OJALÁ toleraseis un poco mi locura; empero toleradme.

ya que soy amante celoso de vosotros y celoso en nombre de Dios. Pues que os tengo desposados con este único esposo, que es Cristo , para presentaros a él como una pura y casta virgen.
Pues que os celo con celo de Dios; porque os he desposado á un marido, para presentaros como una virgen pura á Cristo.
For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Mas temo que así como la serpiente engañó a Eva con su astucia, así sean maleados vuestros espíritus, y degeneren de la sencillez propia del discípulo de Cristo .

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
But I am afraid that somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve in his craftiness, so your minds might be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
En efecto, si el que va a predicaros, os anunciase otro Cristo que el que os hemos predicado; u os hiciese recibir otro espíritu más perfecto que el que habéis recibido; u otra buena nueva mejor que el que habéis abrazado, pudierais con razón sufrirlo, y seguirle;
Porque si el que viene, predicare otro Jesús que el que hemos predicado, ó recibiereis otro espíritu del que habéis recibido, ú otro evangelio del que habéis aceptado, lo sufrierais bien.
For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we didn’t preach, or if you receive a different spirit which you didn’t receive, or a different “good news” which you didn’t accept, you put up with that well enough.
mas yo nada pienso haber hecho menos que los más grandes apóstoles.
Cierto pienso que en nada he sido inferior á aquellos grandes apóstoles.
For I suppose I was not a whit behind the very chiefest apostles.
For I reckon that I am not at all behind the very best apostles.
Porque dado que yo sea tosco en el hablar, no lo soy ciertamente en la ciencia de Cristo ; en fin, vosotros nos tenéis bien conocidos en todo.
Porque aunque soy basto en la palabra, empero no en la ciencia: mas en todo somos ya del todo manifiestos á vosotros.
But though I be rude in speech, yet not in knowledge; but we have been throughly made manifest among you in all things.
But though I am unskilled in speech, yet I am not unskilled in knowledge. No, in every way we have been revealed to you in all things.
¿Acaso habré cometido una falta cuando, por ensalzaros a vosotros, me he humillado yo mismo, predicándoos gratuitamente la buena nueva de Dios?
¿Pequé yo humillándome á mí mismo, para que vosotros fueseis ensalzados, porque os he predicado el evangelio de Dios de balde?
Have I committed an offence in abasing myself that ye might be exalted, because I have preached to you the gospel of God freely?
Or did I commit a sin in humbling myself that you might be exalted, because I preached to you God’s Good News free of charge?
He despojado, por decirlo así, a otras iglesias, recibiendo de ellas las asistencias de que necesitaba para serviros a vosotros.
He despojado las otras iglesias, recibiendo salario para ministraros á vosotros.
I robbed other churches, taking wages of them, to do you service.
I robbed other assemblies, taking wages from them that I might serve you.
Y estando yo en vuestra patria, y necesitado, a nadie no obstante fui gravoso, proveyéndome de lo que me faltaba los hermanos venidos de Macedonia; y en todas ocasiones me guardé de serviros de carga, y me guardaré en adelante.
Y estando con vosotros y teniendo necesidad, á ninguno fuí carga; porque lo que me faltaba, suplieron los hermanos que vinieron de Macedonia: y en todo me guardé de seros gravoso, y me guardaré.
And when I was present with you, and wanted, I was chargeable to no man: for that which was lacking to me the brethren which came from Macedonia supplied: and in all things I have kept myself from being burdensome unto you, and so will I keep myself.
When I was present with you and was in need, I wasn’t a burden on anyone, for the brothers, when they came from Macedonia, supplied the measure of my need. In everything I kept myself from being burdensome to you, and I will continue to do so.
Os aseguro por la verdad de Cristo que está en mí, que no tendrá mengua en mí esta gloria en las regiones de Acaya.
Es la verdad de Cristo en mí, que esta gloria no me será cerrada en las partes de Acaya.
As the truth of Christ is in me, no man shall stop me of this boasting in the regions of Achaia.
As the truth of Christ is in me, no one will stop me from this boasting in the regions of Achaia.
¿Y por qué? ¿Será porque no os amo? Dios lo sabe, y ve mi intenso amor.
¿Por qué? ¿porque no os amo? Dios lo sabe.
Wherefore? because I love you not? God knoweth.
Why? Because I don’t love you? God knows.
Pero yo hago esto, y lo haré todavía, a fin de cortar enteramente una ocasión de gloriarse a aquellos que la buscan con hacer alarde de parecer en todo semejantes a nosotros, para encontrar en esto un motivo de gloriarse.
Mas lo que hago, haré aún, para cortar la ocasión de aquellos que la desean, á fin de que en aquello que se glorían, sean hallados semejantes á nosotros.
But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.
But what I do, that I will continue to do, that I may cut off opportunity from those who desire an opportunity, that in which they boast, they may be recognized just like us.
Pues los tales falsos apóstoles son operarios engañosos, e hipócritas, que se disfrazan de apóstoles de Cristo .
Porque éstos son falsos apóstoles, obreros fraudulentos, transfigurándose en apóstoles de Cristo.
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as Christ’s apostles.
Y no es de extrañar, pues el mismo Satanás se transforma en ángel de luz.
Y no es maravilla, porque el mismo Satanás se transfigura en ángel de luz.
And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
And no wonder, for even Satan masquerades as an angel of light.
Así no es mucho que sus ministros se transfiguren en ministros de justicia o de santidad; mas su paradero será conforme a sus obras.
Así que, no es mucho si también sus ministros se transfiguran como ministros de justicia; cuyo fin será conforme á sus obras.
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
It is no great thing therefore if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.
Vuelvo a repetir, (no me tenga ninguno por imprudente, o al menos sufridme como si lo fuese, y permitidme que me alabe todavía algún tanto)
Otra vez digo: Que nadie me estime ser loco; de otra manera, recibidme como á loco, para que aun me gloríe yo un poquito.
I say again, Let no man think me a fool; if otherwise, yet as a fool receive me, that I may boast myself a little.
I say again, let no one think me foolish. But if so, yet receive me as foolish, that I also may boast a little.
lo que voy a decir para tomar de ello motivo de gloriarme, creed, si queréis, que yo no lo digo según Dios, sino que es una especie de imprudencia o jactancia mía;
Lo que hablo, no lo hablo según el Señor, sino como en locura, con esta confianza de gloria.
That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.
That which I speak, I don’t speak according to the Lord, but as in foolishness, in this confidence of boasting.
mas ya que muchos se glorían según la carne, dejad, que yo también me gloriaré,
Pues que muchos se glorían según la carne, también yo me gloriaré.
Seeing that many glory after the flesh, I will glory also.
Seeing that many boast after the flesh, I will also boast.
puesto que siendo como sois prudentes, aguantáis sin pena a los imprudentes.
Porque de buena gana toleráis los necios, siendo vosotros sabios:
For ye suffer fools gladly, seeing ye yourselves are wise.
For you bear with the foolish gladly, being wise.
Porque vosotros aguantáis a quien os reduce a esclavitud, a quien os devora, a quien toma vuestros bienes estafándoos, a quien os trata con altanería, a quien os hiere en el rostro, o llena de injurias.
Porque toleráis si alguno os pone en servidumbre, si alguno os devora, si alguno toma, si alguno se ensalza, si alguno os hiere en la cara.
For ye suffer, if a man bring you into bondage, if a man devour you, if a man take of you, if a man exalt himself, if a man smite you on the face.
For you bear with a man if he brings you into bondage, if he devours you, if he takes you captive, if he exalts himself, or if he strikes you on the face.
Digo esto con confusión mía, pues en este punto pasamos por sobrado débiles, o moderados. Pero en cualquiera otra cosa de que alguno presumiere y se vanagloriare (os parecerá que hablo sin cordura) no menos presumo yo:
Dígolo cuanto á la afrenta, como si nosotros hubiésemos sido flacos. Empero en lo que otro tuviere osadía (hablo con locura), también yo tengo osadía.
I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.
To my shame, I speak as though we had been weak. Yet in whatever way anyone is bold (I speak in foolishness), I am bold also.
¿Son hebreos?, yo también lo soy. ¿Son israelitas?, también yo. ¿Son del linaje de Abrahán?, también lo soy yo:
¿Son Hebreos? yo también. ¿Son Israelitas? yo también. ¿Son simiente de Abraham? también yo.
Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I.

¿Son ministros de Cristo ? (aunque me expongo a pasar por imprudente), diré que yo lo soy más que ellos, pues me he visto en muchísimos más trabajos, más en las cárceles, en azotes sin medida, en riesgos de muerte frecuentemente;
¿Son ministros de Cristo? (como poco sabio hablo) yo más: en trabajos más abundante; en azotes sin medida; en cárceles más; en muertes, muchas veces.
Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
Are they servants of Christ? (I speak as one beside himself.) I am more so: in labors more abundantly, in prisons more abundantly, in stripes above measure, and in deaths often.
cinco veces recibí de los judíos cuarenta azotes menos uno;
De los judíos cinco veces he recibido cuarenta azotes menos uno.
Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.

Me he hallado en penosos viajes muchas veces, en peligros de ríos, peligros de ladrones, peligros de los de mi nación, peligros de los gentiles, peligros en poblado, peligros en despoblado, peligros en el mar, peligros entre falsos hermanos;

en toda suerte de trabajos y miserias, en muchas vigilias y desvelos, en hambre y sed, en muchos ayunos, en frío y desnudez.

In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

Fuera de estas cosas o males exteriores, cargan sobre mí las ocurrencias de cada día, por la solicitud y cuidado de todas las iglesias.

Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.

¿Quién enferma, que no enferme yo con él?; ¿quién es escandalizado, o cae en pecado, que yo no me requeme?

Who is weak, and I am not weak? who is offended, and I burn not?
