ESTO pues determiné para conmigo, no venir otra vez á vosotros con tristeza.

Se vos causei dor, quem poderia me animar senão aquele que foi entristecido por mim?
Porque si yo os contristo, ¿quién será luego el que me alegrará, sino aquel á quien yo contristare?
For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?
For if I make you grieve, then who will make me glad but he who is made to grieve by me?
Escrevi dessa forma para que, quando vos visitasse, eu não fosse entristecido pelos que deveriam me fazer regozijar. Eu confio que minha alegria é a mesma que a de todos vós.
Y esto mismo os escribí, porque cuando llegare no tenga tristeza sobre tristeza de los que me debiera gozar; confiando en vosotros todos que mi gozo es el de todos vosotros.
And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

Pois vos escrevi em grande aflição, com angústia de coração, e com muitas lágrimas. Eu não queria vos causar dor; em vez disso, queria que Conhecêsseis a profundidade do amor que tenho por vós.
Porque por la mucha tribulación y angustia del corazón os escribí con muchas lágrimas; no para que fueseis contristados, mas para que supieseis cuánto más amor tengo para con vosotros.

Se alguém causou dor, não causou apenas a mim, mas em certa medida, a todos vós, para não ser tão severo.
Que si alguno me contristó, no me contristó á mí, sino en parte, por no cargaros, á todos vosotros.
But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.
But if any has caused sorrow, he has caused sorrow not to me, but in part (that I not press too heavily) to you all.
A punição dessa pessoa pela maioria é suficiente.
Bástale al tal esta reprensión hecha de muchos;
Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.

Agora, ao invés da punição, deveis perdoá-lo e confortá-lo, para que ele não seja sobrecarregado de tanta tristeza.
Así que, al contrario, vosotros más bien lo perdonéis y consoléis, porque no sea el tal consumido de demasiada tristeza.
So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

Esse foi o motivo por que escrevi, para que eu pudesse vos examinar e entender se sois obedientes em tudo.

Se perdoais a alguém, também perdoo essa pessoa. O que perdoei, se é que perdoei alguma coisa, está perdoado por vossa causa na presença de Cristo,

para que Satanás não nos engane. Pois nós não somos ignorantes de seus planos.

Mas á Dios gracias, el cual hace que siempre triunfemos en Cristo Jesús, y manifiesta el olor de su conocimiento por nosotros en todo lugar.
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and reveals through us the sweet aroma of his knowledge in every place.
Pois nós somos para Deus o doce perfume de Cristo, tanto entre aqueles que são salvos como entre aqueles que estão perecendo.
Porque para Dios somos buen olor de Cristo en los que se salvan, y en los que se pierden:
For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
For we are a sweet aroma of Christ to God in those who are being saved and in those who perish:
Para os que estão perecendo, é um aroma de morte para a morte. Para os que estão sendo salvos, é um aroma de vida para a vida. Quem é digno dessas coisas?
A éstos ciertamente olor de muerte para muerte; y á aquéllos olor de vida para vida. Y para estas cosas ¿quién es suficiente?
To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
to the one a stench from death to death, to the other a sweet aroma from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?
Pois nós não somos como tantas pessoas que vendem a palavra de Deus pelo lucro. Ao invés disso, com motivos puros, falamos em Cristo, como enviados de Deus, à vista de Deus.
Porque no somos como muchos, mercaderes falsos de la palabra de Dios: antes con sinceridad, como de Dios, delante de Dios, hablamos en Cristo.
For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
