OR i figliuoli de' profeti dissero ad Eliseo: Ecco ora, il luogo dove noi sediamo davanti a te è troppo stretto per noi;

LOS hijos de los profetas dijeron á Eliseo: He aquí, el lugar en que moramos contigo nos es estrecho.

And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.

The sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we live and meet with you is too small for us.

deh! lascia che andiamo fino al Giordano, e di là prenderemo ciascuno un pezzo di legname, e ci faremo là un luogo da abitarvi. Ed egli disse loro: Andate.

Vamos ahora al Jordán, y tomemos de allí cada uno una viga, y hagámonos allí lugar en que habitemos. Y él dijo: Andad.

Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.

Please let us go to the Jordan, and each man take a beam from there, and let’s make us a place there, where we may live.” He answered, “Go!”

E uno di essi disse: Deh! piacciati venire co' tuoi servitori. Ed egli disse: Io andrò.

Y dijo uno: Rogámoste que quieras venir con tus siervos. Y él respondió: Yo iré.

And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.

One said, “Please be pleased to go with your servants.” He answered, “I will go.”

Egli adunque andò con loro; e giunti al Giordano, si misero a tagliar le legna.

Fuése pues con ellos; y como llegaron al Jordán, cortaron la madera.

So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.

E avvenne che uno di essi, abbattendo un pezzo di legname, il ferro della sua scure cadde nell'acqua; onde egli gridò e disse: Ahi! signor mio; anche l'avea io in prestanza.

Y aconteció que derribando uno un árbol, cayósele el hacha en el agua; y dió voces, diciendo: ¡Ah, señor mío, que era emprestada!

But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.

But as one was cutting down a tree, the ax head fell into the water. Then he cried out and said, “Alas, my master! For it was borrowed.”

E l'uomo di Dio disse: Ove è caduto? Ed egli gli mostrò il luogo. Allora egli tagliò un legno, e lo gittò là, e fece notare il ferro disopra; e disse a colui: Toglilo.

Y el varón de Dios dijo: ¿Dónde cayó? Y él le mostró el lugar. Entonces cortó él un palo, y echólo allí; é hizo nadar el hierro.

And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.

The man of God asked, “Where did it fall?” He showed him the place. He cut down a stick, threw it in there, and made the iron float.

Ed egli distese la mano, e lo prese.

Y dijo: Tómalo. Y él tendió la mano, y tomólo.

Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.

He said, “Take it.” So he put out his hand and took it.

Or il re di Siria faceva guerra contro ad Israele, e si consigliava co' suoi servitori, dicendo: Io porrò campo in tale ed in tal luogo.

Tenía el rey de Siria guerra contra Israel, y consultando con sus siervos, dijo: En tal y tal lugar estará mi campamento.

Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.

Now the king of Syria was at war against Israel; and he took counsel with his servants, saying, “My camp will be in such and such a place.”

E l'uomo di Dio mandava a dire al re d'Israele: Guardati che tu non passi per quel luogo; perciocchè i Siri vi sono in agguato.

Y el varón de Dios envió á decir al rey de Israel: Mira que no pases por tal lugar, porque los Siros van allí.

And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.

The man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, “Beware that you not pass this place, for the Syrians are coming down there.”

E il re d'Israele mandava a quel luogo che gli avea detto l'uomo di Dio, e del quale egli l'avea avvisato, e si guardava di passar per là; e questo avvenne più d'una, e di due volte.

Entonces el rey de Israel envió á aquel lugar que el varón de Dios había dicho y amonestádole; y guardóse de allí, no una vez ni dos.

And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.

E il cuore del re di Siria si conturbò per questo; e chiamò i suoi servitori, e disse loro: Non mi dichiarerete voi chi de' nostri manda al re d'Israele?

Y el corazón del rey de Siria fué turbado de esto; y llamando á sus siervos, díjoles: ¿No me declararéis vosotros quién de los nuestros es del rey de Israel?

Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?

The king of Syria’s heart was very troubled about this. He called his servants, and said to them, “Won’t you show me which of us is for the king of Israel?”

Ma uno de' suoi servitori gli disse: Non ve n'è alcuno, o re, mio signore; ma il profeta Eliseo, che è in Israele, dichiara al re d'Israele le parole stesse che tu dici nella camera nella quale tu giaci.

Entonces uno de los siervos dijo: No, rey señor mío; sino que el profeta Eliseo está en Israel, el cual declara al rey de Israel las palabras que tú hablas en tu más secreta cámara.

And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.

One of his servants said, “No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”

Ed egli disse: Andate, e vedete ove egli è, ed io manderò a pigliarlo. E gli fu rapportato, e detto: Eccolo in Dotan.

Y él dijo: Id, y mirad dónde está, para que yo envíe á tomarlo. Y fuéle dicho: He aquí él está en Dothán.

And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.

He said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him.” He was told, “Behold, he is in Dothan.”

Ed egli vi mandò cavalli, e carri, e un grosso stuolo, il quale giunse là di notte, e intorniò la città.

Entonces envió el rey allá gente de á caballo, y carros, y un grande ejército, los cuales vinieron de noche, y cercaron la ciudad.

Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.

Therefore he sent horses, chariots, and a great army there. They came by night and surrounded the city.

Or la mattina, a buon'ora, il servitore dell'uomo di Dio si levò, ed uscì fuori, e vide lo stuolo che intorniava la città, e i cavalli, e i carri. E quel servitore disse all'uomo di Dio: Ahi! signore mio, come faremo?

Y levantándose de mañana el que servía al varón de Dios, para salir, he aquí el ejército que tenía cercada la ciudad, con gente de á caballo y carros. Entonces su criado le dijo: ¡Ah, señor mío! ¿qué haremos?

And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

When the servant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. His servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”

Ma egli disse: Non temere; perciocchè più sono quelli che son con noi, che quelli che son con loro.

Y él le dijo: No hayas miedo: porque más son los que están con nosotros que los que están con ellos.

And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

He answered, “Don’t be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

Ed Eliseo orò, e disse: Deh! Signore, apri gli occhi di costui, acciocchè vegga. E il Signore aperse gli occhi del servitore, ed egli vide; ed ecco, il monte era pieno di cavalli, e di carri di fuoco, intorno ad Eliseo.

Y oró Eliseo, y dijo: Ruégote, oh Jehová, que abras sus ojos para que vea. Entonces Jehová abrió los ojos del mozo, y miró: y he aquí que el monte estaba lleno de gente de á caballo, y de carros de fuego alrededor de Eliseo.

And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, please open his eyes, that he may see.” the LORD opened the young man’s eyes, and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha.

Poi i Siri scesero verso Eliseo. Ed egli fece orazione al Signore, e disse: Deh! percuoti questa gente d'abbarbaglio. Ed egli li percosse d'abbarbaglio, secondo la parola di Eliseo.

Y luego que los Siros descendieron á él, oró Eliseo á Jehová, y dijo: Ruégote que hieras á esta gente con ceguedad. E hiriólos con ceguedad, conforme al dicho de Eliseo.

And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

When they came down to him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, and said, “Please strike this people with blindness.” He struck them with blindness according to Elisha’s word.

Ed Eliseo disse loro: Questa non è la via, e questa non è la città; venite dietro a me, ed io vi condurrò all'uomo il qual voi cercate. Ed egli li menò in Samaria.

Después les dijo Eliseo: No es este el camino, ni es esta la ciudad; seguidme, que yo os guiaré al hombre que buscáis. Y guiólos á Samaria.

And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.

Elisha said to them, “This is not the way, neither is this the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek.” He led them to Samaria.

E come furono entrati in Samaria, Eliseo disse: O Signore, apri gli occhi di costoro, acciocchè veggano. E il Signore aperse loro gli occhi, e videro ch'erano in mezzo di Samaria.

Y así que llegaron á Samaria, dijo Eliseo: Jehová, abre los ojos de éstos, para que vean. Y Jehová abrió sus ojos, y miraron, y halláronse en medio de Samaria.

And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.

When they had come into Samaria, Elisha said, “LORD, open these men’s eyes, that they may see.” The LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and behold, they were in the middle of Samaria.

E il re d'Israele, come li ebbe veduti, disse a Eliseo: Percoterò io, percoterò io, padre mio?

Y cuando el rey de Israel los hubo visto, dijo á Eliseo: ¿Herirélos, padre mío?

And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them?

The king of Israel said to Elisha, when he saw them, “My father, shall I strike them? Shall I strike them?”

Ma egli disse: Non percuoterli; percuoti tu coloro che tu hai presi prigioni, con la tua spada, e col tuo arco? Metti loro davanti del pane e dell'acqua, acciocchè mangino e bevano, e poi se ne vadano al lor signore.

Y él le respondió: No los hieras; ¿herirías tú á los que tomaste cautivos con tu espada y con tu arco? Pon delante de ellos pan y agua, para que coman y beban, y se vuelvan á sus señores.

And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.

He answered, “You shall not strike them. Would you strike those whom you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, then go to their master.”

E il re fece loro un grande apparecchio di vivande; ed essi mangiarono e bevvero; poi li licenziò, ed essi se ne andarono al lor signore. Da quel dì innanzi i Siri non vennero più a schiere, per far correrie nel paese d'Israele.

Entonces les fué aparejada grande comida: y como hubieron comido y bebido, enviólos, y ellos se volvieron á su señor. Y nunca más vinieron cuadrillas de Siria á la tierra de Israel.

And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.

He prepared a great feast for them. After they ate and drank, he sent them away and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria stopped raiding the land of Israel.

OR avvenne, dopo queste cose, che Ben-hadad, re di Siria, adunò tutto il suo esercito, e salì, e pose l'assedio a Samaria.

Después de esto aconteció, que Ben-adad rey de Siria juntó todo su ejército, y subió, y puso cerco á Samaria.

And it came to pass after this, that Ben-hadad king of Syria gathered all his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria.

After this, Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his army, and went up and besieged Samaria.

E vi fu gran fame in Samaria; ed ecco, i Siri la tenevano distretta, intanto che la testa di un asino valse ottanta sicli d'argento, e la quarta parte di un cabo di sterco di colombi cinque sicli d'argento.

Y hubo grande hambre en Samaria, teniendo ellos cerco sobre ella; tanto, que la cabeza de un asno era vendida por ochenta piezas de plata, y la cuarta de un cabo de estiércol de palomas por cinco piezas de plata.

And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass’s head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.

There was a great famine in Samaria. Behold, they besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.

Or avvenne che, passando il re d'Israele su le mura, una donna gli gridò, dicendo: O re, mio signore, salvami.

Y pasando el rey de Israel por el muro, una mujer le dió voces, y dijo: Salva, rey señor mío.

And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.

As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, saying, “Help, my lord, O king!”

Ed egli disse: Il Signore non ti salva; onde ti darei io salvezza? dall'aia, o dal torcolo?

Y él dijo: Si no te salva Jehová, ¿de dónde te tengo de salvar yo? ¿del alfolí, ó del lagar?

And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?

He said, “If the LORD doesn’t help you, where could I get help for you? From the threshing floor, or from the wine press?”

Ma pure il re le disse: Che hai? Ed ella disse: Questa donna mi avea detto: Da' qua il tuo figliuolo, e mangiamolo oggi, e domani mangeremo il mio.

Y díjole el rey: ¿Qué tienes? Y ella respondió: Esta mujer me dijo: Da acá tu hijo, y comámoslo hoy, y mañana comeremos el mío.

And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.

Then the king asked her, “What is your problem?” She answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’

Così abbiamo cotto il mio figliuolo, e l'abbiam mangiato; ma il giorno appresso, quando io le ho detto: Da' qua il tuo figliuolo, e mangiamolo, ella l'ha nascosto.

Cocimos pues mi hijo, y le comimos. El día siguiente yo le dije: Da acá tu hijo, y comámoslo. Mas ella ha escondido su hijo.

So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.

So we boiled my son and ate him; and I said to her on the next day, ‘Give up your son, that we may eat him;’ and she has hidden her son.”

Quando il re ebbe intese le parole di quella donna, stracciò i suoi vestimenti. Or egli passava su le mura, e il popolo riguardò, ed ecco, il re avea un cilicio di dentro sopra la carne.

Y como el rey oyó las palabras de aquella mujer, rasgó sus vestidos, y pasó así por el muro: y llegó á ver el pueblo el saco que traía interiormente sobre su carne.

And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth within upon his flesh.

When the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes. Now he was passing by on the wall, and the people looked, and behold, he had sackcloth underneath on his body.

E il re disse: Così mi faccia Iddio, e così aggiunga, se la testa di Eliseo, figliuolo di Safat, resta oggi sopra lui.

Y él dijo: Así me haga Dios, y así me añada, si la cabeza de Eliseo hijo de Saphat quedare sobre él hoy.

Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.

Then he said, “God do so to me, and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat stays on him today.”

Or Eliseo sedeva in casa sua, e gli Anziani sedevano appresso a lui; e il re vi mandò un uomo de' suoi; ma avanti che il messo fosse venuto a lui, Eliseo disse agli Anziani: Non vedete voi che il figliuolo di quel micidiale ha mandato per tormi la testa? vedete, dopo che il messo sarà venuto, serrate l'uscio; ed impedite, serrando l'uscio di forza, che egli non entri; il suono de' piedi del suo signore non viene egli dietro a lui?

Estaba á la sazón Eliseo sentado en su casa, y con él estaban sentados los ancianos: y el rey envió á él un hombre. Mas antes que el mensajero viniese á él, dijo él á los ancianos: ¿No habéis visto cómo este hijo del homicida me envía á quitar la cabeza? Mirad pues, y cuando viniere el mensajero, cerrad la puerta, é impedidle la entrada: ¿no viene tras él el ruido de los pies de su amo?

But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?

But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Then the king sent a man from before him; but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, “Do you see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Behold, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold the door shut against him. Isn’t the sound of his master’s feet behind him?”

Mentre egli parlava ancora con loro, ecco, il messo scendeva a lui, e disse: Ecco, questo male procede dal Signore, che debbo io più sperare nel Signore?

Aun estaba él hablando con ellos, y he aquí el mensajero que descendía á él; y dijo: Ciertamente este mal de Jehová viene. ¿Para qué tengo de esperar más á Jehová?

And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil is of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any longer?

While he was still talking with them, behold, the messenger came down to him. Then he said, “Behold, this evil is from the LORD. Why should I wait for the LORD any longer?”
