Als aber Athalja, die Mutter Ahasjas, erfuhr, daß ihr Sohn tot sei, machte sie sich daran, alle, die zur königlichen Familie gehörten, umzubringen.

Aber Joseba, die Tochter des Königs Joram, Ahasjas Schwester, nahm Joas, den Sohn Ahasjas, und schaffte ihn aus der Mitte der Königssöhne, die ermordet werden sollten, heimlich beiseite, indem sie ihn mit seiner Amme in die Bettzeugkammer brachte; sie verbarg ihn dort vor Athalja, so daß er der Ermordung entging.

Pero tomando Josaba hija del rey Joram, hermana de Ochôzías, á Joas hijo de Ochôzías, sacólo furtivamente de entre los hijos del rey, que se mataban, y ocultólo de delante de Athalía, á él y á su ama, en la cámara de las camas, y así no lo mataron.

Er blieb dann sechs Jahre lang bei ihr im Hause des HERRN versteckt, während Athalja das Land regierte.

Im siebten Jahre aber ließ Jojada die Hauptleute der Karer und der Läufer holen und zu sich in den Tempel des HERRN kommen; da schloß er ein feierliches Abkommen mit ihnen und ließ sie im Tempel einen Eid ablegen; dann zeigte er ihnen den Königssohn

Mas al séptimo año envió Joiada, y tomó centuriones, capitanes, y gente de la guardia, y metiólos consigo en la casa de Jehová: é hizo con ellos liga, juramentándolos en la casa de Jehová; y mostróles al hijo del rey.

und gab ihnen die Weisung: »Folgendermaßen müßt ihr zu Werke gehen: Das eine Drittel von euch, das am Sabbat (aus dem Tempel) abzieht, um die Wache im königlichen Palast zu übernehmen,

und das (andere) Drittel am Tore Sur und das (letzte) Drittel am Tore hinter den Leibwächtern, die ihr die Wache beim Palast gehalten habt –

And two parts of all you that go forth on the sabbath, even they shall keep the watch of the house of the LORD about the king.

Ihr müßt euch also rings um den König scharen, ein jeder mit seinen Waffen in der Hand; und wer in die Reihen eindringt, soll getötet werden; und ihr müßt dann beständig um den König sein, wenn er (aus dem Tempel) auszieht und wenn er (in den Palast) einzieht.«

Die Hauptleute verfuhren dann genau nach der Anweisung des Priesters Jojada: jeder nahm seine Mannschaft zu sich, sowohl die, welche am Sabbat abzog, als auch die, welche am Sabbat aufzog, und so kamen sie zum Priester Jojada.

Los centuriones pues, hicieron todo como el sacerdote Joiada les mandó: y tomando cada uno los suyos, es á saber, los que habían de entrar el sábado, y los que habían salido el sábado, viniéronse á Joiada el sacerdote.

Dieser gab dann den Hauptleuten die Speere und die Schilde, die dem König David gehört hatten und die sich im Tempel des HERRN befanden.

Nachdem sich hierauf die Leibwächter, ein jeder mit seinen Waffen in der Hand, von der Südseite des Tempels bis an den Altar und von da wieder bis an die Nordseite des Tempels aufgestellt hatten,

Hier sah sie dann den König an der Säule, wie es Brauch war, und die Hauptleute und die Trompeter neben dem Könige stehen, während das gesamte Volk des Landes voller Freude war und in die Trompeten stieß. Da zerriß Athalja ihre Kleider und rief: »Verrat, Verrat!«

Aber der Priester Jojada gab den Hauptleuten †den Befehlshabern des Heeres den Befehl: »Führt sie hinaus zwischen den Reihen hindurch, und wer ihr folgt, den haut mit dem Schwerte nieder!« Der Priester hatte nämlich befohlen, sie dürfe ja nicht im Tempel des HERRN getötet werden.

But Jehoiada the priest commanded the captains of the hundreds, the officers of the host, and said unto them, Have her forth without the ranges: and him that followeth her kill with the sword. For the priest had said, Let her not be slain in the house of the LORD.

Da legte man Hand an sie, und als sie an dem Wege, der zum Eingang für die Pferde bestimmt war, beim königlichen Palast angelangt war, wurde sie dort getötet.

nahm er die Hauptleute und die Karer und Trabanten sowie alles Volk des Landes mit sich, und sie führten den König aus dem Tempel des HERRN hinab und zogen durch das Leibwächtertor in das königliche Schloß ein, wo er sich auf den königlichen Thron setzte.

And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was in quiet: and they slew Athaliah with the sword beside the king’s house.
