Als sie nun dem König Bericht erstattet hatten, sandte der König Boten aus, daß sie alle Ältesten von Juda und Jerusalem bei ihm versammelten.

Gleichwohl ließ der HERR von der gewaltigen Glut seines Zornes nicht ab, weil sein Zorn einmal gegen Juda entbrannt war wegen all der Ärgernisse, durch die Manasse ihn erbittert hatte.

Das Silber und das Gold lieferte Jojakim dem Pharao ab, mußte jedoch seinem Lande eine besondere Steuer auferlegen, um das Geld nach der Forderung des Pharaos zahlen zu können: je nachdem ein jeder abgeschätzt worden war, trieb er das Silber und das Gold von der Bevölkerung des Landes ein, um es dann dem Pharao Necho zu übergeben.
