Como es necesario para mí gloriarme a mí mismo, aunque no sea algo bueno, llegaré a visiones y revelaciones del Señor.

And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
By reason of the exceeding greatness of the revelations, that I should not be exalted excessively, a thorn in the flesh was given to me: a messenger of Satan to torment me, that I should not be exalted excessively.
Y sobre este asunto pedí tres veces al Señor que me fuera quitado.

For what is it wherein ye were inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? forgive me this wrong.

Le pedí a Tito que fuera a visitarlos, y envié al hermano con él. ¿Tito te sacó provecho? ¿No fuimos guiados por el mismo Espíritu de la misma manera?
Rogué á Tito, y envié con él al hermano. ¿Os engañó quizá Tito? ¿no hemos procedido con el mismo espíritu y por las mismas pisadas?
I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus make a gain of you? walked we not in the same spirit? walked we not in the same steps?
I exhorted Titus, and I sent the brother with him. Did Titus take any advantage of you? Didn’t we walk in the same spirit? Didn’t we walk in the same steps?
Puede parecer que nos estamos disculpando ante ustedes; pero no es así pero estamos diciendo estas cosas delante de Dios en Cristo. Por todo, queridos hermanos, es para que crezcan espiritualmente.
¿Pensáis aún que nos excusamos con vosotros? Delante de Dios en Cristo hablamos: mas todo, muy amados, por vuestra edificación.
Again, think ye that we excuse ourselves unto you? we speak before God in Christ: but we do all things, dearly beloved, for your edifying.

Porque tengo temor de que, cuando vuelva, no los encuentre como quisiera, y que tampoco ustedes me encuentren como ustedes quisieran. Temo que puede haber peleas, odio, sentimientos de enojo, divisiones, hablar mal de los demás, murmuraciones, pensamientos de orgullo, arrebatos contra la autoridad;
Porque temo que cuando llegare, no os halle tales como quiero, y yo sea hallado de vosotros cual no queréis; que haya entre vosotros contiendas, envidias, iras, disensiones, detracciones, murmuraciones, elaciones, bandos:
For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings, swellings, tumults:
For I am afraid that perhaps when I come, I might find you not the way I want to, and that I might be found by you as you don’t desire, that perhaps there would be strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, whisperings, proud thoughts, or riots,
Y que cuando vuelva, mi Dios me avergüence entre ustedes, y pueda sentir dolor por aquellos que desde hace tiempo han estado pecando y no hayan tenido arrepentimiento por sus caminos inmundos, y por la inmoralidad sexual y los vicios que practicaban.
Que cuando volviere, me humille Dios entre vosotros, y haya de llorar por muchos de los que antes habrán pecado, y no se han arrepentido de la inmundicia y fornicación y deshonestidad que han cometido.
And lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and that I shall bewail many which have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed.
