And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.

El rey y todo el pueblo procedieron a consagrar el templo mediante el sacrificio de veintidós mil bueyes y ciento veinte mil ovejas, que fueron entregados por el rey Salomón.

And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.

Salomón consagró también el atrio interior del templo, para que en esta ocasión se usara como lugar de sacrificio, porque en el altar de bronce no cabían tantos animales sacrificados.
También santificó Salomón el medio del atrio que estaba delante de la casa de Jehová, por cuanto había ofrecido allí los holocaustos, y los sebos de los pacíficos; porque en el altar de bronce que Salomón había hecho, no podían caber los holocaustos, y el presente, y los sebos.

De esta manera dio término Salomón a la construcción del templo del Señor, así como a la de su propio palacio. Y logró realizar todo lo que se había propuesto hacer.
Acabó pues Salomón la casa de Jehová, y la casa del rey: y todo lo que Salomón tuvo en voluntad de hacer en la casa de Jehová y en su casa, fué prosperado.

Una noche el Señor se presentó a Salomón y le dijo: «He oído tus oraciones, y he escogido este templo como el lugar en que quiero que se me ofrezcan los sacrificios.
Y apareció Jehová á Salomón de noche, y díjole: Yo he oído tu oración, y he elegido para mí este lugar por casa de sacrificio.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Por cuanto he escogido este templo y lo he santificado para habitar en él para siempre; mis ojos y mi corazón estarán siempre aquí.
Pues que ahora he elegido y santificado esta casa, para que esté en ella mi nombre para siempre; y mis ojos y mi corazón estarán ahí para siempre.
For now have I chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

»En lo que se refiere a ti, si me sigues como lo hizo tu padre David,

haré que tú y tus descendientes reinen siempre en Israel, tal como se lo prometí a David.

»Pero si no me siguen, si rechazan las leyes que les he dado, y adoran ídolos,

los echaré de esta tierra que les he dado, y este templo será destruido, aun cuando lo he santificado para mí; lo transformaré en horror y desgracia.
Yo los arrancaré de mi tierra que les he dado; y esta casa que he santificado á mi nombre, yo la echaré de delante de mí, y pondréla por proverbio y fábula en todos los pueblos.
Then will I pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations.

Aunque sea un templo famoso, llegará el día en que todo aquel que pase por aquí exclamará atónito: “¿Por qué el Señor habrá hecho algo tan terrible a esta tierra y a este templo?”.
Y esta casa que habrá sido ilustre, será espanto á todo el que pasare, y dirá: ¿Por qué ha hecho así Jehová á esta tierra y á esta casa?
And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house?
This house, which is so high, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say, ‘Why has the LORD done this to this land and to this house?’
Y la respuesta será: “Porque su pueblo abandonó al Señor, Dios de sus padres, el Dios que los sacó de la tierra de Egipto, y en su lugar adoraron a otros dioses. Ese es el motivo por el cual Dios ha procedido de esta manera”».
Y se responderá: Por cuanto dejaron á Jehová Dios de sus padres, el cual los sacó de la tierra de Egipto, y han abrazado dioses ajenos, y los adoraron y sirvieron: por eso él ha traído todo este mal sobre ellos.
And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.
They shall answer, ‘Because they abandoned the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and took other gods, worshiped them, and served them. Therefore he has brought all this evil on them.’”
