Joram, hijo de Acab, se convirtió en rey de Israel en Samaria en el año dieciocho del gobierno de Josafat, rey de Judá; y fue rey por doce años.

Y JORAM hijo de Achâb comenzó á reinar en Samaria sobre Israel el año dieciocho de Josaphat rey de Judá; y reinó doce años.

Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.

Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israel in Samaria in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.

Hizo lo malo ante los ojos del Señor; pero no como su padre y su madre, porque quitó la columna de piedra de Baal que su padre había hecho.

E hizo lo malo en ojos de Jehová, aunque no como su padre y su madre; porque quitó las estatuas de Baal que su padre había hecho.

And he wrought evil in the sight of the LORD; but not like his father, and like his mother: for he put away the image of Baal that his father had made.

He did that which was evil in the LORD’s sight, but not like his father and like his mother, for he put away the pillar of Baal that his father had made.

Pero aún así él cometió los mismos pecados que Jeroboam, el hijo de Nebat, e hizo que Israel pecara y no se apartó de ellos.

Mas allegóse á los pecados de Jeroboam, hijo de Nabat, que hizo pecar á Israel; y no se apartó de ellos.

Nevertheless he cleaved unto the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, which made Israel to sin; he departed not therefrom.

Nevertheless he held to the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, with which he made Israel to sin. He didn’t depart from them.

Mesa, rey de Moab, era un criador de ovejas; y pagaba regularmente al rey de Israel la lana de cien mil corderos y cien mil ovejas.

Entonces Mesa rey de Moab era propietario de ganados, y pagaba al rey de Israel cien mil corderos y cien mil carneros con sus vellones.

And Mesha king of Moab was a sheepmaster, and rendered unto the king of Israel an hundred thousand lambs, and an hundred thousand rams, with the wool.

Now Mesha king of Moab was a sheep breeder; and he supplied the king of Israel with one hundred thousand lambs and the wool of one hundred thousand rams.

Pero cuando Acab murió, el rey de Moab se rebeló contra la autoridad del rey de Israel.

But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.

En ese momento, el rey Joram salió de Samaria y reunió a todo Israel en orden de combate.

Y salió entonces de Samaria el rey Joram, é inspeccionó á todo Israel.

And king Jehoram went out of Samaria the same time, and numbered all Israel.

Entonces envió a Josafat, rey de Judá, diciendo: El rey de Moab se ha rebelado contra mi autoridad: ¿irás conmigo a hacer la guerra a Moab? Y él dijo: Iré contigo; yo soy como tú, mi pueblo como tu pueblo y mis caballos como tus caballos.

Y fué y envió á decir á Josaphat rey de Judá: El rey de Moab se ha rebelado contra mí: ¿irás tú conmigo á la guerra contra Moab? Y él respondió: Iré, porque como yo, así tú; como mi pueblo, así tu pueblo; como mis caballos, así también tus caballos.

And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, The king of Moab hath rebelled against me: wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? And he said, I will go up: I am as thou art, my people as thy people, and my horses as thy horses.

He went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, “The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me against Moab to battle?” He said, “I will go up. I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”

Y él dijo: ¿Por dónde vamos? Y él respondió en respuesta: Por el desierto de Edom.

Y dijo: ¿Por qué camino iremos? Y él respondió: Por el camino del desierto de Idumea.

And he said, Which way shall we go up? And he answered, The way through the wilderness of Edom.

Then he said, “Which way shall we go up?” Jehoram answered, “The way of the wilderness of Edom.”

Entonces el rey de Israel fue con el rey de Judá y con el rey de Edom durante siete días, y no había agua para el ejército ni para las bestias que tenían con ellos.

Partieron pues el rey de Israel, y el rey de Judá, y el rey de Idumea; y como anduvieron rodeando por el desierto siete días de camino, faltóles el agua para el ejército, y para las bestias que los seguían.

So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom: and they fetched a compass of seven days’ journey: and there was no water for the host, and for the cattle that followed them.

So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom, and they marched for seven days along a circuitous route. There was no water for the army or for the animals that followed them.

Y el rey de Israel dijo: Aquí hay problemas: porque el Señor ha reunido a estos tres reyes para entregarlos en las manos de Moab.

Entonces el rey de Israel dijo: ¡Ah! que ha llamado Jehová estos tres reyes para entregarlos en manos de los Moabitas.

And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab!

The king of Israel said, “Alas! For the LORD has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”

Pero Josafat dijo: ¿No hay profeta del Señor aquí, a través de quien podamos obtener instrucciones del Señor? Y uno de los hombres del rey de Israel dijo en respuesta: Eliseo, hijo de Safat, está aquí y fue el siervo de Elías.

Mas Josaphat dijo: ¿No hay aquí profeta de Jehová, para que consultemos á Jehová por él? Y uno de los siervos del rey de Israel respondió y dijo: Aquí está Eliseo hijo de Saphat, que daba agua á manos á Elías.

But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.

But Jehoshaphat said, “Isn’t there a prophet of the LORD here, that we may inquire of the LORD by him?” One of the king of Israel’s servants answered, “Elisha the son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah, is here.”

Y Josafat dijo: La palabra del Señor está con él. Entonces el rey de Israel y Josafat y el rey de Edom fueron adonde estaba él.

Y Josaphat dijo: Este tendrá palabra de Jehová. Y descendieron á él el rey de Israel, y Josaphat, y el rey de Idumea.

And Jehoshaphat said, The word of the LORD is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

Jehoshaphat said, “The LORD’s word is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.

Pero Eliseo dijo al rey de Israel: ¿Qué tengo que hacer contigo? Ve a los profetas de tu padre y de tu madre. Y el rey de Israel dijo: No; porque el Señor ha reunido a estos tres reyes para entregarlos en las manos de Moab.

Entonces Eliseo dijo al rey de Israel: ¿Qué tengo yo contigo? Ve á los profetas de tu padre, y á los profetas de tu madre. Y el rey de Israel le respondió: No: porque ha juntado Jehová estos tres reyes para entregarlos en manos de los Moabitas.

And Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, Nay: for the LORD hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

Elisha said to the king of Israel, “What have I to do with you? Go to the prophets of your father, and to the prophets of your mother.” The king of Israel said to him, “No, for the LORD has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”

Entonces Eliseo dijo: Por la vida del Señor de los ejércitos cuyo siervo soy, si no fuera por el respeto que tengo por Josafat, rey de Judá, no te miraría ni te vería.

Y Eliseo dijo: Vive Jehová de los ejércitos, en cuya presencia estoy, que si no tuviese respeto al rostro de Josaphat rey de Judá, no mirara á ti, ni te viera.

And Elisha said, As the LORD of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee.

Elisha said, “As the LORD of Armies lives, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I respect the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward you, nor see you.

Pero ahora, consígame músico, y sucederá que mientras el hombre está tocando, la mano del Señor vendrá sobre mí y le daré la palabra del Señor: y obtuvieron un músico, y mientras el hombre tocaba, la mano del Señor estaba sobre él.

Mas ahora traedme un tañedor. Y mientras el tañedor tocaba, la mano de Jehová fué sobre Eliseo.

But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him.

But now bring me a musician.” When the musician played, the LORD’s hand came on him.

Y él dijo: Él Señor dice: Haré este valle lleno de pozos de agua.

Y dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Haced en este valle muchas acequias.

And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches.

He said, “The LORD says, ‘Make this valley full of trenches.’

Porque el Señor dice: Aunque no veas viento ni lluvia, el valle estará lleno de agua, y tú y tus ejércitos y tus bestias beberán.

Porque Jehová ha dicho así: No veréis viento, ni veréis lluvia, y este valle será lleno de agua, y beberéis vosotros, y vuestras bestias, y vuestros ganados.

For thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts.

For the LORD says, ‘You will not see wind, neither will you see rain, yet that valley will be filled with water, and you will drink, both you and your livestock and your other animals.

Y esto será solo una pequeña cosa para el Señor: además él entregará a los moabitas en tus manos.

Y esto es cosa ligera en los ojos de Jehová; dará también á los Moabitas en vuestras manos.

And this is but a light thing in the sight of the LORD: he will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.

This is an easy thing in the LORD’s sight. He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.

Y debes destruir cada pueblo amurallado, talar cada árbol frutal, y tapar cada manantial de agua, y hacer que toda la tierra de cultivo sea áspera con piedras.

Y vosotros heriréis á toda ciudad fortalecida y á toda villa hermosa, y talaréis todo buen árbol, y cegaréis todas las fuentes de aguas, y destruiréis con piedras toda tierra fértil.

And ye shall smite every fenced city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all wells of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.

You shall strike every fortified city and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all springs of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.’”

Ahora, en la mañana, aproximadamente cuando se hizo la ofrenda, vieron que el agua fluía desde la dirección de Edom hasta que el país estaba lleno de agua.

Y aconteció que por la mañana, cuando se ofrece el sacrificio, he aquí vinieron aguas por el camino de Idumea, y la tierra fué llena de aguas.

And it came to pass in the morning, when the meat offering was offered, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.

In the morning, about the time of offering the sacrifice, behold, water came by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.

Y todo Moab, oyendo que los reyes habían venido a hacerles la guerra, reunieron a todos los que podían tomar las armas y avanzaron hasta el borde del país.

Y todos los de Moab, como oyeron que los reyes subían á pelear contra ellos, juntáronse desde todos los que ceñían talabarte arriba, y pusiéronse en la frontera.

And when all the Moabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, they gathered all that were able to put on armour, and upward, and stood in the border.

Now when all the Moabites heard that the kings had come up to fight against them, they gathered themselves together, all who were able to put on armor, young and old, and stood on the border.

Y temprano en la mañana se levantaron, cuando el sol brillaba sobre el agua, y vieron que el agua estaba frente a ellos tan roja como la sangre.

Y como se levantaron por la mañana, y lució el sol sobre las aguas, vieron los de Moab desde lejos las aguas rojas como sangre;

And they rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, and the Moabites saw the water on the other side as red as blood:

Entonces ellos dijeron: Esto es sangre: está claro que la destrucción ha venido sobre los reyes; han estado luchando entre sí: ahora ven, Moab, tomemos sus bienes.

Y dijeron: ¡Sangre es esta de espada! Los reyes se han revuelto, y cada uno ha muerto á su compañero. Ahora pues, ¡Moab, á la presa!

And they said, This is blood: the kings are surely slain, and they have smitten one another: now therefore, Moab, to the spoil.

They said, “This is blood. The kings are surely destroyed, and they have struck each other. Now therefore, Moab, to the plunder!”

Pero cuando llegaron a los campamentos de Israel, los israelitas salieron e hicieron un violento ataque a los moabitas, para que huyeran delante de ellos; los persiguieron y los mataron;

Mas cuando llegaron al campo de Israel, levantáronse los Israelitas é hirieron á los de Moab, los cuales huyeron delante de ellos: siguieron empero hiriendo todavía á los de Moab.

And when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them: but they went forward smiting the Moabites, even in their country.

Destruyendo los pueblos, cubriendo cada campo de cultivo con piedras, tapando todos los manantiales de agua y cortando todos los árboles frutales; siguieron conduciendo Moab delante de ellos hasta que solo quedó en pie en Kir-hareset pero los honderos hicieron llover piedras sobre ella y la destruyeron.

Y asolaron las ciudades, y en todas las heredades fértiles echó cada uno su piedra, y las llenaron; cegaron también todas las fuentes de las aguas, y derribaron todos los buenos árboles; hasta que en Kir-hareseth solamente dejaron sus piedras; porque los honderos la cercaron, y la hirieron.

And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the wells of water, and felled all the good trees: only in Kir-haraseth left they the stones thereof; howbeit the slingers went about it, and smote it.

Y cuando el rey de Moab vio que la lucha iba contra él, llevó consigo a setecientos hombres armados con espadas, con la idea de forzar el camino hacia el rey de Edom, pero no pudieron hacerlo.

Y cuando el rey de Moab vió que la batalla lo vencía, tomó consigo setecientos hombres que sacaban espada, para romper contra el rey de Idumea: mas no pudieron.

And when the king of Moab saw that the battle was too sore for him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through even unto the king of Edom: but they could not.

Luego tomó a su hijo mayor, que habría sido rey después de él, ofreciéndolo como ofrenda quemada en la pared. Y hubo gran ira contra Israel; Y se fueron de allí, de vuelta a su país.

Entonces arrebató á su primogénito que había de reinar en su lugar, y sacrificóle en holocausto sobre el muro. Y hubo grande enojo en Israel; y retiráronse de él, y volviéronse á su tierra.

Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.
