Y ACONTECIÓ que, cuando quiso Jehová alzar á Elías en un torbellino al cielo, Elías venía con Eliseo de Gilgal.
And it came to pass, when the LORD would take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, that Elijah went with Elisha from Gilgal.

Y dijo Elías a Eliseo: Quédate aquí, porque el Señor me envía a Betel. Al cual respondió Eliseo: Te juro por el Señor y por tu vida, que no te dejaré. Llegados que fueron a Betel,

And Elijah said unto Elisha, Tarry here, I pray thee; for the LORD hath sent me to Beth-el. And Elisha said unto him, As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee. So they went down to Beth-el.
Elijah said to Elisha, “Please wait here, for the LORD has sent me as far as Bethel.” Elisha said, “As the LORD lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So they went down to Bethel.
fueron los hijos o discípulos de los profetas que estaban allí a encontrar a Eliseo y le dijeron: ¿No sabes tú cómo hoy se llevará el Señor a tu amo? Sí que lo sé, respondió él; callad.
Y saliendo á Eliseo los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Beth-el, dijéronle: ¿Sabes como Jehová quitará hoy á tu señor de tu cabeza? Y él dijo: Sí, yo lo sé; callad.
And the sons of the prophets that were at Beth-el came forth to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
The sons of the prophets who were at Bethel came out to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from over you today?” He said, “Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”
Dijo nuevamente Elías a Eliseo: Quédate aquí, porque el Señor me envía hasta Jericó . Te juro por el Señor y por tu vida, le respondió, que no te dejaré. Así que llegaron a Jericó ,
Y Elías le volvió á decir: Eliseo, quédate aquí ahora, porque Jehová me ha enviado á Jericó. Y él dijo: Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Vinieron pues á Jericó.

se acercaron a Eliseo los hijos de los profetas que moraban allí y le dijeron: ¿No sabes tú que hoy el Señor se llevará a tu amo? Sí, lo sé, respondió él; pero callad.
Y llegáronse á Eliseo los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Jericó, y dijéronle: ¿Sabes cómo Jehová quitará hoy á tu señor de tu cabeza? Y él respondió: Sí, yo lo sé; callad.
And the sons of the prophets that were at Jericho came to Elisha, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the LORD will take away thy master from thy head to day? And he answered, Yea, I know it; hold ye your peace.
The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho came near to Elisha, and said to him, “Do you know that the LORD will take away your master from over you today?” He answered, “Yes, I know it. Hold your peace.”
Le dijo otra vez Elías: Quédate aquí, porque el Señor me envía hasta el Jordán. Le replicó Eliseo: Te juro por el Señor y por tu vida que no me apartaré de ti. Marcharon, pues, ambos;
Y Elías le dijo: Ruégote que te quedes aquí, porque Jehová me ha enviado al Jordán. Y él dijo: Vive Jehová, y vive tu alma, que no te dejaré. Fueron pues ambos á dos.

y los fueron siguiendo cincuenta de los hijos de los profetas, los cuales se detuvieron a lo lejos en frente de ellos, mientras que los dos se pararon en la orilla del Jordán.
Y vinieron cincuenta varones de los hijos de los profetas, y paráronse enfrente á lo lejos: y ellos dos se pararon junto al Jordán.
And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.

Entonces Elías se quitó el manto, y lo dobló, e hirió con él las aguas, las cuales se dividieron a uno y otro lado y pasaron los dos a pie enjuto.
Tomando entonces Elías su manto, doblólo, é hirió las aguas, las cuales se apartaron á uno y á otro lado, y pasaron ambos en seco.
And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.

Así que hubieron pasado, dijo Elías a Eliseo: Pide lo que quieras que yo haga por ti, antes que sea de ti separado. Y Eliseo dijo: Pido que sea duplicado en mí tu espíritu.
Y como hubieron pasado, Elías dijo á Eliseo: Pide lo que quieres que haga por ti, antes que sea quitado de contigo. Y dijo Eliseo: Ruégote que las dos partes de tu espíritu sean sobre mí.
And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
When they had gone over, Elijah said to Elisha, “Ask what I shall do for you, before I am taken from you.” Elisha said, “Please let a double portion of your spirit be on me.”
Contestó Elías: Cosa difícil es la que has pedido. No obstante, si tú me vieres al tiempo que sea arrebatado de tu lado, tendrás lo que has pedido; mas si no me vieres, no lo tendrás.
Y él le dijo: Cosa difícil has pedido. Si me vieres cuando fuere quitado de ti, te será así hecho; mas si no, no.
And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.
He said, “You have asked a hard thing. If you see me when I am taken from you, it will be so for you; but if not, it will not be so.”
Así proseguían su camino andando y hablando entre sí, cuando he aquí que un carro de fuego, con caballos también de fuego separó de repente al uno del otro, y Elías subió al cielo en un torbellino.
Y aconteció que, yendo ellos hablando, he aquí, un carro de fuego con caballos de fuego apartó á los dos: y Elías subió al cielo en un torbellino.
And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

Estaba Eliseo mirándolo, y gritaba: Padre mío, Padre mío, carro armado de Israel, y conductor suyo. Y ya no lo volvió a ver más. Entonces asió sus vestidos, y los rasgó en dos partes en señal de dolor.
Y viéndolo Eliseo, clamaba: ¡Padre mío, padre mío, carro de Israel y su gente de á caballo! Y nunca más le vió, y trabando de sus vestidos, rompiólos en dos partes.
And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.

Recogió después el manto, que se le había caído a Elías, y volviéndose se paró en la ribera del Jordán;
Alzó luego el manto de Elías que se le había caído, y volvió, y paróse á la orilla del Jordán.
He took up also the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and went back, and stood by the bank of Jordan;

y con el manto que se le cayera a Elías hirió las aguas, las cuales no se dividieron. Por lo que dijo: ¿Dónde está ahora el Dios de Elías? Hirió nuevamente las aguas, y se dividieron a un lado y a otro; con lo que pasó Eliseo.
Y tomando el manto de Elías que se le había caído, hirió las aguas, y dijo: ¿Dónde está Jehová, el Dios de Elías? Y así que hubo del mismo modo herido las aguas, apartáronse á uno y á otro lado, y pasó Eliseo.
And he took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him, and smote the waters, and said, Where is the LORD God of Elijah? and when he also had smitten the waters, they parted hither and thither: and Elisha went over.
He took Elijah’s mantle that fell from him, and struck the waters, and said, “Where is the LORD, the God of Elijah?” When he also had struck the waters, they were divided apart, and Elisha went over.
Así que vieron esto los hijos de los profetas, que habían venido de Jericó , y estaban en la orilla opuesta, dijeron: El espíritu de Elías ha reposado sobre Eliseo, y saliéndole al encuentro, le hicieron profunda reverencia postrados en tierra,
Y viéndole los hijos de los profetas que estaban en Jericó de la otra parte, dijeron: El espíritu de Elías reposó sobre Eliseo. Y viniéronle á recibir, é inclináronse á él hasta la tierra.
And when the sons of the prophets which were to view at Jericho saw him, they said, The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha. And they came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
When the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho facing him saw him, they said, “The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” They came to meet him, and bowed themselves to the ground before him.
y le dijeron: Aquí hay entre tus siervos cincuenta hombres robustos que pueden ir en busca de tu amo, no sea que el espíritu del Señor lo haya arrebatado y arrojado sobre algún monte o en algún valle. Respondió Eliseo: No tenéis que enviarlos.
Y dijéronle: He aquí hay con tus siervos cincuenta varones fuertes: vayan ahora y busquen á tu señor; quizá lo ha levantado el espíritu de Jehová, y lo ha echado en algún monte ó en algún valle. Y él les dijo: No enviéis.
And they said unto him, Behold now, there be with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest peradventure the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.
They said to him, “See now, there are with your servants fifty strong men. Please let them go and seek your master. Perhaps the LORD’s Spirit has taken him up, and put him on some mountain or into some valley.” He said, “Don’t send them.”
Tanto le importunaron que al cabo condescendió, y les dijo: Pues bien, enviadlos. Enviaron, pues cincuenta hombres, que habiéndole buscado tres días, no lo hallaron.
Mas ellos le importunaron, hasta que avergonzándose dijo: Enviad. Entonces ellos enviaron cincuenta hombres, los cuales lo buscaron tres días, mas no lo hallaron.
And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they sought three days, but found him not.
When they urged him until he was ashamed, he said, “Send them.” Therefore they sent fifty men; and they searched for three days, but didn’t find him.
Por lo que se volvieron a Eliseo, que moraba en Jericó , el cual les dijo: ¿No os respondí yo: No tenéis que enviarlos?
Y cuando volvieron á él, que se había quedado en Jericó, él les dijo: ¿No os dije yo que no fueseis?
And when they came again to him, (for he tarried at Jericho,) he said unto them, Did I not say unto you, Go not?
They came back to him while he stayed at Jericho; and he said to them, “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t go’?”
Por este tiempo dijeron también a Eliseo los vecinos de la ciudad: Bien ves que la situación de esta ciudad es bellísima, como tú mismo, señor, lo estás conociendo; pero las aguas son muy malas y la tierra estéril.
Y los hombres de la ciudad dijeron á Eliseo: He aquí el asiento de esta ciudad es bueno, como mi señor ve; mas las aguas son malas, y la tierra enferma.
And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.
The men of the city said to Elisha, “Behold, please, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees; but the water is bad, and the land is barren.”
A lo que les contestó: Traedme una vasija nueva, y echad sal en ella. Habiéndosela traído,
Entonces él dijo: Traedme una botija nueva, y poned en ella sal. Y trajéronsela.
And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
He said, “Bring me a new jar, and put salt in it.” Then they brought it to him.
se fue al manantial de las aguas, echó en él la sal, y dijo: Esto dice el Señor: Yo he hecho saludables estas aguas, y nunca más serán causa de muerte ni de esterilidad.
Y saliendo él á los manaderos de las aguas, echó dentro la sal, y dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Yo sané estas aguas, y no habrá más en ellas muerte ni enfermedad.
And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land.
He went out to the spring of the waters, and threw salt into it, and said, “The LORD says, ‘I have healed these waters. There shall not be from there any more death or barren wasteland.’”
Desde entonces quedaron saludables las aguas hasta el día de hoy, conforme a la palabra pronunciada por Eliseo.
Y fueron sanas las aguas hasta hoy, conforme á la palabra que habló Eliseo.
So the waters were healed unto this day, according to the saying of Elisha which he spake.

De aquí pasó a Betel, y cuando iba subiendo por el camino, salieron de la ciudad unos muchachos, y le motejaban, diciendo: Sube, oh calvo: calvo, sube.
Después subió de allí á Beth-el; y subiendo por el camino, salieron los muchachos de la ciudad, y se burlaban de él, diciendo: ¡Calvo, sube! ¡calvo, sube!
And he went up from thence unto Beth-el: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
He went up from there to Bethel. As he was going up by the way, some youths came out of the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldy! Go up, you baldy!”
Eliseo, volviéndose hacia ellos, los miró, y maldijo en nombre del Señor; y saliendo dos osos del bosque, despedazaron a cuarenta y dos de aquellos muchachos.
Y mirando él atrás, viólos, y maldíjolos en el nombre de Jehová. Y salieron dos osos del monte, y despedazaron de ellos cuarenta y dos muchachos.
And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
He looked behind him and saw them, and cursed them in the LORD’s name. Then two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of those youths.
Partió en seguida Eliseo al monte Carmelo, desde donde se volvió a Samaria.
De allí fué al monte de Carmelo, y de allí volvió á Samaria.
And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
