1L'ANNO secondo di Gioas, figliuolo di Gioachaz, re d'Israele, Amasia, figliuolo di Gioas, re di Giuda, cominciò a regnare.
2Egli era d'età di venticinque anni, quando cominciò a regnare, a regnò ventinove anni in Gerusalemme. E il nome di sua madre era Gioaddan, da Gerusalemme.
3Egli fece ciò che piace al Signore; non però come Davide, suo padre; egli fece interamente come avea fatto Gioas, suo padre.
4Sol gli alti luoghi non furono tolti; il popolo sacrificava ancora, e faceva profumi in su gli alti luoghi.
5Ora, come il regno fu stabilito nelle sue mani, egli percosse i suoi servitori, che aveano ucciso il re suo padre.
6Ma non fece morire i figliuoli loro, secondo ch'è scritto nel libro della Legge di Mosè, nella quale il Signore ha comandato che non si facciano morire i padri per li figliuoli, nè i figliuoli per li padri; anzi, che ciascuno sia fatto morire per lo suo proprio peccato.
7Egli percosse gl'Idumei nella valle del sale, in numero di dodicimila uomini; e prese Sela per forza d'arme, e le pose nome Iocteel, il qual le dura infino ad oggi.
8Allora Amasia mandò messi a Gioas, figliuolo di Gioachaz, figliuolo di Iehu, re d'Israele, a dirgli: Vieni, veggiamoci in faccia l'un l'altro.
9Ma Gioas, re d'Israele, mandò a dire ad Amasia, re di Giuda: Uno spino ch'era nel Libano, mandò già a dire al cedro del Libano: Da' la tua figliuola per moglie al mio figliuolo; ma le fiere del Libano, passando, calpestarono quello spino.
10Tu hai gravemente percossi gl'Idumei, e perciò il tuo cuore ti fa innalzare; godi della tua gloria, e stattene in casa tua; perchè ti rimescoleresti in un male, per lo quale tu, e Giuda teco, cadereste?
11Ma Amasia non gli diè d'orecchio. Gioas adunque, re d'Israele, salì contro ad Amasia, re di Giuda; ed essi si videro l'un l'altro in faccia in Bet-semes, città di Giuda.
12E Giuda fu sconfitto da Israele; e ciascuno se ne fuggì alle sue stanze.
13E Gioas, re d'Israele, prese in Bet-semes Amasia, re di Giuda, figliuolo di Gioas, figliuolo di Achazia; poi venne in Gerusalemme, e fece una rottura nel muro di Gerusalemme, dalla porta di Efraim, infino alla porta del Cantone, lo spazio di quattrocento cubiti.
14E prese tutto l'oro e l'argento, e tutti i vasellamenti che si trovarono nella Casa del Signore, e nei tesori della casa del re; prese eziandio stadichi; poi se ne ritornò in Samaria.
15Ora, quant'è al rimanente de' fatti di Gioas, e la sua prodezza, e come egli combattè con Amasia, re di Giuda; queste cose non sono esse scritte nel libro delle Croniche dei re d'Israele?
16E Gioas giacque co' suoi padri, e fu seppellito in Samaria, coi re d'Israele, e Geroboamo, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo.
17Ed Amasia, figliuolo di Gioas, re di Giuda, visse ancora quindici anni, dopo la morte di Gioas, figliuolo di Gioachaz, re d'Israele.
18Ora, quant'è al rimanente de' fatti di Amasia; queste cose non sono esse scritte nel libro delle Croniche dei re di Giuda?
19Or alcuni fecero una congiura contro a lui, in Gerusalemme; ed egli fuggì in Lachis; ma essi gli mandarono dietro in Lachis, e l'uccisero quivi.
20E di là fu portato sopra cavalli, e fu seppellito in Gerusalemme, co' suoi padri, nella Città di Davide.
21E tutto il popolo di Giuda prese Azaria, il quale era d'età di sedici anni, e lo costituirono re, in luogo di Amasia, suo padre.
22Egli edificò Elat, avendola racquistata a Giuda, dopo che il re fu giaciuto co' suoi padri.
23L'anno quintodecimo di Amasia, figliuolo di Gioas, re di Giuda, Geroboamo, figliuolo di Gioas, re d'Israele, cominciò a regnare in Samaria; e regnò quarantun anno.
24E fece quello che dispiace al Signore; egli non si rivolse da alcuno de' peccati di Geroboamo, figliuolo di Nebat, coi quali egli avea fatto peccare Israele.
25Costui ristabilì i confini d'Israele dall'entrata di Hamat, fino al mare della campagna; secondo la parola del Signore Iddio d'Israele, ch'egli avea pronunziata per lo profeta Giona, suo servitore, figliuolo di Amittai, il quale era da Gat-hefer.
26Perciocchè il Signore vide l'afflizione d'Israele ch'era molto aspra, e che non vi era più nè serrato nè abbandonato, nè chi soccorresse Israele.
27E il Signore non avea ancora parlato di cancellare il nome d'Israele disotto al cielo; e però egli li salvò per man di Geroboamo, figliuolo di Gioas.
28Ora, quant'è al rimanente de' fatti di Geroboamo, e tutto quello ch'egli fece, e la sua prodezza, con la quale guerreggiò, e con la quale racquistò ad Israele Damasco ed Hamat, ch'erano state di Giuda; queste cose non sono esse scritte nel libro delle Croniche dei re d'Israele?
29E Geroboamo giacque co' suoi padri, cioè coi re d'Israele; e Zaccaria, suo figliuolo, regnò in luogo suo.

1EN el año segundo de Joas hijo de Joachâz rey de Israel, comenzó á reinar Amasías hijo de Joas rey de Judá.
2Cuando comenzó á reinar era de veinticinco años, y veintinueve años reinó en Jerusalem: el nombre de su madre fué Joaddan, de Jerusalem.
3Y él hizo lo recto en ojos de Jehová, aunque no como David su padre: hizo conforme á todas las cosas que había hecho Joas su padre.
4Con todo eso los altos no fueron quitados; que el pueblo aun sacrificaba y quemaba perfumes en los altos.
5Y luego que el reino fué confirmado en su mano, hirió á sus siervos, los que habían muerto al rey su padre.
6Mas no mató á los hijos de los que le mataron, conforme á lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, donde Jehová mandó, diciendo: No matarán á los padres por los hijos, ni á los hijos por los padres: mas cada uno morirá por su pecado.
7Este hirió asimismo diez mil Idumeos en el valle de las Salinas, y tomó á Sela por guerra, y llamóla Jocteel, hasta hoy.
8Entonces Amasías envió embajadores á Joas, hijo de Joachâz hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: Ven, y veámonos de rostro.
9Y Joas rey de Israel envió á Amasías rey de Judá esta respuesta: El cardillo que está en el Líbano envió á decir al cedro que está en el Líbano: Da tu hija por mujer á mi hijo. Y pasaron las bestias fieras que están en el Líbano, y hollaron el cardillo.
10Ciertamente has herido á Edom, y tu corazón te ha envanecido: gloríate pues, mas estáte en tu casa. ¿Y por qué te entrometerás en un mal, para que caigas tú, y Judá contigo?
11Mas Amasías no dió oídos; por lo que subió Joas rey de Israel, y viéronse de rostro él y Amasías rey de Judá, en Beth-semes, que es de Judá.
12Y Judá cayó delante de Israel, y huyeron cada uno á sus estancias.
13Además Joas rey de Israel tomó á Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joas hijo de Ochôzías, en Beth-semes: y vino á Jerusalem, y rompió el muro de Jerusalem desde la puerta de Ephraim hasta la puerta de la esquina, cuatrocientos codos.
14Y tomó todo el oro y la plata, y todos los vasos que fueron hallados en la casa de Jehová, y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, y los hijos en rehenes, y volvióse á Samaria.
15Lo demás de los hechos de Joas que ejecutó, y sus hazañas, y cómo peleó contra Amasías rey de Judá, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?
16Y durmió Joas con sus padres, y fué sepultado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Jeroboam su hijo.
17Y Amasías hijo de Joas rey de Judá, vivió después de la muerte de Joas hijo de Joachâz rey de Israel, quince años.
18Lo demás de los hechos de Amasías, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?
19E hicieron conspiración contra él en Jerusalem, y él huyó á Lachîs; mas enviaron tras él á Lachîs, y allá lo mataron.
20Trajéronlo luego sobre caballos, y sepultáronlo en Jerusalem con sus padres, en la ciudad de David.
21Entonces todo el pueblo de Judá tomó á Azarías, que era de diez y seis años, é hiciéronlo rey en lugar de Amasías su padre.
22Edificó él á Elath, y la restituyó á Judá, después que el rey durmió con sus padres.
23El año quince de Amasías hijo de Joas rey de Judá, comenzó á reinar Jeroboam hijo de Joas sobre Israel en Samaria; y reinó cuarenta y un años.
24E hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová, y no se apartó de todos los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar á Israel.
25El restituyó los términos de Israel desde la entrada de Amath hasta la mar de la llanura, conforme á la palabra de Jehová Dios de Israel, la cual había él hablado por su siervo Jonás hijo de Amittai, profeta que fué de Gath-hepher.
26Por cuanto Jehová miró la muy amarga aflicción de Israel; que no había guardado ni desamparado, ni quien diese ayuda á Israel;
27Y Jehová no había determinado raer el nombre de Israel de debajo del cielo: por tanto, los salvó por mano de Jeroboam hijo de Joas.
28Y lo demás de los hechos de Jeroboam, y todas las cosas que hizo, y su valentía, y todas las guerras que hizo, y cómo restituyó á Judá en Israel á Damasco y á Hamath, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?
29Y durmió Jeroboam con sus padres, los reyes de Israel, y reinó en su lugar Zachârías su hijo.

1In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.
2He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
3And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.
4Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.
5And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.
6But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
7He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.
8Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
9And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.
10Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?
11But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
12And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.
13And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
14And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
15Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
17And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
18And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
19Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
20And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
21And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.
22He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
23In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.
24And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
25He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gath-hepher.
26For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.
27And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
28Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

1In the second year of Joash, son of Joahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah began to reign.

4However the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.
5As soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, he killed his servants who had slain the king his father,
6but the children of the murderers he didn’t put to death, according to that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, as the LORD commanded, saying, “The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall die for his own sin.”

11But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah.
12Judah was defeated by Israel; and each man fled to his tent.
13Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh and came to Jerusalem, then broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
