Lo sacaron de su carro de combate y lo pusieron en otro carro, y lo llevaron a Jerusalén, donde murió. Fue sepultado allí, en el cementerio real. Y toda la gente de Judá y de Jerusalén lo lloró. Hasta el profeta Jeremías le compuso un canto fúnebre. Aún hoy día se cantan tristes canciones en las que se menciona la muerte del rey Josías. Esas canciones forman parte del Libro de los Lamentos.
Entonces sus siervos lo quitaron de aquel carro, y pusiéronle en otro segundo carro que tenía, y lleváronle á Jerusalem, y murió; y sepultáronle en los sepulcros de sus padres. Y todo Judá y Jerusalem hizo duelo por Josías.
