Quando o rei Ezequias ouviu o relatório desses homens, rasgou as suas roupas e se cobriu com um pano de saco e foi ao templo do Senhor a fim de orar.

Y COMO el rey Ezechîas lo oyó, rasgó sus vestidos, y cubrióse de saco, y entróse en la casa de Jehová.

And it came to pass, when king Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.

Depois disse a Eliaquim, administrador do palácio, ao secretário Sebna, e a alguns dos sacerdotes mais antigos, que se cobrissem de pano de saco e fossem à casa do profeta Isaías, filho de Amoz.

Y envió á Eliacim el mayordomo, y á Sebna escriba, y á los ancianos de los sacerdotes, vestidos de sacos á Isaías profeta hijo de Amós,

And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.

Eles lhe disseram: “Assim diz o rei Ezequias: ‘Este é um dia de angústia, de castigo e de humilhação. Estamos como a mulher que está para dar à luz, mas que não tem forças para isso.

Que le dijesen: Así ha dicho Ezechîas: Este día es día de angustia, y de reprensión, y de blasfemia; porque los hijos han venido hasta la rotura, y la que pare no tiene fuerzas.

And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of rebuke, and blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

They said to him, “Hezekiah says, ‘Today is a day of trouble, of rebuke, and of rejection; for the children have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to deliver them.

Mas pode ser que o Senhor, o seu Deus, tenha ouvido as palavras do comandante do campo assírio, a quem o senhor dele, o rei da Assíria, enviou para desafiar o Deus vivo. Que o Senhor, o seu Deus, o repreenda pelas palavras que ouviu. Ó Isaías, suplique a Deus em favor dos poucos de nós que sobrevivemos’ ”.

Quizá oirá Jehová tu Dios todas las palabras de Rabsaces, al cual el rey de los Asirios su señor ha enviado para injuriar al Dios vivo, y á vituperar con palabras, las cuales Jehová tu Dios ha oído: por tanto, eleva oración por las reliquias que aun se hallan.

It may be the LORD thy God will hear all the words of Rab-shakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God; and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the remnant that are left.

It may be the LORD your God will hear all the words of Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master has sent to defy the living God, and will rebuke the words which the LORD your God has heard. Therefore lift up your prayer for the remnant that is left.’”

Quando os oficiais do rei Ezequias levaram a mensagem a Isaías,

Vinieron pues los siervos del rey Ezechîas á Isaías.

ele respondeu: “Digam ao meu senhor que assim diz o Senhor: ‘Não fique preocupado com as palavras que você ouviu, com as blasfêmias que os assírios falaram contra mim.

E Isaías les respondió: Así diréis á vuestro señor: Así ha dicho Jehová; No temas por las palabras que has oído, con las cuales me han blasfemado los siervos del rey de Asiria.

And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say to your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words which thou hast heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

Isaiah said to them, “Tell your master this: ‘The LORD says, “Don’t be afraid of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me.

Eu farei com que o rei da Assíria receba más notícias de casa, e ele resolverá voltar; e o Senhor tomará providências para que ele seja morto à espada quando chegar lá’ ”.

He aquí pondré yo en él un espíritu, y oirá rumor, y volveráse á su tierra: y yo haré que en su tierra caiga á cuchillo.

Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and shall return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.

Behold, I will put a spirit in him, and he will hear news, and will return to his own land. I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.”’”

Então o comandante de campo foi procurar seu rei em Libna, porque recebeu aviso de que o rei tinha saído de Láquis.

Y regresando Rabsaces, halló al rey de Asiria combatiendo á Libna; porque había oído que se había partido de Lachîs.

So Rab-shakeh returned, and found the king of Assyria warring against Libnah: for he had heard that he was departed from Lachish.

Logo depois, o rei Senaqueribe recebeu notícia de que Tiraca, rei etíope do Egito, vinha atacá-lo. Antes de sair para enfrentá-lo, ele mandou este recado ao rei Ezequias:

Y oyó decir de Thiraca rey de Ethiopía: He aquí es salido para hacerte guerra. Entonces volvió él, y envió embajadores á Ezechîas, diciendo:

And when he heard say of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, Behold, he is come out to fight against thee: he sent messengers again unto Hezekiah, saying,

When he heard it said of Tirhakah king of Ethiopia, “Behold, he has come out to fight against you,” he sent messengers again to Hezekiah, saying,

“Digam a Ezequias, rei de Judá: ‘Não se deixe enganar por esse Deus em quem você confia. Não acredite quando ele diz: Jerusalém não cairá nas mãos do rei da Assíria.

Así diréis á Ezechîas rey de Judá: No te engañe tu Dios en quien tú confías, para decir: Jerusalem no será entregada en mano del rey de Asiria.

Thus shall ye speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God in whom thou trustest deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.

“Tell Hezekiah king of Judah this: ‘Don’t let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, Jerusalem will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.

Você bem sabe o que os reis da Assíria fizeram por onde passavam. Eles destruíram tudo, sem deixar nada. Por que você seria tratado de modo diferente?

He aquí tú has oído lo que han hecho los reyes de Asiria á todas las tierras, destruyéndolas; ¿y has tú de escapar?

Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?

Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly. Will you be delivered?

Por acaso os deuses das outras nações as livraram, os deuses de Gozã, Harã, Rezefe e do povo de Éden, na terra de Telassar? Os que foram reis da Assíria antes de mim destruíram todas elas!

¿Libráronlas los dioses de las gentes, que mis padres destruyeron, es á saber, Gozán, y Harán, y Reseph, y los hijos de Edén que estaban en Thalasar?

Have the gods of the nations delivered them which my fathers have destroyed; as Gozan, and Haran, and Rezeph, and the children of Eden which were in Thelasar?

Have the gods of the nations delivered them, which my fathers have destroyed—Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and the children of Eden who were in Telassar?

O que aconteceu ao rei de Hamate e ao rei de Arpade? E onde estão os reis de Sefarvaim, de Hena e de Iva?’ ”

¿Dónde está el rey de Hamath, el rey de Arphad, el rey de la ciudad de Sepharvaim, de Hena, y de Hiva?

Where is the king of Hamath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivah?

Ezequias pegou a carta das mãos dos mensageiros e a leu; então foi ao templo do Senhor e a colocou diante do Senhor.

Y tomó Ezechîas las letras de mano de los embajadores; y después que las hubo leído, subió á la casa de Jehová, y extendiólas Ezechîas delante de Jehová.

And Hezekiah received the letter of the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up into the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD.

Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it. Then Hezekiah went up to the LORD’s house, and spread it before the LORD.

Depois Ezequias fez esta oração: “Ó Senhor, Deus de Israel, que está assentado em seu trono entre os querubins; só o Senhor é o Deus de todos os reinos da terra. O Senhor criou os céus e a terra.

Y oró Ezechîas delante de Jehová, diciendo: Jehová Dios de Israel, que habitas entre los querubines, tú solo eres Dios de todos los reinos de la tierra; tú hiciste el cielo y la tierra.

And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.

Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, “LORD, the God of Israel, enthroned above the cherubim, you are the God, even you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.

Peço-lhe, ó Senhor, que ouça esta oração. Abra os seus olhos, Senhor, e veja o que está acontecendo. Ouça as palavras com as quais Senaqueribe está desafiando o Deus vivo.

Inclina, oh Jehová, tu oído, y oye; abre, oh Jehová, tus ojos, y mira: y oye las palabras de Sennachêrib, que ha enviado á blasfemar al Dios viviente.

LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.

Incline your ear, LORD, and hear. Open your eyes, LORD, and see. Hear the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to defy the living God.

“Senhor, é verdade que os reis da Assíria destruíram todas aquelas nações, tornaram os seus territórios em deserto

Es verdad, oh Jehová, que los reyes de Asiria han destruído las gentes y sus tierras;

Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,

Truly, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands,

e queimaram as suas imagens no fogo. Mas essas imagens não eram deuses de forma alguma. Foram destruídas porque esses deuses eram apenas madeira e pedra feitas por mãos humanas.

Y que pusieron en el fuego á sus dioses, por cuanto ellos no eran dioses, sino obra de manos de hombres, madera ó piedra, y así los destruyeron.

And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.

Agora, Senhor, nosso Deus, salva-nos do poder desse rei, para que todos os reinos da terra saibam que só o Senhor é Deus”.

Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.

Now therefore, LORD our God, save us, I beg you, out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, LORD, are God alone.”

Então Isaías, filho de Amoz, enviou esta mensagem a Ezequias: “Assim diz o Senhor, o Deus de Israel: ‘Ouvi o seu pedido a respeito do rei Senaqueribe, o rei da Assíria!’

Entonces Isaías hijo de Amós envió á decir á Ezechîas: Así ha dicho Jehová, Dios de Israel: Lo que me rogaste acerca de Sennachêrib rey de Asiria, he oído.

Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, That which thou hast prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard.

Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “The LORD, the God of Israel, says ‘You have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria, and I have heard you.

Esta é a resposta do Senhor àquele rei: “A virgem, a filha de Sião, não tem medo de você! A filha de Jerusalém se ri e caçoa de você.

Esta es la palabra que Jehová ha hablado contra él: Hate menospreciado, hate escarnecido la virgen hija de Sión; ha movido su cabeza detrás de ti la hija de Jerusalem.

This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.

This is the word that the LORD has spoken concerning him: ‘The virgin daughter of Zion has despised you and ridiculed you. The daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you.

A quem você desafiou? E contra quem você blasfemou? E contra quem você se dirigiu com tanta arrogância? Contra o Santo de Israel!

¿A quién has injuriado y á quién has blasfemado? ¿y contra quién has hablado alto, y has alzado en alto tus ojos? Contra el Santo de Israel.

Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.

Whom have you defied and blasphemed? Against whom have you exalted your voice and lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel!

Você conta vantagem e insultou o Senhor por meio dos seus mensageiros, dizendo: ‘Meus carros conquistaram as mais altas montanhas; subiram até os picos do Líbano. Derrubei os cedros mais altos e os ciprestes mais bonitos. Cheguei a conquistar os lugares mais distantes e as florestas mais lindas.

Por mano de tus mensajeros has proferido injuria contra el Señor, y has dicho: Con la multitud de mis carros he subido á las cumbres de los montes, á las cuestas del Líbano; y cortaré sus altos cedros, sus hayas escogidas; y entraré á la morada de su término, al monte de su Carmel.

By thy messengers thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his Carmel.

By your messengers, you have defied the Lord, and have said, “With the multitude of my chariots, I have come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon, and I will cut down its tall cedars and its choice cypress trees; and I will enter into his farthest lodging place, the forest of his fruitful field.

Tenho bebido água dos muitos poços que cavei, e sequei o rio Nilo com a sola dos pés dos meus soldados!’

Yo he cavado y bebido las aguas ajenas, y he secado con las plantas de mis pies todos los ríos de lugares bloqueados.

I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.

I have dug and drunk strange waters, and I will dry up all the rivers of Egypt with the sole of my feet.”

“Por que não reconhece que há muito tempo, eu, o Senhor, decretei que você faria essas coisas, que você deixaria cidades fortificadas em ruínas?

¿Nunca has oído que mucho tiempo ha yo lo hice, y de días antiguos lo he formado? Y ahora lo he hecho venir, y fué para desolación de ciudades fuertes en montones de ruinas.

Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.

Haven’t you heard how I have done it long ago, and formed it of ancient times? Now I have brought it to pass, that it should be yours to lay waste fortified cities into ruinous heaps.

Por isso, é claro, as nações que você conquistou não tinham poder contra você! Elas eram como o capim nos campos, que se enruga quando o sol é muito quente, e como o cereal que fica queimado antes de amadurecer.

Y sus moradores, cortos de manos, quebrantados y confusos, fueron cual hierba del campo, como legumbre verde, y heno de los tejados, que antes que venga á madurez es seco.

Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.

Therefore their inhabitants had little power. They were dismayed and confounded. They were like the grass of the field and like the green herb, like the grass on the housetops and like grain blasted before it has grown up.

Eu, porém, sei tudo a seu respeito. Conheço todos os seus planos, e sei para onde vai e quando retorna; e também sei o quanto me odeia.

Yo he sabido tu asentarte, tu salir y tu entrar, y tu furor contra mí.

But I know thy abode, and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.

But I know your sitting down, your going out, your coming in, and your raging against me.

E por causa do seu furor e arrogância contra mim, vou pôr um anzol no seu nariz e um freio na sua boca, e vou fazer você voltar pelo mesmo caminho por onde veio”.

Por cuanto te has airado contra mí, y tu estruendo ha subido á mis oídos, yo por tanto pondré mi anzuelo en tus narices, y mi bocado en tus labios, y te haré volver por el camino por donde viniste.

Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.

Because of your raging against me, and because your arrogance has come up into my ears, therefore I will put my hook in your nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came.’

Depois, Isaías deu ao rei Ezequias esta mensagem do Senhor: “Esta é a prova de que vou fazer conforme prometi: Este ano e no próximo, o meu povo comerá o trigo que nasce no campo, sem que ninguém o tenha plantado. Mas no terceiro ano vocês vão semear e colher; plantem vinhas e comam do seu fruto.

Y esto te será por señal Ezechîas: Este año comerás lo que nacerá de suyo, y el segundo año lo que nacerá de suyo; y el tercer año haréis sementera, y segaréis, y plantaréis viñas, y comeréis el fruto de ellas.

And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof.

“This will be the sign to you: This year, you will eat that which grows of itself, and in the second year that which springs from that; and in the third year sow and reap, and plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

O meu povo de Judá, aqueles de vocês que escaparam da destruição causada pelo cerco ainda se tornarão uma grande nação; vocês lançarão raízes profundas no solo e darão muitos frutos.

Y lo que hubiere escapado, lo que habrá quedado de la casa de Judá, tornará á echar raíz abajo, y hará fruto arriba.

And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.

The remnant that has escaped of the house of Judah will again take root downward, and bear fruit upward.

Uma parte restante do meu povo sairá de Jerusalém, e do monte Sião. O Senhor dos Exércitos vai cuidar para que isto aconteça.

Porque saldrán de Jerusalem reliquias, y los que escaparán, del monte de Sión: el celo de Jehová de los ejércitos hará esto.

For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.

For out of Jerusalem a remnant will go out, and out of Mount Zion those who shall escape. The LORD’s zeal will perform this.

“Portanto, assim diz o Senhor a respeito do rei da Assíria: ‘Ele não entrará nesta cidade. Ele não a enfrentará com escudo, nem construirá uma rampa para subir nos muros, nem mesmo atirará uma flecha contra ela.

Por tanto, Jehová dice así del rey de Asiria: No entrará en esta ciudad, ni echará saeta en ella; ni vendrá delante de ella escudo, ni será echado contra ella baluarte.

Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria, He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it.

“Therefore the LORD says concerning the king of Assyria, ‘He will not come to this city, nor shoot an arrow there. He will not come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it.

Ele voltará pela mesma estrada por onde veio. Ele não invadirá a cidade’, diz o Senhor.

Por el camino que vino se volverá, y no entrará en esta ciudad, dice Jehová.

By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.

He will return the same way that he came, and he will not come to this city,’ says the LORD.

Eu defenderei e salvarei esta cidade por amor do meu nome e por amor do meu servo Davi”.

Porque yo ampararé á esta ciudad para salvarla, por amor de mí, y por amor de David mi siervo.

For I will defend this city, to save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.

‘For I will defend this city to save it, for my own sake and for my servant David’s sake.’”

Naquela mesma noite, o anjo do Senhor saiu e matou cento e oitenta e cinco mil soldados no acampamento assírio e, quando amanheceu o dia, os que não tinham morrido puderam ver os corpos dos companheiros espalhados por toda parte.

Y aconteció que la misma noche salió el ángel de Jehová, é hirió en el campo de los Asirios ciento ochenta y cinco mil; y como se levantaron por la mañana, he aquí los cuerpos de los muertos.

And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.

That night, the LORD’s angel went out and struck one hundred eighty-five thousand in the camp of the Assyrians. When men arose early in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies.

Então o rei da Assíria, Senaqueribe, foi embora para sempre. Voltou para Nínive e ficou ali.

Entonces Sennachêrib, rey de Asiria se partió, y se fué y tornó á Nínive, donde se estuvo.

So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

So Sennacherib king of Assyria departed, went home, and lived at Nineveh.

E aconteceu que enquanto ele adorava no templo do seu deus Nisroque, seus filhos Adrameleque e Sarezer o assassinaram à espada. Eles fugiram para a terra de Ararate, e seu filho Esar-Hadom veio a ser o novo rei.

Y aconteció que, estando él adorando en el templo de Nisroch su dios, Adramelech y Saresar sus hijos lo hirieron á cuchillo; y huyéronse á tierra de Ararat. Y reinó en su lugar Esar-hadón su hijo.

And it came to pass, as he was worshipping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote him with the sword: and they escaped into the land of Armenia. And Esar-haddon his son reigned in his stead.

As he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. Esar Haddon his son reigned in his place.
