Esta será la tercera vez que los visite. Las Escrituras dicen que «en todo asunto debe haber dos o tres testigos».
ESTA tercera vez voy á vosotros. En la boca de dos ó de tres testigos consistirá todo negocio.

Les presentaré las pruebas que desean tener de que Cristo habla a través de mí. Cristo no anda con debilidades al tratarlos a ustedes; al contrario, los trata con vigor.
Pues buscáis una prueba de Cristo que habla en mí, el cual no es flaco para con vosotros, antes es poderoso en vosotros.
Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

Su débil cuerpo humano murió en la cruz, pero ahora vive por el poder de Dios. Nosotros también, al igual que él lo era, somos débiles; pero ahora, unidos a él, vivimos y tenemos el poder de Dios para tratar con ustedes.
Porque aunque fué crucificado por flaqueza, empero vive por potencia de Dios. Pues también nosotros somos flacos con él, mas viviremos con él por la potencia de Dios para con vosotros.

Examínense para ver si siguen teniendo fe en el Señor. ¡Pónganse a prueba a ver si la pasan! ¿Se echa de ver que Cristo está en ustedes?
Examinaos á vosotros mismos si estáis en fe; probaos á vosotros mismos. ¿No os conocéis á vosotros mismos, que Jesucristo está en vosotros? si ya no sois reprobados.

Espero que sepan que nosotros ya hemos pasado el examen.
Mas espero que conoceréis que nosotros no somos reprobados.

Oramos que lleven vidas puras, no para que quede demostrado que tuve éxito, sino para que vivan como se debe vivir, aunque parezca que nosotros hemos fracasado;
Y oramos á Dios que ninguna cosa mala hagáis; no para que nosotros seamos hallados aprobados, mas para que vosotros hagáis lo que es bueno, aunque nosotros seamos como reprobados.
Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

pues sólo podemos hacer lo que está a favor de la verdad y no lo que está en contra de ella.

Por eso nos alegramos cuando nosotros somos débiles, con tal de que ustedes sean fuertes. Nuestra oración es que Dios los restaure en todo.

For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.

Les he escrito esta carta con la esperanza de que cuando los visite no tenga que ser duro y usar mi autoridad. Quiero emplear la autoridad que me confirió el Señor para ayudarlos a madurar y no para destruirlos.
Por tanto os escribo esto ausente, por no tratar presente con dureza, conforme á la potestad que el Señor me ha dado para edificación, y no para destrucción.
Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

Concluyo con estas palabras: Estén contentos, busquen su restauración, consuélense, vivan en paz y armonía, y el Dios de amor y paz estará con ustedes.
Resta, hermanos, que tengáis gozo, seáis perfectos, tengáis consolación, sintáis una misma cosa, tengáis paz; y el Dios de paz y de caridad será con vosotros.
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
Finally, brothers, rejoice! Be perfected. Be comforted. Be of the same mind. Live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.
