32Or Eliseo se ne stava sedendo in casa sua, e con lui stavano a sedere gli anziani. Il re mandò innanzi un uomo; ma prima che questo messo giungesse, Eliseo disse agli anziani: “Lo vedete voi che questo figliuol d’un assassino manda qualcuno a tagliarmi la testa? Badate bene; quand’arriva il messo, chiudete la porta, e tenetegliela ben chiusa in faccia. Non si sente già dietro a lui il rumore de’ passi del suo signore?”

32Estaba á la sazón Eliseo sentado en su casa, y con él estaban sentados los ancianos: y el rey envió á él un hombre. Mas antes que el mensajero viniese á él, dijo él á los ancianos: ¿No habéis visto cómo este hijo del homicida me envía á quitar la cabeza? Mirad pues, y cuando viniere el mensajero, cerrad la puerta, é impedidle la entrada: ¿no viene tras él el ruido de los pies de su amo?

32But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?

32But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Then the king sent a man from before him; but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, “Do you see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Behold, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold the door shut against him. Isn’t the sound of his master’s feet behind him?”
