1Im zweiten Jahre Joas', des Sohnes Joahas', des Königs von Israel, wurde Amazja König, der Sohn Joas', des Königs von Juda.
2Fünfundzwanzig Jahre war er alt, als er König wurde, und er regierte neunundzwanzig Jahre zu Jerusalem; und der Name seiner Mutter war Joaddin, von Jerusalem.
3Und er tat, was recht war in den Augen Jehovas, nur nicht wie sein Vater David; er tat nach allem, was sein Vater Joas getan hatte.
4Doch die Höhen wichen nicht; das Volk opferte und räucherte noch auf den Höhen.
5Und es geschah, als das Königtum in seiner Hand erstarkt war, da erschlug er seine Knechte, die den König, seinen Vater, erschlagen hatten.
6Aber die Söhne der Totschläger tötete er nicht, wie geschrieben steht im Buche des Gesetzes Moses, wo Jehova geboten und gesagt hat: Nicht sollen Väter getötet werden um der Kinder willen, und Kinder sollen nicht getötet werden um der Väter willen, sondern sie sollen ein jeder für seine Sünde getötet werden. -
7Er schlug die Edomiter im Salztal, zehntausend Mann, und nahm Sela ein im Streit, und er gab ihm den Namen Joktheel bis auf diesen Tag.
8Damals sandte Amazja Boten an Joas, den Sohn Joahas', des Sohnes Jehus, den König von Israel, und ließ ihm sagen: Komm, laß uns einander ins Angesicht sehen!
9Da sandte Joas, der König von Israel, zu Amazja, dem König von Juda, und ließ ihm sagen: Der Dornstrauch auf dem Libanon sandte zu der Zeder auf dem Libanon und ließ ihr sagen: Gib meinem Sohne deine Tochter zum Weibe! Da lief das Getier des Feldes, das auf dem Libanon ist, vorüber und zertrat den Dornstrauch.
10Freilich hast du Edom geschlagen, und dein Herz erhebt sich; habe deinen Ruhm und bleibe in deinem Hause! Warum willst du dich denn mit dem Unglück einlassen, daß du fallest, du und Juda mit dir?
11Aber Amazja hörte nicht. Da zog Joas, der König von Israel, herauf; und sie sahen einander ins Angesicht, er und Amazja, der König von Juda, zu Beth-Semes, das zu Juda gehört.
12Und Juda wurde vor Israel geschlagen; und sie flohen, ein jeder nach seinem Zelte.
13Und Joas, der König von Israel, nahm Amazja, den König von Juda, den Sohn Joas', des Sohnes Ahasjas, zu Beth-Semes gefangen. Und er kam nach Jerusalem und machte einen Bruch in der Mauer Jerusalems, vom Tore Ephraim bis an das Ecktor, vierhundert Ellen.
14Und er nahm alles Gold und Silber, und alle Geräte, welche sich im Hause Jehovas und in den Schätzen des Hauses des Königs vorfanden, und Geiseln und kehrte nach Samaria zurück.
15Und das Übrige der Geschichte Joas', was er getan, und seine Macht, und wie er mit Amazja, dem König von Juda, gestritten hat, ist das nicht geschrieben in dem Buche der Chronika der Könige von Israel?
16Und Joas legte sich zu seinen Vätern, und er wurde begraben zu Samaria bei den Königen von Israel. Und Jerobeam, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.
17Und Amazja, der Sohn Joas', der König von Juda, lebte nach dem Tode Joas', des Sohnes Joahas', des Königs von Israel, fünfzehn Jahre.
18Und das Übrige der Geschichte Amazjas, ist das nicht geschrieben in dem Buche der Chronika der Könige von Juda?
19Und sie machten zu Jerusalem eine Verschwörung wider ihn, und er floh nach Lachis; und sie sandten ihm nach bis Lachis und töteten ihn daselbst.
20Und sie luden ihn auf Rosse, und er wurde begraben zu Jerusalem bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt Davids.
21Und das ganze Volk von Juda nahm Asarja, der sechzehn Jahre alt war, und sie machten ihn zum König an seines Vaters Amazja Statt.
22Er baute Elath und brachte es an Juda zurück, nachdem der König sich zu seinen Vätern gelegt hatte.
23Im fünfzehnten Jahre Amazjas, des Sohnes Joas', des Königs von Juda, wurde Jerobeam, der Sohn Joas', des Königs von Israel, König zu Samaria und regierte einundvierzig Jahre.
24Und er tat, was böse war in den Augen Jehovas; er wich nicht von allen Sünden Jerobeams, des Sohnes Nebats, wodurch er Israel sündigen gemacht hatte.
25Er stellte die Grenze Israels wieder her, vom Eingange Hamaths bis an das Meer der Ebene, nach dem Worte Jehovas, des Gottes Israels, das er geredet hatte durch seinen Knecht Jona, den Sohn Amittais, den Propheten, der von Gath-Hepher war.
26Denn Jehova sah, daß das Elend Israels sehr bitter war, und daß dahin war der Gebundene und dahin der Freie, und daß kein Helfer da war für Israel.
27Und Jehova hatte nicht gesagt, daß er den Namen Israels austilgen würde unter dem Himmel hinweg; und so rettete er sie durch die Hand Jerobeams, des Sohnes Joas'.
28Und das Übrige der Geschichte Jerobeams, und alles, was er getan, und seine Macht, wie er gestritten, und wie er Damaskus und Hamath, die Juda gehört hatten, an Israel zurückgebracht hat, ist das nicht geschrieben in dem Buche der Chronika der Könige von Israel?
29Und Jerobeam legte sich zu seinen Vätern, zu den Königen von Israel. Und Sekarja, sein Sohn, ward König an seiner Statt.

1EN el año segundo de Joas hijo de Joachâz rey de Israel, comenzó á reinar Amasías hijo de Joas rey de Judá.
2Cuando comenzó á reinar era de veinticinco años, y veintinueve años reinó en Jerusalem: el nombre de su madre fué Joaddan, de Jerusalem.
3Y él hizo lo recto en ojos de Jehová, aunque no como David su padre: hizo conforme á todas las cosas que había hecho Joas su padre.
4Con todo eso los altos no fueron quitados; que el pueblo aun sacrificaba y quemaba perfumes en los altos.
5Y luego que el reino fué confirmado en su mano, hirió á sus siervos, los que habían muerto al rey su padre.
6Mas no mató á los hijos de los que le mataron, conforme á lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, donde Jehová mandó, diciendo: No matarán á los padres por los hijos, ni á los hijos por los padres: mas cada uno morirá por su pecado.
7Este hirió asimismo diez mil Idumeos en el valle de las Salinas, y tomó á Sela por guerra, y llamóla Jocteel, hasta hoy.
8Entonces Amasías envió embajadores á Joas, hijo de Joachâz hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: Ven, y veámonos de rostro.
9Y Joas rey de Israel envió á Amasías rey de Judá esta respuesta: El cardillo que está en el Líbano envió á decir al cedro que está en el Líbano: Da tu hija por mujer á mi hijo. Y pasaron las bestias fieras que están en el Líbano, y hollaron el cardillo.
10Ciertamente has herido á Edom, y tu corazón te ha envanecido: gloríate pues, mas estáte en tu casa. ¿Y por qué te entrometerás en un mal, para que caigas tú, y Judá contigo?
11Mas Amasías no dió oídos; por lo que subió Joas rey de Israel, y viéronse de rostro él y Amasías rey de Judá, en Beth-semes, que es de Judá.
12Y Judá cayó delante de Israel, y huyeron cada uno á sus estancias.
13Además Joas rey de Israel tomó á Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joas hijo de Ochôzías, en Beth-semes: y vino á Jerusalem, y rompió el muro de Jerusalem desde la puerta de Ephraim hasta la puerta de la esquina, cuatrocientos codos.
14Y tomó todo el oro y la plata, y todos los vasos que fueron hallados en la casa de Jehová, y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, y los hijos en rehenes, y volvióse á Samaria.
15Lo demás de los hechos de Joas que ejecutó, y sus hazañas, y cómo peleó contra Amasías rey de Judá, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?
16Y durmió Joas con sus padres, y fué sepultado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Jeroboam su hijo.
17Y Amasías hijo de Joas rey de Judá, vivió después de la muerte de Joas hijo de Joachâz rey de Israel, quince años.
18Lo demás de los hechos de Amasías, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?
19E hicieron conspiración contra él en Jerusalem, y él huyó á Lachîs; mas enviaron tras él á Lachîs, y allá lo mataron.
20Trajéronlo luego sobre caballos, y sepultáronlo en Jerusalem con sus padres, en la ciudad de David.
21Entonces todo el pueblo de Judá tomó á Azarías, que era de diez y seis años, é hiciéronlo rey en lugar de Amasías su padre.
22Edificó él á Elath, y la restituyó á Judá, después que el rey durmió con sus padres.
23El año quince de Amasías hijo de Joas rey de Judá, comenzó á reinar Jeroboam hijo de Joas sobre Israel en Samaria; y reinó cuarenta y un años.
24E hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová, y no se apartó de todos los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar á Israel.
25El restituyó los términos de Israel desde la entrada de Amath hasta la mar de la llanura, conforme á la palabra de Jehová Dios de Israel, la cual había él hablado por su siervo Jonás hijo de Amittai, profeta que fué de Gath-hepher.
26Por cuanto Jehová miró la muy amarga aflicción de Israel; que no había guardado ni desamparado, ni quien diese ayuda á Israel;
27Y Jehová no había determinado raer el nombre de Israel de debajo del cielo: por tanto, los salvó por mano de Jeroboam hijo de Joas.
28Y lo demás de los hechos de Jeroboam, y todas las cosas que hizo, y su valentía, y todas las guerras que hizo, y cómo restituyó á Judá en Israel á Damasco y á Hamath, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

1In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.
2He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
3And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.
4Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.
5And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.
6But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
7He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.
8Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
9And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.
10Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?
11But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
12And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.
13And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
14And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
15Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
17And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
18And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
19Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
20And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.

22He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

24And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
25He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gath-hepher.
26For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.
27And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
28Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
29And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his stead.

1In the second year of Joash, son of Joahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah began to reign.

4However the high places were not taken away. The people still sacrificed and burned incense in the high places.
5As soon as the kingdom was established in his hand, he killed his servants who had slain the king his father,

11But Amaziah would not listen. So Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth Shemesh, which belongs to Judah.
12Judah was defeated by Israel; and each man fled to his tent.
13Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh and came to Jerusalem, then broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim to the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
