Recogió la túnica de Elías, regresó a la orilla del río Jordán, y golpeó las aguas con ella, al tiempo que exclamaba: «¿Dónde está el Dios de Elías?». Apenas golpeó las aguas, estas se separaron, y Eliseo pudo cruzar el río en seco.

Alzó luego el manto de Elías que se le había caído, y volvió, y paróse á la orilla del Jordán.

He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
