Por eso decidí que evitaría otra visita triste con ustedes.
ESTO pues determiné para conmigo, no venir otra vez á vosotros con tristeza.
But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness.

Porque si les causo tristeza, ¿quién estará allí para alegrarme a mí? ¡No serán ustedes mismos, a quienes entristecí!

For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?

Por eso escribí lo que escribí, para no estar triste por los que deberían causarme alegría. Estaba muy seguro de que todos ustedes participarían de mi felicidad.
Y esto mismo os escribí, porque cuando llegare no tenga tristeza sobre tristeza de los que me debiera gozar; confiando en vosotros todos que mi gozo es el de todos vosotros.
And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

Lloré mucho cuando les escribí, en gran angustia y con un corazón cargado, no para entristecerlos, sino para que supieran cuánto los amo.
Porque por la mucha tribulación y angustia del corazón os escribí con muchas lágrimas; no para que fueseis contristados, mas para que supieseis cuánto más amor tengo para con vosotros.

Sin exagerar, pero la persona que causó mi tristeza, provocó más dolor a todos ustedes que a mí.
Que si alguno me contristó, no me contristó á mí, sino en parte, por no cargaros, á todos vosotros.
But if any have caused grief, he hath not grieved me, but in part: that I may not overcharge you all.

Esta persona sufrió suficiente castigo por parte de la mayoría de ustedes,
Bástale al tal esta reprensión hecha de muchos;
Sufficient to such a man is this punishment, which was inflicted of many.

así que ahora deben perdonarlo y ser amables con él. De lo contrario, podría hundirse en el remordimiento.
Así que, al contrario, vosotros más bien lo perdonéis y consoléis, porque no sea el tal consumido de demasiada tristeza.
So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.

Así que yo los animo a que públicamente confirmen su amor hacia él.
Por lo cual os ruego que confirméis el amor para con él.

Por eso escribí, para poder Conocer el carácter de ustedes y comprobar si están haciendo lo que se les enseñó.

De este modo, Satanás no podrá llevarnos hacia el pecado, porque conocemos las trampas que él inventa.
Porque no seamos engañados de Satanás: pues no ignoramos sus maquinaciones.
Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and reveals through us the sweet aroma of his knowledge in every place.
Somos como una fragancia de Cristo para Dios, que se eleva entre los que son salvos así como entre los que mueren.
Porque para Dios somos buen olor de Cristo en los que se salvan, y en los que se pierden:
For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:
For we are a sweet aroma of Christ to God in those who are being saved and in those who perish:
Para los que mueren, es el aroma de la descomposición, pero para los que son salvos, es el aroma de la vida. ¿Pero de quién depende esta tarea?
A éstos ciertamente olor de muerte para muerte; y á aquéllos olor de vida para vida. Y para estas cosas ¿quién es suficiente?
To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?
to the one a stench from death to death, to the other a sweet aroma from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things?
No somos como la mayoría, que hacen negocios con la palabra de Dios por conveniencia. Muy por el contrario: somos sinceros al predicar la palabra de Dios en Cristo, sabiendo que él nos ve.
Porque no somos como muchos, mercaderes falsos de la palabra de Dios: antes con sinceridad, como de Dios, delante de Dios, hablamos en Cristo.
For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.
For we are not as so many, peddling the word of God. But as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God, we speak in Christ.
