The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

à cause de la vérité qui demeure en nous, et qui sera avec nous éternellement.
Por la verdad que está en nosotros, y será perpetuamente con nosotros:

Car beaucoup de séducteurs se sont répandus dans le monde, ne confessant point Jésus-Christ venant en chair ; c'est là le séducteur et l'antéchrist.
Porque muchos engañadores son entrados en el mundo, los cuales no confiesan que Jesucristo ha venido en carne. Este tal el engañador es, y el anticristo.
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

Prenez garde à vous-mêmes, afin que vous ne perdiez pas le fruit de notre travail, mais que vous receviez une pleine récompense.
Mirad por vosotros mismos, porque no perdamos las cosas que hemos obrado, sino que recibamos galardón cumplido.
Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

Quiconque va plus loin et ne demeure pas dans la doctrine du Christ, n'a point Dieu. Celui qui demeure dans la doctrine, celui-là a et le Père et le Fils.
Cualquiera que se rebela, y no persevera en la doctrina de Cristo, no tiene á Dios: el que persevera en la doctrina de Cristo, el tal tiene al Padre y al Hijo.
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.

Si quelqu'un vient à vous et n'apporte point cette doctrine, ne le recevez pas dans votre maison, et ne lui dites point : Salut !
Si alguno viene á vosotros, y no trae esta doctrina, no lo recibáis en casa, ni le digáis: ¡bienvenido!
If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
If anyone comes to you and doesn’t bring this teaching, don’t receive him into your house, and don’t welcome him,
car celui qui lui dit : Salut ! participe à ses mauvaises œuvres.
Porque el que le dice bienvenido, comunica con sus malas obras.
For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Quoique j'eusse beaucoup de choses à vous écrire, je n'ai pas voulu le faire avec le papier et l'encre ; mais j'espère me rendre auprès de vous et vous parler bouche à bouche, afin que notre joie soit accomplie.
