Mirad que por tercera vez voy a visitaros; por el dicho de dos o tres testigos, como dice la ley, se decidirá todo.
ESTA tercera vez voy á vosotros. En la boca de dos ó de tres testigos consistirá todo negocio.

Ya lo dije antes estando presente, y lo vuelvo a decir ahora ausente, que si voy otra vez no perdonaré a los que antes pecaron, ni a todos los demás.

I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:
I have warned previously, and I warn again, as when I was present the second time, so now, being absent, I write to those who have sinned before now and to all the rest that if I come again, I will not spare,
¿O queréis acaso hacer prueba del poder de Cristo , que habla por mi boca, y del cual ya sabéis que no ha mostrado entre vosotros flaqueza, sino poder y virtud?
Pues buscáis una prueba de Cristo que habla en mí, el cual no es flaco para con vosotros, antes es poderoso en vosotros.
Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

Porque si bien fue crucificado como débil según la carne, no obstante vive ahora por la virtud de Dios. Así también nosotros somos débiles con él; pero estaremos también vivos con él por la virtud de Dios que haremos brillar entre vosotros.

Mas yo espero que reconoceréis, que por lo que toca a nosotros no hemos decaído de lo que éramos.

But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

Y rogamos a Dios que no cometáis mal alguno, y no al contrario que nosotros aparezcamos ser lo que somos con la ostensión de nuestro poder, sino que obréis bien, aun cuando parezcamos nosotros haber decaído de lo que somos.
Y oramos á Dios que ninguna cosa mala hagáis; no para que nosotros seamos hallados aprobados, mas para que vosotros hagáis lo que es bueno, aunque nosotros seamos como reprobados.
Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

Por tanto, os escribo estas cosas estando ausente a fin de que presente no haya de proceder con rigor, usando de la potestad que Dios me ha dado, la cual es para la edificación y no para ruina o destrucción.

Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

Por lo demás, hermanos, estad alegres, sed perfectos, exhortaos los unos a los otros, reuníos en un mismo espíritu y corazón, vivid en paz, y el Dios de la paz y de la caridad será con vosotros.
Resta, hermanos, que tengáis gozo, seáis perfectos, tengáis consolación, sintáis una misma cosa, tengáis paz; y el Dios de paz y de caridad será con vosotros.
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
Finally, brothers, rejoice! Be perfected. Be comforted. Be of the same mind. Live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.
