Jotán hijo de Uzías comenzó a reinar en Judá cuando Pecaj hijo de Remalías llevaba dos años reinando en Israel. Jotán tenía veinticinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén durante dieciséis años. Su madre fue Jerusa, hija de Sadoc.
