar. Entonces Manasés reconoció que Yahvé es el verdadero Dios.
14Después de esto, Manasés reconstruyó la muralla exterior de la Ciudad de David. La muralla iba por el valle, al oeste del manantial de Gihón, hasta la entrada de la puerta del Pescado, y rodeaba la colina de Ofel. Manasés la hizo mucho más alta y puso comandantes militares en todas las ciudades fortificadas de Judá.
15También quitó del templo de Yahvé los dioses extranjeros y el ídolo que había puesto allí, destruyó todos los altares paganos que había construido en el monte del templo y en Jerusalén, y los tiró fuera de la ciudad.
16Luego reparó el altar de Yahvé y ofreció sobre él sacrificios de paz y ofrendas de agradecimiento, y le ordenó a Judá que sirviera a Yahvé, el Dios de Israel.
17A pesar de esto, el pueblo seguía ofreciendo sacrificios en los santuarios de las colinas, aunque solo se los ofrecían a Yahvé su Dios.
18El resto de la historia de Manasés, incluyendo la oración que le hizo a Dios y los mensajes que los videntes le dieron en el nombre de Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, está escrito en los registros de los reyes de Israel.
19Su oración, y cómo Dios lo escuchó; todos los pecados que cometió cuando le fue infiel a Dios; y los lugares donde construyó santuarios paganos y puso imágenes de Asera y otros ídolos antes de arrepentirse, todo eso está escrito en los registros de los videntes.
20Cuando Manasés murió, lo enterraron en el jardín de su propio palacio, y su hijo Amón reinó en su lugar.
21Amón tenía veintidós años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén durante dos años.
22Amón hizo lo malo a los ojos de Yahvé, igual que su padre Manasés. Adoró y les ofreció sacrificios a todos los ídolos que su padre había mandado hacer.
23Pero a diferencia de su padre Manasés, Amón nunca se humilló ante Yahvé, sino que pecó cada vez más.
24Finalmente, sus propios funcionarios hicieron un complot contra él y lo asesinaron en su palacio.
25Pero el pueblo de Judá mató a todos los que habían conspirado contra el rey Amón, y luego pusieron como rey a su hijo Josías.

1DE DOCE años era Manasés cuando comenzó á reinar, y cincuenta y cinco años reinó en Jerusalem.
2Mas hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová, conforme á las abominaciones de las gentes que había echado Jehová delante de los hijos de Israel:
3Porque él reedificó los altos que Ezechîas su padre había derribado, y levantó altares á los Baales, é hizo bosques, y adoró á todo el ejército de los cielos, y á él sirvió.
4Edificó también altares en la casa de Jehová, de la cual había dicho Jehová: En Jerusalem será mi nombre perpetuamente.
5Edificó asimismo altares á todo el ejército de los cielos en los dos atrios de la casa de Jehová.
6Y pasó sus hijos por fuego en el valle de los hijos de Hinnom; y miraba en los tiempos, miraba en agüeros, era dado á adivinaciones, y consultaba pythones y encantadores: subió de punto en hacer lo malo en ojos de Jehová, para irritarle.
7A más de esto puso una imagen de fundición, que hizo, en la casa de Dios, de la cual había dicho Dios á David y á Salomón su hijo: En esta casa y en Jerusalem, la cual yo elegí sobre todas las tribus de Israel, pondré mi nombre para siempre:
8Y nunca más quitaré el pie de Israel de la tierra que yo entregué á vuestros padres, á condición que guarden y hagan todas las cosas que yo les he mandado, toda la ley, estatutos, y ordenanzas, por mano de Moisés.
9Hizo pues Manasés desviarse á Judá y á los moradores de Jerusalem, para hacer más mal que las gentes que Jehová destruyó delante de los hijos de Israel.
10Y habló Jehová á Manasés y á su pueblo, mas ellos no escucharon: por lo cual Jehová trajo contra ellos los generales del ejército del rey de los Asirios, los cuales aprisionaron con grillos á Manasés, y atado con cadenas lleváronlo á Babilonia.
11Mas luego que fué puesto en angustias, oró ante Jehová su Dios, humillado grandemente en la presencia del Dios de sus padres.
12Y habiendo á él orado, fué atendido; pues que oyó su oración, y volviólo á Jerusalem, á su reino. Entonces conoció Manasés que Jehová era Dios.
13Después de esto edificó el muro de afuera de la ciudad de David, al occidente de Gihón, en el valle, á la entrada de la puerta del pescado, y cercó á Ophel, y alzólo muy alto; y puso capitanes de ejército en todas las ciudades fuertes por Judá.
14Asimismo quitó los dioses ajenos, y el ídolo de la casa de Jehová, y todos los altares que había edificado en el monte de la casa de Jehová y en Jerusalem, y echólos fuera de la ciudad.
15Reparó luego el altar de Jehová, y sacrificó sobre él sacrificios pacíficos y de alabanza; y mandó á Judá que sirviesen á Jehová Dios de Israel.
16Empero el pueblo aun sacrificaba en los altos, bien que á Jehová su Dios.
17Lo demás de los hechos de Manasés, y su oración á su Dios, y las palabras de los videntes que le hablaron en nombre de Jehová el Dios de Israel, he aquí todo está escrito en los hechos de los reyes de Israel.
18Su oración también, y cómo fué oído, todos sus pecados, y su prevaricación, los lugares donde edificó altos y había puesto bosques é ídolos antes que se humillase, he aquí estas cosas están escritas en las palabras de los videntes.
19Y durmió Manasés con sus padres, y sepultáronlo en su casa: y reinó en su lugar Amón su hijo.
20De veinte y dos años era Amón cuando comenzó á reinar, y dos años reinó en Jerusalem.
21E hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová, como había hecho Manasés su padre: porque á todos los ídolos que su padre Manasés había hecho, sacrificó y sirvió Amón.
22Mas nunca se humilló delante de Jehová, como se humilló Manasés su padre: antes aumentó el pecado.
23Y conspiraron contra él sus siervos, y matáronlo en su casa.
24Mas el pueblo de la tierra hirió á todos los que habían conspirado contra el rey Amón; y el pueblo de la tierra puso por rey en su lugar á Josías su hijo.

1Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem:
2But did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.
3For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared up altars for Baalim, and made groves, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.
4Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.
5And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.
6And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
7And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:
8Neither will I any more remove the foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.
9So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, and to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel.
10And the LORD spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken.
11Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon.
12And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,
13And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God.
14Now after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entering in at the fish gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in all the fenced cities of Judah.
15And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of the LORD, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the LORD, and in Jerusalem, and cast them out of the city.
16And he repaired the altar of the LORD, and sacrificed thereon peace offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel.
17Nevertheless the people did sacrifice still in the high places, yet unto the LORD their God only.
18Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of the LORD God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel.
19His prayer also, and how God was intreated of him, and all his sin, and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they are written among the sayings of the seers.
20So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.
21Amon was two and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned two years in Jerusalem.
22But he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them;
23And humbled not himself before the LORD, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more.
24And his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house.
25But the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.

16He built up the LORD’s altar, and offered sacrifices of peace offerings and of thanksgiving on it, and commanded Judah to serve the LORD, the God of Israel.
17Nevertheless the people still sacrificed in the high places, but only to the LORD their God.
