Después de servir al pueblo, los levitas prepararon su propia porción y la de los sacerdotes. Tuvieron que hacerlo así porque los sacerdotes, descendientes de Aarón, estuvieron ocupados hasta la noche ofreciendo los holocaustos y la grasa de los animales.
