Und die Söhne der Propheten sprachen zu Elischa: Siehe doch, der Ort, da wir hier vor dir wohnen, ist zu eng für uns.

LOS hijos de los profetas dijeron á Eliseo: He aquí, el lugar en que moramos contigo nos es estrecho.

And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.

The sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “See now, the place where we live and meet with you is too small for us.

Laß uns doch an den Jordan gehen, und von da jeder Mann einen Balken holen und allda uns einen Ort zum dort wohnen machen; und er sprach: Gehet!

Vamos ahora al Jordán, y tomemos de allí cada uno una viga, y hagámonos allí lugar en que habitemos. Y él dijo: Andad.

Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye.

Please let us go to the Jordan, and each man take a beam from there, and let’s make us a place there, where we may live.” He answered, “Go!”

Und einer sprach: Laß es dir doch belieben, mit deinen Knechten zu gehen. Und er sprach: Ich will gehen.

Y dijo uno: Rogámoste que quieras venir con tus siervos. Y él respondió: Yo iré.

And one said, Be content, I pray thee, and go with thy servants. And he answered, I will go.

One said, “Please be pleased to go with your servants.” He answered, “I will go.”

Und er ging mit ihnen, und sie kamen an den Jordan und sie hieben Bäume ab.

Fuése pues con ellos; y como llegaron al Jordán, cortaron la madera.

So he went with them. And when they came to Jordan, they cut down wood.

Und es geschah, daß einer den Balken fällte und das Eisen in das Wasser fiel. Und er schrie und sprach: Ach, mein Herr, und es ist entlehnt.

Y aconteció que derribando uno un árbol, cayósele el hacha en el agua; y dió voces, diciendo: ¡Ah, señor mío, que era emprestada!

But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water: and he cried, and said, Alas, master! for it was borrowed.

But as one was cutting down a tree, the ax head fell into the water. Then he cried out and said, “Alas, my master! For it was borrowed.”

Der Mann Gottes aber sprach: Wohin ist es gefallen? Und er zeigte ihm den Ort; und er schnitt ein Holz ab und warf es dorthin und machte, daß das Eisen heraufschwamm.

Y el varón de Dios dijo: ¿Dónde cayó? Y él le mostró el lugar. Entonces cortó él un palo, y echólo allí; é hizo nadar el hierro.

And the man of God said, Where fell it? And he shewed him the place. And he cut down a stick, and cast it in thither; and the iron did swim.

The man of God asked, “Where did it fall?” He showed him the place. He cut down a stick, threw it in there, and made the iron float.

Und er sprach: Hebe es dir herauf, und er reckte seine Hand aus und nahm es.

Y dijo: Tómalo. Y él tendió la mano, y tomólo.

Therefore said he, Take it up to thee. And he put out his hand, and took it.

He said, “Take it.” So he put out his hand and took it.

Und der König von Aram war im Streit mit Israel, und beriet sich mit seinen Knechten und sprach: An diesem und jenem Ort will ich lagern.

Tenía el rey de Siria guerra contra Israel, y consultando con sus siervos, dijo: En tal y tal lugar estará mi campamento.

Then the king of Syria warred against Israel, and took counsel with his servants, saying, In such and such a place shall be my camp.

Now the king of Syria was at war against Israel; and he took counsel with his servants, saying, “My camp will be in such and such a place.”

Und der Mann Gottes sandte zum König von Israel und ließ ihm sagen: Hüte dich, daß du nicht an jenem Ort vorüberziehst, denn dort hat Aram sich niedergelassen.

Y el varón de Dios envió á decir al rey de Israel: Mira que no pases por tal lugar, porque los Siros van allí.

And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, Beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.

The man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, “Beware that you not pass this place, for the Syrians are coming down there.”

Und der König von Israel sandte an den Ort, von dem ihm der Mann Gottes gesagt und vor dem er ihn gewarnt hatte, und er hütete sich davor, nicht einmal und nicht zweimal.

Entonces el rey de Israel envió á aquel lugar que el varón de Dios había dicho y amonestádole; y guardóse de allí, no una vez ni dos.

And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of, and saved himself there, not once nor twice.

Und das Herz des Königs von Aram ward über die Sache beunruhigt, und er rief seine Knechte und sprach zu ihnen: Wollt ihr mir nicht ansagen: Wer von den unseren für den König von Israel ist?

Y el corazón del rey de Siria fué turbado de esto; y llamando á sus siervos, díjoles: ¿No me declararéis vosotros quién de los nuestros es del rey de Israel?

Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was sore troubled for this thing; and he called his servants, and said unto them, Will ye not shew me which of us is for the king of Israel?

The king of Syria’s heart was very troubled about this. He called his servants, and said to them, “Won’t you show me which of us is for the king of Israel?”

Und einer von seinen Knechten sprach: Nicht doch, mein Herr König, sondern Elischa, der Prophet, der in Israel ist, sagt dem König von Israel die Worte an, die du in der Kammer redest, da dein Lager ist.

Entonces uno de los siervos dijo: No, rey señor mío; sino que el profeta Eliseo está en Israel, el cual declara al rey de Israel las palabras que tú hablas en tu más secreta cámara.

And one of his servants said, None, my lord, O king: but Elisha, the prophet that is in Israel, telleth the king of Israel the words that thou speakest in thy bedchamber.

One of his servants said, “No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom.”

Und er sprach: Gehet hin und sehet wo er ist, und ich will senden und ihn holen. Und man sagte ihm an und sprach: Siehe, er ist in Dothan.

Y él dijo: Id, y mirad dónde está, para que yo envíe á tomarlo. Y fuéle dicho: He aquí él está en Dothán.

And he said, Go and spy where he is, that I may send and fetch him. And it was told him, saying, Behold, he is in Dothan.

He said, “Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him.” He was told, “Behold, he is in Dothan.”

Und er sandte dahin Rosse und Streitwagen und eine schwere Streitmacht. Und sie kamen bei Nacht und umringten die Stadt.

Entonces envió el rey allá gente de á caballo, y carros, y un grande ejército, los cuales vinieron de noche, y cercaron la ciudad.

Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about.

Therefore he sent horses, chariots, and a great army there. They came by night and surrounded the city.

Und der Diener des Mannes Gottes stand früh auf, sich aufzumachen und ging hinaus, und siehe, es umgab eine Streitmacht und Roß und Streitwagen die Stadt; und sein Junge sprach zu ihm: Ach, mein Herr, wie tun wir?

Y levantándose de mañana el que servía al varón de Dios, para salir, he aquí el ejército que tenía cercada la ciudad, con gente de á caballo y carros. Entonces su criado le dijo: ¡Ah, señor mío! ¿qué haremos?

And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do?

When the servant of the man of God had risen early and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. His servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”

Er aber sprach: Fürchte dich nicht, denn derer sind mehr, die mit uns sind, als derer, die mit ihnen sind.

Y él le dijo: No hayas miedo: porque más son los que están con nosotros que los que están con ellos.

And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.

He answered, “Don’t be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

Und Elischa betete und sprach: Jehovah, tue ihm doch die Augen auf, daß er sehe. Und Jehovah tat dem Jungen die Augen auf und er sah, und siehe, der Berg war voll von Rossen und feurigen Streitwagen rings um Elischa.

Y oró Eliseo, y dijo: Ruégote, oh Jehová, que abras sus ojos para que vea. Entonces Jehová abrió los ojos del mozo, y miró: y he aquí que el monte estaba lleno de gente de á caballo, y de carros de fuego alrededor de Eliseo.

And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

Elisha prayed, and said, “LORD, please open his eyes, that he may see.” the LORD opened the young man’s eyes, and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha.

Und sie kamen zu ihm herab und Elischa betete zu Jehovah und sprach: Schlage doch diese Völkerschaft mit Blindheit! Und er schlug sie mit Blindheit, nach dem Worte Elischas.

Y luego que los Siros descendieron á él, oró Eliseo á Jehová, y dijo: Ruégote que hieras á esta gente con ceguedad. E hiriólos con ceguedad, conforme al dicho de Eliseo.

And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

When they came down to him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, and said, “Please strike this people with blindness.” He struck them with blindness according to Elisha’s word.

Und Elischa sprach zu ihnen: Das ist nicht der Weg und das ist nicht die Stadt, gehet hinter mir her, und ich will euch zu dem Mann ziehen lassen, den ihr suchet; und er ließ sie nach Samaria ziehen.

Después les dijo Eliseo: No es este el camino, ni es esta la ciudad; seguidme, que yo os guiaré al hombre que buscáis. Y guiólos á Samaria.

And Elisha said unto them, This is not the way, neither is this the city: follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom ye seek. But he led them to Samaria.

Elisha said to them, “This is not the way, neither is this the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you seek.” He led them to Samaria.

Und es geschah, wie sie nach Samaria kamen, da sprach Elischa: Jehovah, tue diesen die Augen auf, daß sie sehen! Und Jehovah tat ihnen die Augen auf, daß sie sahen, und siehe, sie waren mitten in Samaria.

Y así que llegaron á Samaria, dijo Eliseo: Jehová, abre los ojos de éstos, para que vean. Y Jehová abrió sus ojos, y miraron, y halláronse en medio de Samaria.

And it came to pass, when they were come into Samaria, that Elisha said, LORD, open the eyes of these men, that they may see. And the LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and, behold, they were in the midst of Samaria.

When they had come into Samaria, Elisha said, “LORD, open these men’s eyes, that they may see.” The LORD opened their eyes, and they saw; and behold, they were in the middle of Samaria.

Und der König von Israel sprach zu Elischa, wie er sie sah: Soll ich schlagen, soll ich schlagen, mein Vater?

Y cuando el rey de Israel los hubo visto, dijo á Eliseo: ¿Herirélos, padre mío?

And the king of Israel said unto Elisha, when he saw them, My father, shall I smite them? shall I smite them?

The king of Israel said to Elisha, when he saw them, “My father, shall I strike them? Shall I strike them?”

Und er sprach: Du sollst nicht schlagen; schlägst du die, so du gefangen nimmst mit deinem Schwert und mit deinem Bogen? Setzte Brot und Wasser vor sie, daß sie essen und trinken, und laß sie zu ihrem Herrn gehen.

Y él le respondió: No los hieras; ¿herirías tú á los que tomaste cautivos con tu espada y con tu arco? Pon delante de ellos pan y agua, para que coman y beban, y se vuelvan á sus señores.

And he answered, Thou shalt not smite them: wouldest thou smite those whom thou hast taken captive with thy sword and with thy bow? set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.

He answered, “You shall not strike them. Would you strike those whom you have taken captive with your sword and with your bow? Set bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, then go to their master.”

Und er richtete ihnen ein großes Mahl an, und sie aßen und tranken, und er entließ sie, und sie gingen zu ihrem Herrn, und es kamen keine Kriegshaufen Arams mehr in das Land Israels.

Entonces les fué aparejada grande comida: y como hubieron comido y bebido, enviólos, y ellos se volvieron á su señor. Y nunca más vinieron cuadrillas de Siria á la tierra de Israel.

And he prepared great provision for them: and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria came no more into the land of Israel.

He prepared a great feast for them. After they ate and drank, he sent them away and they went to their master. So the bands of Syria stopped raiding the land of Israel.

Und es geschah danach, daß Ben-Hadad, der König von Aram, all sein Lager zusammenbrachte und hinaufzog und Samaria belagerte.

Después de esto aconteció, que Ben-adad rey de Siria juntó todo su ejército, y subió, y puso cerco á Samaria.

And it came to pass after this, that Ben-hadad king of Syria gathered all his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria.

After this, Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his army, and went up and besieged Samaria.

Und in Samaria war große Hungersnot, und siehe, sie belagerten sie, so daß der Kopf eines Esels achtzig Silberlinge galt, und ein Viertelkab Taubenmist fünf Silberlinge.

Y hubo grande hambre en Samaria, teniendo ellos cerco sobre ella; tanto, que la cabeza de un asno era vendida por ochenta piezas de plata, y la cuarta de un cabo de estiércol de palomas por cinco piezas de plata.

And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass’s head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.

There was a great famine in Samaria. Behold, they besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.

Und es geschah, daß der König von Israel auf der Stadtmauer vorüberging und ein Weib schrie zu ihm und sprach: Hilf mir, Herr König!

Y pasando el rey de Israel por el muro, una mujer le dió voces, y dijo: Salva, rey señor mío.

And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.

As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, saying, “Help, my lord, O king!”

Er aber sprach: Hilft dir Jehovah nicht, woher sollte ich dir helfen von der Tenne oder von der Weinkufe?

Y él dijo: Si no te salva Jehová, ¿de dónde te tengo de salvar yo? ¿del alfolí, ó del lagar?

And he said, If the LORD do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the barnfloor, or out of the winepress?

He said, “If the LORD doesn’t help you, where could I get help for you? From the threshing floor, or from the wine press?”

Und der König sprach zu ihr: Was ist dir? Und sie sprach: Das Weib da sprach zu mir: Gib deinen Sohn her, daß wir ihn heute essen, und meinen Sohn essen wir morgen.

Y díjole el rey: ¿Qué tienes? Y ella respondió: Esta mujer me dijo: Da acá tu hijo, y comámoslo hoy, y mañana comeremos el mío.

And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to day, and we will eat my son to morrow.

Then the king asked her, “What is your problem?” She answered, “This woman said to me, ‘Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.’

Und wir kochten meinen Sohn und aßen ihn, und ich sprach zu ihr am anderen Tage: Gib deinen Sohn, daß wir ihn essen, sie aber versteckte ihren Sohn.

Cocimos pues mi hijo, y le comimos. El día siguiente yo le dije: Da acá tu hijo, y comámoslo. Mas ella ha escondido su hijo.

So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him: and she hath hid her son.

So we boiled my son and ate him; and I said to her on the next day, ‘Give up your son, that we may eat him;’ and she has hidden her son.”

Und es geschah, wie der König die Worte des Weibes hörte, da zerriß er seine Kleider, da er auf der Stadtmauer vorüberging; und das Volk sah es, und siehe, der Sack war innen auf seinem Leibe.

Y como el rey oyó las palabras de aquella mujer, rasgó sus vestidos, y pasó así por el muro: y llegó á ver el pueblo el saco que traía interiormente sobre su carne.

And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the woman, that he rent his clothes; and he passed by upon the wall, and the people looked, and, behold, he had sackcloth within upon his flesh.

When the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes. Now he was passing by on the wall, and the people looked, and behold, he had sackcloth underneath on his body.

Und er sprach: So tue mir Gott und so fahre Er fort, wenn dem Elischa, dem Sohne Schaphats, heute das Haupt auf ihm stehen wird!

Y él dijo: Así me haga Dios, y así me añada, si la cabeza de Eliseo hijo de Saphat quedare sobre él hoy.

Then he said, God do so and more also to me, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day.

Then he said, “God do so to me, and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat stays on him today.”

Und Elischa saß in seinem Hause und die Ältesten saßen bei ihm, und er sandte einen Mann vor sich her. Ehe der Bote zu ihm kam, sprach er zu den Ältesten: Sehet ihr, daß der Sohn dieses Mörders hersendet, mir den Kopf wegzunehmen; sehet, wenn der Bote kommt, verschließt die Tür und klemmt ihn in die Tür! Ist nicht der Schall der Füße seines Herrn hinter ihm?

Estaba á la sazón Eliseo sentado en su casa, y con él estaban sentados los ancianos: y el rey envió á él un hombre. Mas antes que el mensajero viniese á él, dijo él á los ancianos: ¿No habéis visto cómo este hijo del homicida me envía á quitar la cabeza? Mirad pues, y cuando viniere el mensajero, cerrad la puerta, é impedidle la entrada: ¿no viene tras él el ruido de los pies de su amo?

But Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but ere the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?

But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Then the king sent a man from before him; but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, “Do you see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Behold, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold the door shut against him. Isn’t the sound of his master’s feet behind him?”

Er redete noch mit ihnen und siehe, da kam der Bote zu ihm herab und sprach: Siehe, das Böse ist von Jehovah! Was soll ich noch warten auf Jehovah?

Aun estaba él hablando con ellos, y he aquí el mensajero que descendía á él; y dijo: Ciertamente este mal de Jehová viene. ¿Para qué tengo de esperar más á Jehová?

And while he yet talked with them, behold, the messenger came down unto him: and he said, Behold, this evil is of the LORD; what should I wait for the LORD any longer?

While he was still talking with them, behold, the messenger came down to him. Then he said, “Behold, this evil is from the LORD. Why should I wait for the LORD any longer?”
