1En el año veintitrés de Joás, hijo de Ocozías, rey de Judá, Joacaz, hijo de Jehú, se convirtió en rey de Israel en Samaria, y gobernó durante diecisiete años.
2Hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, copiando los pecados de Jeroboam, el hijo de Nebat, lo que hizo e hizo que Israel hiciera; no se apartó de ellos.
3Entonces la ira del Señor se encendió contra Israel, y los entregó al poder de Hazael, rey de Siria, y al poder de Benadad, el hijo de Hazael, una y otra vez.
4Entonces Joacaz oró al Señor, y el Señor le escuchó, porque vio cuán cruelmente oprimido era Israel por el rey de Siria.
5Y el Señor le dio a Israel un salvador, para que se liberaran de las manos de los sirios, y los hijos de Israel vivían en sus tiendas como en el pasado.
6Pero aun así no abandonaron el pecado de Jeroboam, lo que hizo que Israel hiciera, sino que continuaron con él; y había una imagen de Asera en Samaria.
7Porque de todo su ejército, Joacaz tenía sólo cincuenta jinetes y diez carruajes y diez mil soldados de infantería; el rey de Siria los había entregado a la destrucción, y hecho polvo.
8Los demás hechos de Joacaz, y todo lo que hizo, y su gran poder, ¿no están registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?
9Y Joacaz durmió con sus padres, y fue enterrado en Samaria; y su hijo Joás se convirtió en rey en su lugar.
10En el año treinta y siete del gobierno de Joás, rey de Judá, Joás, hijo de Joacaz, se convirtió en rey de Israel en Samaria, y gobernó durante dieciséis años.
11Hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor, sin apartarse del pecado de Jeroboam, el hijo de Nabat, que hizo pecar a Israel, y siguió adelante pecando.
12El resto de los hechos de Joás, y todo lo que hizo, y la fuerza con que fue a la guerra contra Amasías, rey de Judá, no están registrados en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?
13Y Joás durmió con sus padres, y Jeroboam tomó su lugar como rey; y Joás fue enterrado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel.
14Entonces Eliseo se enfermó con la enfermedad que causó su muerte y descendió a él Joás, rey de Israel, y llorando sobre él, dijo: Mi padre, mi padre, los carros de Israel y sus jinetes.
15Entonces Eliseo le dijo: Toma arco y flechas, y él tomó arco y flechas.
16Entonces dijo al rey de Israel: Pon tu mano sobre el arco, y él puso su mano sobre él. y Eliseo puso sus manos sobre las manos del rey.
17Entonces dijo: Que la ventana se abra hacia el este: y la abrió. Entonces Eliseo dijo: Deja ir la flecha; y lo dejó ir. Y él dijo: La flecha de salvación del Señor, de la salvación contra Siria; porque vencerás a los sirios en Afec y les pondrás fin.
18Y él dijo: Toma las flechas, y él las tomó. Y dijo al rey de Israel: Envíalos a la tierra; Y lo hizo tres veces y no más.
19Entonces el hombre de Dios se enojó con él y le dijo: Si lo hubieras hecho cinco o seis veces, habrías vencido a Siria completamente; Pero ahora solo los superarás tres veces.
20Y vino la muerte a Eliseo, y lo enterraron. Ahora, en la primavera del año, las bandas armadas de moabitas venían con frecuencia, invadiendo la tierra.
21Y mientras estaban sepultando a un hombre, vieron venir una banda; y pusieron al hombre rápidamente en el lugar donde estaba el cuerpo de Eliseo; y el hombre muerto, al tocar los huesos de Elisea, volvió a la vida y se puso de pie.
22E Israel fue oprimido bajo el poder de Hazael, rey de Siria, todos los días de Joacaz.
23Pero el Señor fue amable con ellos y tuvo compasión de ellos, cuidándolos, debido a su acuerdo con Abraham, Isaac y Jacob; no los destruiría ni los enviaría lejos de su rostro hasta ahora.
24Entonces Hazael, rey de Siria, llegó a su fin; y Ben-adad su hijo se convirtió en rey en su lugar.
25Y Joás, el hijo de Joacaz, volvió a tomar de Ben-adad, el hijo de Hazael, las ciudades que había tomado de Joacaz su padre en la guerra. Tres veces Joás lo venció y volvió a los pueblos de Israel.

1EN el año veintitrés de Joas hijo de Ochôzías, rey de Judá, comenzó á reinar Joachâz hijo de Jehú sobre Israel en Samaria; y reinó diecisiete años.
2E hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová, y siguió los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar á Israel; y no se apartó de ellos.
3Y encendióse el furor de Jehová contra Israel, y entrególos en mano de Hazael rey de Siria, y en mano de Ben-adad hijo de Hazael, por largo tiempo.
4Mas Joachâz oró á la faz de Jehová, y Jehová lo oyó: porque miró la aflicción de Israel, pues el rey de Siria los afligía.
5(Y dió Jehová salvador á Israel, y salieron de bajo la mano de los Siros; y habitaron los hijos de Israel en sus estancias, como antes.
6Con todo eso no se apartaron de los pecados de la casa de Jeroboam, el que hizo pecar á Israel: en ellos anduvieron; y también el bosque permaneció en Samaria.)
7Porque no le había quedado gente á Joachâz, sino cincuenta hombres de á caballo, y diez carros, y diez mil hombres de á pié; pues el rey de Siria los había destruído, y los había puesto como polvo para hollar.

15Y díjole Eliseo: Toma un arco y unas saetas. Tomóse él entonces un arco y unas saetas.
16Y dijo Eliseo al rey de Israel: Pon tu mano sobre el arco. Y puso él su mano sobre el arco. Entonces puso Eliseo sus manos sobre las manos del rey,
17Y dijo: Abre la ventana de hacia el oriente. Y como él la abrió dijo Eliseo: Tira. Y tirando él, dijo Eliseo: Saeta de salud de Jehová, y saeta de salud contra Siria: porque herirás á los Siros en Aphec, hasta consumirlos.
18Y tornóle á decir: Toma las saetas. Y luego que el rey de Israel las hubo tomado, díjole: Hiere la tierra. Y él hirió tres veces, y cesó.
19Entonces el varón de Dios, enojado con él, le dijo: A herir cinco ó seis veces, herirías á Siria, hasta no quedar ninguno: empero ahora tres veces herirás á Siria.
20Y murió Eliseo, y sepultáronlo. Entrado el año vinieron partidas de Moabitas á la tierra.
21Y aconteció que al sepultar unos un hombre, súbitamente vieron una partida, y arrojaron al hombre en el sepulcro de Eliseo: y cuando llegó á tocar el muerto los huesos de Eliseo, revivió, y levantóse sobre sus pies.
22Hazael pues, rey de Siria, afligió á Israel todo el tiempo de Joachâz.
23Mas Jehová tuvo misericordia de ellos, y compadecióse de ellos, y mirólos, por amor de su pacto con Abraham, Isaac y Jacob; y no quiso destruirlos ni echarlos de delante de sí hasta ahora.
24Y murió Hazael rey de Siria, y reinó en su lugar Ben-adad su hijo.
25Y volvió Joas hijo de Joachâz, y tomó de mano de Ben-adad hijo de Hazael, las ciudades que él había tomado de mano de Joachâz su padre en guerra. Tres veces lo batió Joas, y restituyó las ciudades á Israel.

1In the three and twentieth year of Joash the son of Ahaziah king of Judah Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned seventeen years.
2And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.
3And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Ben-hadad the son of Hazael, all their days.
4And Jehoahaz besought the LORD, and the LORD hearkened unto him: for he saw the oppression of Israel, because the king of Syria oppressed them.
5(And the LORD gave Israel a saviour, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians: and the children of Israel dwelt in their tents, as beforetime.
6Nevertheless they departed not from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, who made Israel sin, but walked therein: and there remained the grove also in Samaria.)
7Neither did he leave of the people to Jehoahaz but fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like the dust by threshing.
8Now the rest of the acts of Jehoahaz, and all that he did, and his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
9And Jehoahaz slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria: and Joash his son reigned in his stead.
10In the thirty and seventh year of Joash king of Judah began Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz to reign over Israel in Samaria, and reigned sixteen years.
11And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin: but he walked therein.
12And the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, and his might wherewith he fought against Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
13And Joash slept with his fathers; and Jeroboam sat upon his throne: and Joash was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel.
14Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.
15And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.
16And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king’s hands.
17And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the LORD’s deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.
18And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.
19And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.
20And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year.
21And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
22But Hazael king of Syria oppressed Israel all the days of Jehoahaz.
23And the LORD was gracious unto them, and had compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.
24So Hazael king of Syria died; and Ben-hadad his son reigned in his stead.
25And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Ben-hadad the son of Hazael the cities, which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash beat him, and recovered the cities of Israel.

1In the twenty-third year of Joash the son of Ahaziah, king of Judah, Jehoahaz the son of Jehu began to reign over Israel in Samaria for seventeen years.
2He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, and followed the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin. He didn’t depart from it.
3The LORD’s anger burned against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael, continually.
4Jehoahaz begged the LORD, and the LORD listened to him; for he saw the oppression of Israel, how the king of Syria oppressed them.
5(The LORD gave Israel a savior, so that they went out from under the hand of the Syrians; and the children of Israel lived in their tents as before.
6Nevertheless they didn’t depart from the sins of the house of Jeroboam, with which he made Israel to sin, but walked in them; and the Asherah also remained in Samaria.)

19The man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times. Then you would have struck Syria until you had consumed it, but now you will strike Syria just three times.”

21As they were burying a man, behold, they saw a band of raiders; and they threw the man into Elisha’s tomb. As soon as the man touched Elisha’s bones, he revived, and stood up on his feet.

23But the LORD was gracious to them, and had compassion on them, and favored them because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them and he didn’t cast them from his presence as yet.

25Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Benhadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Joash struck him three times, and recovered the cities of Israel.
