En atención a la misma verdad, que permanece en nosotros, y estará con nosotros eternamente,
EL anciano á la señora elegida y á sus hijos, á los cuales yo amo en verdad; y no yo solo, sino también todos los que han conocido la verdad,

gracia, misericordia y paz sea con vosotros en verdad y caridad, de parte de Dios Padre, y de Cristo Jesús , el Hijo del Padre.
Por la verdad que está en nosotros, y será perpetuamente con nosotros:

Me he alegrado en extremo de haber hallado algunos de tus hijos en el camino de la verdad, conforme al mandamiento que recibimos del Padre celestial.

Por eso ahora, señora, te ruego, no ya escribiéndote un nuevo mandamiento, sino el mismo que tuvimos desde el principio , que nos amemos unos a otros.
Mucho me he gozado, porque he hallado de tus hijos, que andan en verdad, como nosotros hemos recibido el mandamiento del Padre.
I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

Y la caridad consiste en que procedamos según los mandamientos de Dios. Porque tal es el mandamiento que habéis recibido desde el principio y según el cual debéis caminar.
Y ahora te ruego, señora, no como escribiéndote un nuevo mandamiento, sino aquel que nosotros hemos tenido desde el principio, que nos amemos unos á otros.

Puesto que se han descubierto en el mundo muchos impostores que no confiesan que Jesucristo haya venido en carne verdadera; negar esto es ser un impostor y un anticristo.
Y este es amor, que andemos según sus mandamientos. Este es el mandamiento: Que andéis en él, como vosotros habéis oído desde el principio.
And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
This is love, that we should walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, even as you heard from the beginning, that you should walk in it.
Vosotros estad sobre aviso, para no perder vuestros trabajos, sino que antes bien recibáis cumplida recompensa.
Porque muchos engañadores son entrados en el mundo, los cuales no confiesan que Jesucristo ha venido en carne. Este tal el engañador es, y el anticristo.
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who don’t confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the Antichrist.
Todo aquel que no persevera en la doctrina de Cristo , sino que se aparta de ella, no tiene a Dios; el que persevera en ella, ése tiene, o posee dentro de sí al Padre y al Hijo.
Mirad por vosotros mismos, porque no perdamos las cosas que hemos obrado, sino que recibamos galardón cumplido.
Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
Watch yourselves, that we don’t lose the things which we have accomplished, but that we receive a full reward.
Si viene alguno a vosotros, y no trae esta doctrina, no lo recibáis en casa, ni le saludéis.
Cualquiera que se rebela, y no persevera en la doctrina de Cristo, no tiene á Dios: el que persevera en la doctrina de Cristo, el tal tiene al Padre y al Hijo.
Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
Whoever transgresses and doesn’t remain in the teaching of Christ doesn’t have God. He who remains in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.
Porque quien le saluda, comunica en cierto modo con sus acciones perversas.
Si alguno viene á vosotros, y no trae esta doctrina, no lo recibáis en casa, ni le digáis: ¡bienvenido!
If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
If anyone comes to you and doesn’t bring this teaching, don’t receive him into your house, and don’t welcome him,
Aunque tenía otras muchas cosas que escribiros, no he querido hacerlo por medio de papel y tinta; porque espero ir a veros, y hablar boca a boca, para que vuestro gozo sea cumplido.
Porque el que le dice bienvenido, comunica con sus malas obras.
For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
for he who welcomes him participates in his evil deeds.

Aunque tengo muchas cosas que escribiros, no he querido comunicarlas por medio de papel y tinta; mas espero ir á vosotros, y hablar boca á boca, para que nuestro gozo sea cumplido.
