1Und es geschah, als Jehova den Elia im Sturmwinde gen Himmel auffahren ließ, da gingen Elia und Elisa von Gilgal hinweg.
2Und Elia sprach zu Elisa: Bleibe doch hier; denn Jehova hat mich bis nach Bethel gesandt. Und Elisa sprach: So wahr Jehova lebt und deine Seele lebt, wenn ich dich verlasse! Und sie gingen nach Bethel hinab.
3Da kamen die Söhne der Propheten, die in Bethel waren, zu Elisa heraus und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du, daß Jehova heute deinen Herrn über deinem Haupte hinwegnehmen wird? Und er sprach: Auch ich weiß es; schweiget!
4Und Elia sprach zu ihm: Elisa, bleibe doch hier; denn Jehova hat mich nach Jericho gesandt. Aber er sprach: So wahr Jehova lebt und deine Seele lebt, wenn ich dich verlasse! Und sie kamen nach Jericho.
5Da traten die Söhne der Propheten, die in Jericho waren, zu Elisa und sprachen zu ihm: Weißt du, daß Jehova heute deinen Herrn über deinem Haupte hinwegnehmen wird? Und er sprach: Auch ich weiß es; schweiget!
6Und Elia sprach zu ihm: Bleibe doch hier; denn Jehova hat mich an den Jordan gesandt. Aber er sprach: So wahr Jehova lebt und deine Seele lebt, wenn ich dich verlasse! Und so gingen sie beide miteinander.
7Und fünfzig Mann von den Söhnen der Propheten gingen hin und stellten sich gegenüber von ferne; und sie beide traten an den Jordan.
8Da nahm Elia seinen Mantel und wickelte ihn zusammen und schlug auf das Wasser; und es zerteilte sich dahin und dorthin, und sie gingen beide hinüber auf dem Trockenen.
9Und es geschah, als sie hinübergegangen waren, da sprach Elia zu Elisa: Begehre, was ich dir tun soll, ehe ich von dir genommen werde. Und Elisa sprach: So möge mir doch ein zwiefaches Teil von deinem Geiste werden!
10Und er sprach: Du hast Schweres begehrt! Wenn du mich sehen wirst, wann ich von dir genommen werde, so soll dir also geschehen; wenn aber nicht, so wird es nicht geschehen.
11Und es geschah, während sie gingen und im Gehen redeten, siehe da, ein Wagen von Feuer und Rosse von Feuer, welche sie beide voneinander trennten; und Elia fuhr im Sturmwind auf gen Himmel.
12Und Elisa sah es und schrie: Mein Vater, mein Vater! Wagen Israels und seine Reiter! Und er sah ihn nicht mehr. Da faßte er seine Kleider und zerriß sie in zwei Stücke.
13Und er hob den Mantel des Elia auf, der von ihm herabgefallen war, und kehrte um und trat an das Ufer des Jordan.
14Und er nahm den Mantel des Elia, der von ihm herabgefallen war, und schlug auf das Wasser und sprach: Wo ist Jehova, der Gott des Elia? Auch er schlug auf das Wasser, und es zerteilte sich dahin und dorthin; und Elisa ging hinüber.
15Als nun die Söhne der Propheten, die gegenüber in Jericho waren, ihn sahen, da sprachen sie: Der Geist des Elia ruht auf Elisa! Und sie kamen ihm entgegen und beugten sich vor ihm zur Erde nieder,
16und sie sprachen zu ihm: Siehe doch, es sind bei deinen Knechten fünfzig tapfere Männer; mögen sie doch gehen und deinen Herrn suchen, ob nicht etwa der Geist Jehovas ihn weggetragen und ihn auf einen der Berge oder in eins der Täler geworfen hat. Aber er sprach: Sendet nicht.
17Und sie drangen in ihn, bis er sich schämte. Da sprach er: Sendet! Und so sandten sie fünfzig Mann; und sie suchten drei Tage lang, aber sie fanden ihn nicht.
18Und sie kehrten zu ihm zurück (er verweilte aber noch in Jericho); und er sprach zu ihnen: Habe ich euch nicht gesagt: Gehet nicht hin?
19Und die Männer der Stadt sprachen zu Elisa: Siehe doch, die Lage der Stadt ist gut, wie mein Herr sieht, aber das Wasser ist schlecht, und das Land ist unfruchtbar.
20Da sprach er: Holet mir eine neue Schale, und tut Salz darein! Und sie holten sie ihm.
21Und er ging hinaus zu der Quelle des Wassers, und warf das Salz hinein und sprach: So spricht Jehova: Ich habe dieses Wasser gesund gemacht; es wird weder Tod noch Unfruchtbarkeit mehr daraus entstehen.
22Und das Wasser wurde gesund bis auf diesen Tag, nach dem Worte, das Elisa geredet hatte.
23Und er ging von dannen hinauf nach Bethel; und als er auf dem Wege hinaufging, da kamen kleine Knaben aus der Stadt heraus, und verspotteten ihn und sprachen zu ihm: Komm herauf, Kahlkopf! Komm herauf, Kahlkopf!
24Und er wandte sich um und sah sie an und fluchte ihnen im Namen Jehovas. Da kamen zwei Bären aus dem Walde und zerrissen von ihnen zweiundvierzig Kinder.
25Und er ging von dannen nach dem Berge Karmel; und von dort kehrte er nach Samaria zurück.

1Y ACONTECIÓ que, cuando quiso Jehová alzar á Elías en un torbellino al cielo, Elías venía con Eliseo de Gilgal.
2Y dijo Elías á Eliseo: Quédate ahora aquí, porque Jehová me ha enviado á Beth-el. Y Eliseo dijo: Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Descendieron pues á Beth-el.
3Y saliendo á Eliseo los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Beth-el, dijéronle: ¿Sabes como Jehová quitará hoy á tu señor de tu cabeza? Y él dijo: Sí, yo lo sé; callad.
4Y Elías le volvió á decir: Eliseo, quédate aquí ahora, porque Jehová me ha enviado á Jericó. Y él dijo: Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Vinieron pues á Jericó.
5Y llegáronse á Eliseo los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Jericó, y dijéronle: ¿Sabes cómo Jehová quitará hoy á tu señor de tu cabeza? Y él respondió: Sí, yo lo sé; callad.
6Y Elías le dijo: Ruégote que te quedes aquí, porque Jehová me ha enviado al Jordán. Y él dijo: Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Fueron pues ambos á dos.
7Y vinieron cincuenta varones de los hijos de los profetas, y paráronse enfrente á lo lejos: y ellos dos se pararon junto al Jordán.
8Tomando entonces Elías su manto, doblólo, é hirió las aguas, las cuales se apartaron á uno y á otro lado, y pasaron ambos en seco.
9Y como hubieron pasado, Elías dijo á Eliseo: Pide lo que quieres que haga por ti, antes que sea quitado de contigo. Y dijo Eliseo: Ruégote que las dos partes de tu espíritu sean sobre mí.
10Y él le dijo: Cosa difícil has pedido. Si me vieres cuando fuere quitado de ti, te será así hecho; mas si no, no.
11Y aconteció que, yendo ellos hablando, he aquí, un carro de fuego con caballos de fuego apartó á los dos: y Elías subió al cielo en un torbellino.
12Y viéndolo Eliseo, clamaba: ¡Padre mío, padre mío, carro de Israel y su gente de á caballo! Y nunca más le vió, y trabando de sus vestidos, rompiólos en dos partes.
13Alzó luego el manto de Elías que se le había caído, y volvió, y paróse á la orilla del Jordán.
14Y tomando el manto de Elías que se le había caído, hirió las aguas, y dijo: ¿Dónde está Jehová, el Dios de Elías? Y así que hubo del mismo modo herido las aguas, apartáronse á uno y á otro lado, y pasó Eliseo.
15Y viéndole los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Jericó de la otra parte, dijeron: El espíritu de Elías reposó sobre Eliseo. Y viniéronle á recibir, é inclináronse á él hasta la tierra.
16Y dijéronle: He aquí hay con tus siervos cincuenta varones fuertes: vayan ahora y busquen á tu señor; quizá lo ha levantado el espíritu de Jehová, y lo ha echado en algún monte ó en algún valle. Y él les dijo: No enviéis.
17Mas ellos le importunaron, hasta que avergonzándose dijo: Enviad. Entonces ellos enviaron cincuenta hombres, los cuales lo buscaron tres días, mas no lo hallaron.
18Y cuando volvieron á él, que se había quedado en Jericó, él les dijo: ¿No os dije yo que no fueseis?
19Y los hombres de la ciudad dijeron á Eliseo: He aquí el asiento de esta ciudad es bueno, como mi señor ve; mas las aguas son malas, y la tierra enferma.
20Entonces él dijo: Traedme una botija nueva, y poned en ella sal. Y trajéronsela.
21Y saliendo él á los manaderos de las aguas, echó dentro la sal, y dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Yo sané estas aguas, y no habrá más en ellas muerte ni enfermedad.
22Y fueron sanas las aguas hasta hoy, conforme á la palabra que habló Eliseo.
23Después subió de allí á Beth-el; y subiendo por el camino, salieron los muchachos de la ciudad, y se burlaban de él, diciendo: ¡Calvo, sube! ¡calvo, sube!
24Y mirando él atrás, viólos, y maldíjolos en el nombre de Jehová. Y salieron dos osos del monte, y despedazaron de ellos cuarenta y dos muchachos.
25De allí fué al monte de Carmelo, y de allí volvió á Samaria.

1And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
2And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Beth-el. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Beth-el.
3And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth-el came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
4And Elijah said unto him, Elisha, tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Jericho. And he said, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they came to Jericho.
5And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.

7And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.
8And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
9And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
10And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
11And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
12And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
13He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;
14And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
15And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
16And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.
17And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.
18And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?
19And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.
20And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
21And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
22So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.
23And he went up from thence unto Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
24And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
25And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.

1When the LORD was about to take Elijah up by a whirlwind into heaven, Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.
2Elijah said to Elisha, “Please wait here, for the LORD has sent me as far as Bethel.” Elisha said, “As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.
3The sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from over you today?” He said, “Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”
4Elijah said to him, “Elisha, please wait here, for the LORD has sent me to Jericho.” He said, “As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho.
5The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came near to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from over you today?” He answered, “Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”
6Elijah said to him, “Please wait here, for the LORD has sent me to the Jordan.” He said, “As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” Then they both went on.

9When they had gone over, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be on me.”
10He said, “You have asked a hard thing. If you see me when I am taken from you, it will be so for you; but if not, it will not be so.”
11As they continued on and talked, behold, a chariot of fire and horses of fire separated them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
12Elisha saw it, and he cried, “My father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!” He saw him no more. Then he took hold of his own clothes and tore them in two pieces.
13He also took up Elijah’s mantle that fell from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan.
14He took Elijah’s mantle that fell from him, and struck the waters, and said, “Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah?” When he also had struck the waters, they were divided apart, and Elisha went over.
15When the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho facing him saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
16They said to him, “See now, there are with your servants fifty strong men. Please let them go and seek your master. Perhaps the LORD’s Spirit has taken him up, and put him on some mountain or into some valley.” He said, “Don’t send them.”
17When they urged him until he was ashamed, he said, “Send them.” Therefore they sent fifty men; and they searched for three days, but didn’t find him.
18They came back to him while he stayed at Jericho; and he said to them, “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t go’?”
19The men of the city said to Elisha, “Behold, please, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the land is barren.”
20He said, “Bring me a new jar, and put salt in it.” Then they brought it to him.
21He went out to the spring of the waters, and threw salt into it, and said, “The LORD says, ‘I have healed these waters. There shall not be from there any more death or barren wasteland.’”
22So the waters were healed to this day, according to Elisha’s word which he spoke.
23He went up from there to Bethel. As he was going up by the way, some youths came out of the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldy! Go up, you baldy!”
24He looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the LORD’s name. Then two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of those youths.
25He went from there to Mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.
