No vigésimo sétimo ano do reinado de Jeroboão em Israel, Uzias, filho de Amazias, começou a reinar em Judá.

Uzias foi um bom rei e agradou ao Senhor, assim como seu pai Amazias.

E hizo lo recto en ojos de Jehová, conforme á todas las cosas que su padre Amasías había hecho.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah had done;

Mas, da mesma maneira que os reis anteriores, não destruiu os altares idólatras que havia nas colinas onde o povo oferecia sacrifícios e queimava incenso.

O Senhor o feriu com lepra, e ele ficou com essa doença até o dia da sua morte. Por isso morava sozinho numa casa. Seu filho Jotão tomava conta do palácio e governava no lugar do rei.

Menaém destruiu a cidade de Tifsa e os arredores da cidade, porque os seus moradores se recusaram a aceitá-lo como rei. Matou a população inteira e mandou rasgar o ventre de todas as mulheres que estavam grávidas.
